Empanadas are as much a part of our culture as other ubiquitous Spanish dishes. In fact, you'll see them in most malls and even in MRT stations. We've even come up with our own versions of this dish. But if we're looking at the classic meat-filled version in a crisp crust, go for Empanada Mas. They brand their version as artisanal empanadas which uses hand-rolled dough. And you really do taste the difference just in that crust alone.
They have them in three sizes: the regular empanadas, empanada grande and empanaditas. If you want to really taste the lovely filling that they have, go for the regular sized one. If you're extra hungry, get the grande. For kids, I love getting the empanaditas because it's really the perfect size for popping them whole in your mouth - really fun to eat. You can get the empanada and empanada grande per piece and the empanaditas by the half dozen or by the dozen.
They have so many sweet and savory flavors to choose from that are really pushing the boundaries of what the ideal empanada should be. They have flavors like bacon and cream cheese, homestyle chorizo, pepperoni, ham and cheese, cheddar cheese, spinach, chicken, jalapeno, Nutella and so much more.
This is my favorite grab-and-go snack and also one of the store-bought food that I am not afraid to give my daughter knowing that they do not use preservatives and the empanadas are made fresh daily. read more
