I have been to the Construction Exam Center several times for different ICC Certifications. I knew I had hard earned money invested in the courses so I was motivated. Each time I found the information and study material to be helpful and pertinent to the exam I was preparing for. I was one that traveled over 1000 miles to study there so my expenses included travel. I was blessed to be able to attend from the time the doors opened in the morning and study until the center was shut down in the evening. I always followed their guidelines and spent the number of hours needed to prepare for each exam I have taken. My investment has paid off each time I attended the Center's courses and followed their recommendations. No one can force you to study and prepare for a Certification, but it will help your future. All the questions they make you highlight and study you can find in with the icc quickpass study guide which is 75$ I paid 800$ for my B1 and they Are only really there to answer questions. It's self paced they just give you folders filled with questions to find the answers. read more

So I enrolled at the exam center seeking a prep course for my residential wireman's test. From the start I was talked down too by Carol, one of the "teachers." Belittled in front of others based off my of my aptitude from my first initial exam, and overall was just treated almost like a lesser person every time I engaged with Carol. All the while witnessing numerous other students be treated the exact same way while I was trying to study the information I was provided. I then quickly realized about 75% of the information I was receiving was directed towards my journeyman's test and not towards my residential wireman's test. "Commercial and industrial code and calcs are not required for your residential wireman's. Differentiating between the two can be difficult especially if you are new to the trade." When I asked about focusing the information I was receiving towards my residential wireman's test  I was once again talked too like I was a lesser person, was then lied too about the information I was receiving and when I questioned the lie I was told to leave the facility or else the cops would be called. My problem with this facility isn't the information, or even Carols attitude or demeanor or the way she treats people. My problem with the facility is solely with the structure of the facility and the structure around the prep courses themselves. They do not allow any note taking to help retain information, they do not allow you to bring in or take out anything aside from your calculator and book, the teachers themselves know nothing about the tests and are unable to offer any sort of assistance if you are struggling with a specific area. The information I received for the residential wireman's was geared towards passing your journeyman's test and the tests I received were geared towards my journeyman's test and not towards my residential wire-mans test. So the big question here is, if the idea is to take practice tests with information geared towards those practice tests and then evaluate your results to determine your areas of strength and weaknesses But the tests and information you are receiving are not geared towards the exam you are looking to take. How are you supposed to appropriately evaluate your progression, especially if you don't have the knowledge to differentiate what's relevant or not? Let alone streamline your progression to expedite and ensure your passing of the test itself. Which is what the exam center advertises with its "guaranteed pass." Now, I know my scenario is one sided and is only associated to the residential wireman's exam. But it makes me curious, what other exam courses are they offering. Especially in regards to progressive licensing, that is being handled in this same manor by people with the same character as Carol. How many other tradesmen like me, have been belittled or talked down to after spending hard earned money on a program that promises to help them with their licensing so they can advance their career and provide a better life for their loved ones and what type of people would threaten to call the cops on someone for simply asking a question about the structure of the coarse that Was paid for. When  little to know support or information or guidance or even compassion for that matter was shown upon walking through their door. You know, I'm a man of god first, A family man second, And a hard working, tax paying, blue collar American third and it disgusts me what I witnessed and experience at the exam center. I have taken several of their courses and passed my ICC exams with flying colors on my first attempts. I have had Carol as my instructor on several classed and I came out feel very confident and knowing the materials I needed for testing on my certifications. I would highly recommend Construction Exam Center. And if you don't pass your test after the class, you always have a guaranty pass clause with their services, which I have never needed. The instructors are very helpful and attentive to all of my needs and questions I had going through the study guides. I have attended classes in Beaumont, TX and Mobile, AL and the accommodations are great. I will admit that the instructors are very strict on anyone taking and coping any of the materials out of the room. I understand that a lot of money and effort goes into keeping their study guides up to date with the most current testing questions on the certification exams. Which change on a regular basis. I give Construction Exam Center a 5 star because I feel the instructors know their stuff and are willing to share their knowledge with you and help pass your certification test, but if you come to play in one of their classes and not study, it will not be tolerated by them because it is not fair to the ones in the class that come to learn. Passed my exam the first time. Definitely a place where you need to be self-motivated to do your work. They give you the initial info to read through, do it and you'll do great. The practice exams were diverse and accurate to the test you'll take for your license. I saw at least 20 questions on my exam that I had taken on the practice exams. Recommend for anyone taking an exam for an electrical, or other trade license. read more

Information was invaluable. The Staff were all rude, shirt and treated u like a dummy in the questions u asked them for help on. I suffered through the rudeness long enough to get the info I need and paid $600 for get my master electrical license. They know u need and paid for their help so the feel like the have power over you. So rude and unprofessional there. Def looks like a mom and pop shop that took a rude turn somewhere. Again, they information helped me a lot, but they are rude, unprofessional people. Be prepared to deal w attitudes there. I also took my test a little before I finished his course and passed it. I let them know I passed and instead of congratulating me, he said "well your lucky, if u hadn't passed I would have charges you to come back and finish the course." Nowhere in his contract is there a default for testing early, he would be happy,. But at the end of the day, he wants the fail and to charge u again for a restudy, $$$. read more

They wouldn't work with me during the pandemic. They give you 3 months to get the studying job done. The building was shut down for over a month because of the pandemic. And they would not work with me to get more time. They were like. Sorry. Your completion date was july. In which they cut me off from my studies. The owners daughter told me. With the pandemic. You wont be about to schedule your test until August. So we will need to push your completion date back until August. I show up August 3rd for class. She's like. Sorry. You are expired. You can't study here any more. My state test is Sept 10th. Unless I pay $250. I studied there everyday into the pandemic. 2 months straight. I showed up damn nwar every day. The owners daughter wouldn't work with me at all. I get it. They probably lost a fortune with the shut down. Don't take it out on your clients. The weeks before I was denied study time. I would show up. Get numbers to call to try and schedule my test. Spend hours on hold outside of the study hall on hold. Get a run around. Get disconnected. The Exam center had no clue on what to do to help me schedule my test. I would think that they might have at least some decent direction. State test changed how they schedule a few months prior. I see this as a test prep for people that have previous background knowledge in the construction field. If you have no experience or knowledge of construction this is not really the class for you. Self-paced course study seminars are designed to help you pass your test in whatever field you'd like. All the information contained is accurate to what you are going to take in the actual exam. When you have a question about something in the test they are there to help you out an explain the answer. Don't expect them to go too much into detail about the question or explain the whole theory since this is a test prep for people that have taken actual construction classes. You definitely need this if you need that extra help to pass your test which can be really hard to some people. read more
