I'll admit to being nervous having a cosmetology student do my hair, but in the end I was really quite pleased. Actually more than pleased. The young lady who cut my hair was friendly and excited about what she was doing. We had a really nice conversation, and she was able to take her time and do it right. Here's how it goes... Appointments are on a walk-in basis. If there are students there you won't wait long. Actually, there weren't many people waiting, and I only waited a few minutes because I came in at the tail end of lunch. You sign a "waiver" acknowledging that students are providing the services, and that licensed professionals are supervising. (And they are). My stylist asked for a couple of checks to make sure she got it right. The supervisor came over and checked things out and gave the OK. A wash, cut, and blowdry cost $16 for ladies! My girl even curled my hair for me (She was so excited - and I got a great style for this evening out with my fellow yelpers!) You're free to tip as you please. There are a couple of things to keep in mind: 1. They are students. They may make a mistake - if you can't handle that then this probably isn't for you. 2. The time it takes is longer - they are learning and taking their time to get it RIGHT. Be prepared for a longer time in the chair. 3. The atmosphere on the floor is laid back. The students don't seem to have a lot of customers, and so a lot of the time I was there, other were sitting around waiting or trying things on each other! Quite a good experience... inexpensive...got a great cut and style...and I gave them opportunities to practice cutting LONG hair because they don't often get many people with long hair. I don't think I'm going to give up my regular stylist, but I had a great experience and would come back in the future.

The instructor/Owner Mrs. Kenisha June was an extraordinary teacher with 30+ years of being a licensed cosmetologist, she knows exactly what you need to be successful and how to prepare you on passing the New York State exams and more. She was very professional, Knowledgeable and a great teacher she has no respect of people. She goes over and beyond for all of her students. She gives each and every student one of one hands-on experience. Coming into the school many things I didn't know how to do, however she took the time to show me how to do it. If you take heed and apply what you learn, you will be successful. From day one she has prepared us for the New York State exam and the business side to start your career. I can proudly say that I've passed both my written and my practical exams and now I am a Licensed Natural Hairstylist under the direction of Kenisha June. I've had such a school a phenomenal experience Mrs. K does not stop teaching once you graduate or even when you get your license, but she's always there for support. She prepares you on being your own boss. I am so proud that I went to vision school of beauty and I highly recommend going to this school. Money well spent and affordable.

You will not learn enough skills to start a career in a hair salon after studying here…read more You will be paying thousands of dollars to possibly pass an exam. The training here is not good and is minimal. I am a graduate of this school's full time cosmetology program. The educational experience here was awful. The owner is an inexperienced cosmetology instructor that has only been open for a little over a year. There was only 2 of us in her class. There was not enough practical hands on training on the school salon floor during our 8 month program. When we worked on the school salon floor the owner/ instructor left us unsupervised many times to talk on her cell phone or hide out in her office. Her daughter who supposedly "works" at the school walks in and out of the school often like it is her living room at home unprofessionally. We received minimal and poor haircut training. There was no hair color training. We received minimal chemical service training. We received minimal electric clipper training. You will get no training in mens haircuts. There was no clippers in our $1,500.00 cosmetology kit. Half of the cosmetology kit was filled with cheap dollar store grade supplies. I wasn't ready to work in any salon after I completed the cosmetology course at this school. Because I didn't know how to cut hair or color due to lack of training. Many photos in the school were there to boost the schools social media presence. The photos were pretentious and fake The teacher/owner was unprofessional, rude, passive aggressive, condescending, and talked disrespectfully to me throughout the entire program. I couldn't wait to finish. And happily skipped out of the graduation ceremony. The teacher/owner also showed extreme favoritism towards the other student in the class. She would get product from her personal salon to give to her favorite student during class. The teacher stated to me that the other student.."reminded her of herself". She allowed the other student to be tardy numerous times and reprimanded me if I was 10 minutes late after my long commute to get to this "school" The teacher said she would offer support at the end of the program to get you ready for the exam by helping us pack for the very specific way for the licensing exam. The teacher/owner did not offer any support for exam preparation. She avoided me on my last day of school. I am currently at another school getting beginner foundational training because this school did not provide it after I spent thousands of dollars of my hard-earned money here. I am learning more in this new school than I ever did at Visions School Of Beauty. I do not recommend Visions School. The owner is just doing it for the money and you will not get a quality education. Avoid this place! You will be wasting your money.

The students teacher blended In with her students instead of helping or correcting she held unnecessary conversations. Taught whatever they want to teach but not state mandatory work. Definitely had a preference between new students and students that have already progressed. I guess years ago it was a great school but now its gone down the drain. The director must not be really good at supervising students or teachers ; making sure everyone is doing their job. Id chose another school to study at. This isn't it.

I came in the one day, they told me, I'll let you know if we can get you in, most are appointment only. Another lady walks in after me, no appointment, and she was told to come right on back. At this point, no one says anything to me for the next 15 min. I approach the security and she says yeah we don't have time, but apparently was never going to inform me. This time around, I make an appointment, the lady said 1, I asked if anything earlier was available she tells me 12:30. I arrive at 12:25, was told I'll check you in, in one minute, no one speaks with me for the next 15 min. When i go back to the desk at 12:55 she says yes they are coming back from lunch. During the entire time of my service, there's a group of students sitting hanging out talking so extremely loud it can be heard throughout the entire salon. At no point was it ever addressed by a teacher. Why schedule me for 12:30 if no one is available ? If we are teaching students, why aren't you also teaching customer service and professionalism?

I tried following up with phone calls etc... they do not answer phone calls and the school is completely run down. I would call daily and hear nothing. I decided I was going to unenroll due to the way they ran their business and because I thought I should spend a little more money going to another school to actually learn correctly and get my phone calls answered or called back. I chose to walk in and let them know I was unenrolling instead of calling because they don't answer phone calls. I sat down with a lady and told her my situation and why I was choosing to leave there school, she looked at me as if I was crazy and said she had nothing with my name on it or anything. She said they didn't know who I was and acted like I was not enrolled. Keep in mind I paid enrollment fees and had there required background checks done and everything. I left very mad because I was enrolled and I had proof. I texted them more and called because I wanted my money back and no one has answered still. Do not go to this school. Do not waste your time with the tours or calling. They just want your money and do not care about you.

I've been attending this school for only a few months now and it's probably the worst choice in…read moreschooling anyone could make. This business is falling apart. Employees and teachers have been quitting left and right. We found expired facial products from 2013 and 2020 being used on clients. For official clients that pay money to receive a facial from us, we're told to cut the facials short instead of giving them the full 50 minutes they paid for, simply because the employee that runs the clinic wants to go home instead of doing her job. We've been using water in replacement of empty products because no one orders new batches. Half of the school's facial machinery is broken. And as a student, during class days you're legally obligated to stay in the building for 4.5 hours. The first 20-30 minutes are notes and the rest of the time we sit here staring at the wall. You're not allowed to leave the building for anything, and the only food or drink are in broken vending machines that eat your money. The lady that runs this business rarely visits the school since she's too busy in Florida or on cruise ships wasting all of our tuition on herself instead of paying her employees adequately or fixing up our equipment or buying new products for our "spa". She very obviously does not care about running a school. This feels like a money grab instead of a legit education. I would never recommend this school to anyone and the most I can hope for is that I'll pass my board exams.
