Keygo (forgive me if I'm spelling that wrong!) greeted me, listened to me ramble about wanting braids but not knowing exactly what kind, and literally said "say less", and meant it. Keygo got me booked with Ty and that was that. Now let me tell you about Ty. She is THAT girl. Her work speaks for itself talented, precise, and clearly passionate about what she does. But honestly? The whole experience felt like catching up with a friend. She's warm, funny, easy to talk to, and her playlist? Chef's kiss. My chair time flew by. Seven years married and I walked out feeling like it was date night all over again. If you're on the fence, just walk in. Such cheating. they told us they charge 38 for baliage and if they use extra tub they charge $15 extra. When we paid they said they charged us $170 saying they used 8 extra tubs. Lies. this they did not inform us about until we weee at the checkout. I had grey hair and asked them to cover it during baliage. when my mom pointed out the remaining white hair they rudely told her to "let them do their job and that they know what they are doing". The student who did most of my hair was a nice person but others were incredibly rude. We felt silenced due to the glares from the teachers. Now after my hair is dry, I still see a lot of white hair and my red baliage looks like burnt hair. I once tried to highlight myself but that was 6 montha ago. They kept insulting me that I used "box dye" and that's why my hair color did not stick well. They went further and kept throwing dirty looks and saying the words "box dye" to each other over a hundred time. This place is garbage. I would have spent 150 at ulta or some other salon and got a much decent look. My hair is so messed up and has spoiled my entire week. I gave to get this redone next week at a decent salon. The final cherry on top, they tried to charge me twice saying that my payment "didn't go through", but suprise to them I got my Wells Fargo notification that my card had been charged. I narrowly avoided being charged the rip off price of $170, not once, but twice?! Ridiculous hair styling, angry staff that demean you, and a final product worthy of a circus troupe. I am writing this review out of urgency to get adequate supplies and better support for the excellent educators who work here and pour 120% into their students every single day. Since Nicole has begun working here, she has boosted the morale completely and makes it much more exciting ( and bearable) to be at school every day. From planning community events/ beauty events to creating T-shirts so we all have awesome swag to rep our school. Ms. Tiffany and Mr. T have reformed the education environment to a much more positive and engrossed one. Our educators have decades of experience and knowledge to share with us. I am giving a five star review only because our educators and staff are five star worthy. All of our teachers pour their time and own money into making it manageable here. I would not still be enrolled in this school if it were not for the people who make it great. A quick search on indeed will let you know that our educators are far underpaid, and it makes the fact that they use their own funds to get supplies even more flabbergasting. This campus has the most diverse student population in the northern Colorado region and yet if you compare it to the other campuses within our region ( Colorado and Arizona in particular) , our campus is the most rundown and in need of repair. I cannot help but feel like this school is not a priority to corporate because of that reason. Every student enrolled here pays the same amount as the students on the more updated/ renovated campuses, ( the tuition is nearly double one full year of in-state tuition at a traditional college), and it makes it more difficult to acquire new students when other campuses with the Empire company as well as our beauty schools in the area have a cleaner and more organized environment, and well stocked in supplies. I love the Empire family in Aurora however we desperately need help in areas listed above. read more

I've been going to Empire beauty for years. My mom and grandmother turned me on to them. Here lately things have been rough. From arguing with the director over the front desk associate, telling a student I don't have empire towels hidden in my purse, to being over charged. Finally enough is enough. Listen, it's important to feel safe, protected and to be charged correctly. If Nancy has a personal issue with me, ok...... So does that not mean she's accountable for not scheduling appointments(sometimes she forgets to input it) , over charging and having mediocre customer service? The director well........ I had to tell her in our disagreement (over tone used with Nancy) we will agree to disagree Pooh. The ladies and Mike do awesome work. The students via the instructors are innovative (thanks Kat) and pretty cool people. But it's only right I share my experience. Do Not waste your time!!!! If you are looking for a beauty school to attend DO NOT ATTEND THIS SCHOOL! This is the most unprofessional place anyone will ever experience. It is more of a circus type atmosphere than a learning establishment. You may as well throw your $20,000 tuition in the wind and hope you have a natural talent to make it after school. As for going in for a beauty service...well if you are ok with being around people without a proper filter on their mouth this is the place to be. The lewd language and arguing back and forth between the "stylists" make you so uncomfortable you want to run out of the place. It will take you 3 hours to get a haircut and color because the student has to get their work checked by a teacher after each service. That is when the teacher decides they want to make their way over to you. After all your time means nothing. It's all about the jokes and laughter. read more

