I purchased a 2012 Ford Fusion on Monday, April 14th. Just one week later, on April 21st--and after driving fewer than 500 miles--the car began displaying a "Service AdvanceTrac" warning. I had the throttle body replaced and the battery upgraded, hoping it would fix the issue. That cost me $600, and to their credit, Aren Auto Group reimbursed me $300. Unfortunately, the issue persisted. A diagnostic scan at my local Ford dealership revealed the car needs a complete transmission replacement--a repair quoted at $18,000+ because Ford no longer produces the necessary parts. This problem is actually part of a known recall for this specific model--something Aren Auto Group did not disclose prior to the sale. And coincidentally, this recall is now expired. According to the CarFax report, the vehicle had been traded in to Ted Britt Ford and then purchased by Aren Auto Group at auction, with only 10 additional miles on the odometer. It's clear that the car was likely offloaded at auction because of this exact issue. Rather than acknowledge the evidence from two highly qualified mechanics, including a Ford-certified technician using manufacturer-specific diagnostics, the dealership owner, Chris, still insisted I take the vehicle to their mechanic--essentially questioning the validity of the previous expert evaluations. The car is currently with their mechanic. The dealership's communication throughout this process has been poor, and at this point, I believe their business practices lack transparency and integrity. Had this issue occurred after 10,000-20,000 miles, I might chalk it up to wear and tear. But a major, safety-related failure within 500 miles of purchase points to a serious pre-existing issue that should have been disclosed. I now believe this vehicle was knowingly sold under misrepresentation and fraud. I'm not looking for anything unreasonable--I simply want my money back for a vehicle that is unsafe, unreliable, and not fit for use. Corresponded with SAM for two days, set an appointment and was told that vehicle was available and I could test drive it no problem. Was also upfront that I was traveling some distance to check this vehicle out as well. Typical used car dealership . . . when I arrive for my appointment ,that vehicle isn't even on site or available and they try to upsell other inventory. Dear Empire Auto Group (specifically Chris), Fuck you. We went to go purchase a car from you and you falsely advertised the year AND mileage of the car. When we confronted you about the inconsistencies, you said you had multiple cars like this for sale, but when we drove to the lot, there was only one car of this make and model. On your website, the car we went to go see wasn't even listed on your site, let alone this "other car" you told us about. Not only that, but the "contract" you wrote up was on Microsoft Word and written right in front of us. You pressured us to put down a deposit even though we weren't completely sold on the car. The processing fee/deposit you made us pay was neither used for processing nor depositing. If they ask you to put down a deposit, DON'T. When you try to bring up a complaint, they will either ignore you or be extremely condescending (especially if you're a woman). We have been trying to get our money back and they are either faking incompetence or trying to make this our fault. The only organization I want to see fail more than yours is ISIS. If you don't know who they are, they upload violent videos to the internet that violate YouTube's community guidelines (and that's just one of the awful things ISIS does). Empire stole my deposit money even it was just $300. So.. if you're going to give them more than $300, "Please Please be careful" you won't get any dollar back even they break the rules. "First" poor quality of Service I made appointment with the guy named Chris to go to see the car. When I was at this place, he didn't have time even talked to me. I was waiting for talk to someone more than 15 minutes to. After someone came to talk to me and I told him what the car I wanted to test drive, I was waiting for him to bring the car to me for another 20 minutes. "Second" about poor quality cars At the end of August 2019 I tested driving a car Nissan Altima. I drove it for 5 minutes and I felt the engine almost gone, so I decided to drive it back to there place. This dealership just wants to sale cars they don't care a quality of cars. They don't have ethics in their business. "Third" unprofessional dealership I found out the car and the CARFAX report had different mileage after I gave they deposit money. The car that they tried to sell to me, it had different mileage numbers on the actual car and on Carfax Report. This was the reason I wanted to get my deposit $300 back but they said it was not there fault, so I gave them a chance to fix it. It had been over week I supposed to have a car but I stuck with this this. "Forth" actual shit They told me "the car is ready to take but I said I need you fix the mileage before I will do anything". After the car had fixed the mileage, I went to see the car it was cracked" 1. The rear-side windows still broken 2. 4 tries of the car were "different brands" and they all were "Cracked" 3. They advertised a car and price online with shipping to Raleigh NC for $222, actually included. I called to buy after receiving a text it's available and a sales person over the phone confirmed it's availability also....and the lying began. Even the GM called from Miami on vacation, after this review was posted....and had the audacity to talk down to me. He said it's not THEIR problem, it's Cargurus. Every member of that organization, Sales team, Sales Manager and GM clearly have zero customer service skills, it all starts at the top! Rather than problem solve for potential options, they recommend looking at a car instead priced at over $21,000 instead of the one advertised at $16,555. For the specific reason that the car had FACTORY capabilities to adjust driving modes as well as exhaust modes.. I was assured the vehicle was in top condition , as i bought it from out of town. I wasn't however told that the vehicle had not only been previously stolen, but that the whole exhaust system had been removed and the "factory" settings which i bought the car for were removed...... I tried to talk to the manager to take the car back when i received and had it taken to the service company. He said sorry, "AS IS' . I told him this is not an as is issue, it is a fraudulent issue due to he sold a vehicle modified from the purpose of the vehicle. The check engine light was on as well as i asked if any issues mechanically which i was lied to. I told him i would pay to have the car shipped back, he denied. I asked for him to put the car's exhaust back to factory for which i bought the car for, he denied. I have sought legal counsel and will make this doesn't happen to other people........ They misrepresent their vehicles, give false information, and sold a modified vehicle without disclosing that the vehicle didn't operate as it was intended to . Went to look at a car I saw on Cars.com. Kind of hard to find since it's behind Midas. I had a little confusion because it's an auto repair shop as well, but I was still greeted by the receptionist. It took a few minutes for them to grab the car and bring it since it was at another location. When they brought the car it had a ton of issues but the sales person did not try to hid them at all. bought a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee for 7k and the AC wasn't working correctly. I kindly asked that they fix this since I paid the car off right then and there. They asked me to come back a few days later and they would. I drove 45mins back to them and waited 3 hours for them to "fix" it. when I left the Jeep made a terrible grinding noise when the AC was turned on. it lasted around 1 week and stopped working. I took my Jeep to my mechanic and he explained the compressor and condenser were bad. The salesman along with his mechanic knew what was wrong with it but lied to me every chance they got. WORST PLACE EVER to buy from. Bought a vehicle in August which had just passed inspection earlier that month. Brakes were found out to be almost metal to metal not even 2 weeks after I got it. The second day that I got it check engine light came on. 3 days later transmission is overheating & abs lights are on. They were willing to fix the problems at "no cost". After 2 weeks of me leaving my car with them, not getting a response & constant phone calls ignored. I get told it's $900 to fix the vehicle if I wanted to fix it. WORST PLACE TO BUY A USED CAR The dealer man I spoke with was someone from Europe, more in the Slavic regions, I believe from Romania. He was selling a car on Letgo and failed to point out anything about the car I bought. First things first, HE LIED about his NAME. Secondly, EVERYONE here just WANTS your MONEY. They do not care about your personal situation or anything and won't even negotiate a fair price at all. Most of their cars are all TRADES, which they buy for a discounted price, and most likely will have some sort of internal or external defect or problem. I bought a 2016 car and it had so many scratches that I hadn't seen until I got home and washed the dang thing. He also said that the car didn't come with a remote or spare key and said i could buy one from amazon, but it turns out the car doesn't respond to any key fobs at all. Very overpriced on certain vehicles even before tax and such as well. They will try to bullshit you for your money so please just do yourself a big favor and forget about this place. I called to request information about a 2011 Buick they had listed on cargurus. The man seemed pleasant on the phone at first but once I requested to take the car to be looked at by a mechanic near him he got very defensive- said that was a "case by case" basis and that if I didn't trust him then I shouldn't buy from him. I don't know this man or his business- I cannot trust someone I don't know, that's ridiculous. He then said he didn't have tags in order for me to drive it to a shop and who's going to insure the vehicle if I'm in an accident on the way. Do people not test drive cars here? This statement was also illogical and ridiculous. If he is confident that his mechanics do a thorough job inspecting his cars he should have confidence that whoever's I take it to will give it a clean bill of health. Run, do not walk away from the crooks at this dealership. They sold my 19 year old a lemon. He saved all his military pay from his first few months in the Air Force and robbed him. The car broke down the moment it was driven off the lot. Took it back for a "supposed" fix. Took it to 2 independent mechanics afterwards and were told by both that the transmission was shot and both did not recommend driving it on the highway. Bought a Truck from Empire Auto Group in Oct 2019 for a decent price, As soon as they got my check, they stopped being courteous and helpful. I had to call and text several times to get a response. Everything that they promised was completely out the window when I paid in full with my check from my credit union. The gas light was on when I picked the vehicle up ( gas on E) Spare tire was no longer under the vehicle, they never sent the 2nd key to the vehicle, Vehicle DID NOT pass inspection. Verdict is still out and I will expand on my review of this dealer once I have my vehicle back. I purchased a 2009 Jeep Compass for my daughter on 5/28/21. I live in Maryland and the dealer guaranteed Maryland inspection. On 6/4 the 2009 Jeep Compass failed inspection. The 2009 Jeep Compass was returned to Aren Auto Group on 6/13/2021. After a month of the dealer having the car to fix the repairs that failed we picked the car up on 7/15/2021 only to have to leave it because the AC compressor had gone bad. Chris sales person/owner? agreed to pay the labor on the AC repair but I as the car owner I am responsible for purchasing the part/compressor. While my daughters car was being repaired her brand new phone Mount was removed/stolen from her vehicle. At this point dealer has not advised what will be done about the removed/stolen phone Mount. The dealer I assume is trying to do the right thing. I live 1.5 hours from this dealer and the back and forth driving has been a nightmare. I have paid car insurance on a vehicle almost 2 months and she's driven it a total of 6 times. I will conclude my review and scoring of this dealer once I finally have my daughters vehicle back. read more