As a graduate of this beauty school, I would NEVER recommend anymore come here for education nor a service. This school is a joke, very unprofessional and inconsistent with the way they run thing. Worst education I've ever seen. I left here not knowing how to cut nor color and had to learn on the job. They SUCKED at helping me fill out fafsa cause they messed up my application and I was denied. Which means I paid for my tuition out of my pocket. One day I called on a Saturday for an appointment and the women rudely replied we can't schedule appointments on Saturdays and then hung up on me. Then I called again weeks later to schedule an appointment and they don't have any available times and kept trying to schedule me for days I did not agree with. As a student at the school I see a lot of unprofessional behavior, but I see great services. The low prices and execution of services make our guests happy. The few professional and mature students make the behavior of the other students worth while because like any school we are only there for a time and eventually we, as students, will work in atmospheres suited for each of us. As far as a school, the education just scratches the surface of cosmetology, but like any education it's what you make of it and it's up to you how deep you want to drive into and learn about the aspects you love. read more

I have been to the beauty salon 4 times now, each time for foils and a haircut. I know they're students. I know they offer very inexpensive services... But! The first time, despite showing them a color card from my former stylist with all of the color information, my hair came out way too light, and I had to come back a few days later to get it tones. The second time, again too light, despite an extensive consultation with the student and the intstructor - toner again. In a nutshell, every single time I've been there, after the consultations, I've had to have toner put on after the foils were removed because they've not been able to get the color right, and I'm not picky, I have medium brown hair and I just don't want to look like the summer blonde. Additionally, again, I know they're students, but I've been there as much as 5 hours for foils and a haircut - my hair is about shoulder length. While it's probably fine for a cut and blowdry, I would think twice about having color put on, just my experience (or rather, 4 of them). read more

I will never go back for any service. I went in with a very clear picture of the cut I wanted and 5 hours later I left with nothing even close to the picture. I have had the particular cut before so I knew how it should have looked. I came out almost Anne Hathaway short hair short and that is not what the picture I presented was. The color was great but the cut was so awful I had to go to a salon and get it all fixed. To me it was the instructors fault for telling the student the wrong things and if the student wasn't sure how to do this cut they should have had another student who did know how to do it work on me. This place is horrible! Went in for a tour/haircut& mani and was disappointed with both. Was not impressed by the school as far as wanting to join and definitely felt like these girls dreaded being at school. Haircut was awful, at the time had long one length hair. The shampoo was quite possibly the worst I have ever had, my face and ears even got wet. The girl complained about how much hair I had and couldn't comb through it easily. For a one length cut it took a really long time and I did not get a blow dry. Girl that cut my hair took more than an inch off and did not speak English. Another girl did my mani and again this took forever! It was sloppy and should by no means have taken that long. Will NEVER return here. read more

As a husband to a student that attends empire I'm very disappointed in the way they treat these students. My wife comes home in tears after class because the faculty is very unprofessional. I have been there when product isn't available for clients because they don't order enough. These students pay a lot of money to attend this school and the teacher doesn't teach. I know not only my wife but other students have complained to the Director and yet nothing happens like they don't believe the students. If I had the chance I would be talking to a corporate head to see if they might do anything about it. read more

I went in last week for a basic wash and style and Kristina was my stylist , she was very nice and so were the others that were there that day she made conversation with me and kept me laughing the whole time. She never rushed and she even made suggestions on how I should get my hair when I felt undecisive & insecure I LOVED her she's the best and I will be going back when I want another wash and style :) read more

My sister is a current student, so I went in to get a manicure and pedicure. My boyfriend also wanted a pedicure. So we each booked an appointment. Upon showing up the person that was supposed to do a pedicure on my boyfriend had taken two walkins so she was unable to do the service. They found someone else to do it so we were happy. I was not able to get my service started until 1 hour after it was scheduled. My sister began to tell me how the school ran out of supplies that were needed for her earlier customer so it took her 2.5 hours to give her customer a manicure. She finally started on me but the school then told her that they ran out of foot scrubers. So she was unable to scrub my foot. The school then took the shellac and nail polish away saying my sister did not have time to finish. I said that was ok but I was not going to pay for a service that I did not get. Not once did the instructor apologize and still had to pay for the service. After several minutes of arguing she gave me a free service card for my next visit. I have never seen a school that is so unorganized. If you call yourself a school you should always have the supplies that is needed for the students to successfully learn. If you cannot provide a complete service to a customer you should explain that to them and have them sign a waiver. read more
