I find it hard to trust my bigoted countrymen. But we went to see Elio today and it reaffirmed my belief that one of my heroes from childhood was correct. "Despite everything, I still believe that people are good at heart." That is a paraphrase from Anne Frank's' diary-but it still stands. This is a poem I wrote today. I asked Google to translate it into Spanish. I hope that it conveys the true spirit of what America really stands for.

Boys day at the downtown Winter Haven Holiday Market with a quick food adventure!!!…read more We walked the market and Argentinian Empanadas were a go to for us to try. The wait at the food truck was not bad, but not good for the slightly undercooked empanadas we received. If your name is Empanada's Paradise, your Empanadas need to be the BEST!!! These were OK at BEST!!! My son and I got the beef empanada and the spinach and cheese empanada. The outside crusts were cooked very well. The challenge was when you bit into them the inner layer of the shell was not fully cooked and the spinach and cheese was barely warm. Beef was better with temp and flavor. We love empanadas, but $7.50 for 2 of them with this quality is not appealing to us to return to this truck. I hope they can get their cooking times down a bit better as the staff looked frantic and were rushing everything they were doing it seemed. Foodies know goooood food takes time!!! They should slow down and make sure they have consistency in each individual food they make so everything comes out great and makes you want to return!!! I didn't even take pictures because we ended up taking a bite and throwing it away. For visual outside cooked well/inside undercooked for the spinach and cheese. Beef inside was cooked well, but only Luke warm filling. SORRY I'll make sure to remember to take pictures of the food. This all happened very quickly from-bite to trash can!!! This is just two peoples opinion, as always!!! TRY IT FOR YOURSELF!!!!

Me and my fiancé went to this restaurant right after Church, after seeing some food pictures…read moreonline, and this is our first and most likely last. We were greeted by a waitress... a couple mins. We received a complimentary noodle soup, we ate it and it was delicious. We had 2 waiters taking care of us. We then proceeded to tell him our order A couple apps, and a couple entrees for me and her.... I can't recall how long we waited to get our appetizers, but it wasn't too long..... so, we ate them slowly, thinking we were going to get our meals very soon. But that didn't happen... Our waiter then says to us, please be patient, our food takes time to make, so we didn't think anything about at the time..... but I started to notice.... One side of the restaurant, looks empty, and we sat right by the kitchen, and the other side.... I couldn't see if there was people or not..... and it's now, 30 mins in and all I see are, 3-4 waiters just hauling food to one side of the restaurant and we still haven't got an update, no one showed up to our table with food or nothing, now it's past 45 mins in.... And me and my fiancé are getting irritated and pissed... she got up and asked about the food and the waiter just nonchalantly tells her, it's coming out.... Now, it's over an hour and we're beyond pissed.... Everyone around us, receiving food but us. We didn't even order but 2 appetizers and 2 small entrees..... it was so bad, got into an argument with the staff and they comp us one meal and that's it. And made them wrap up our food to go. I hope they fix that, Because that's ridiculous and just disrespectful to us to make us wait for over an hour. It's our first time and most likely our last......

Not knowing what to expect, we made reservations and were greeted with pleasantries, immediately seated, and welcomed. The octopus was smoky and tender. Just right-at least that's what little red riding hood said . I don't remember much else because food kept coming and I kept eating. We had the best service that night and the owner came and spoke with us. He told us the reason behind the name which is when his family came to the US. Fast-forward to July 2, 2026, I visited Lakeland, to see my mom who lives there. The hotel happened to be down the block from Nineteen61. My mom's appetite had waned. I was concerned but knew if she got what she wanted it would help her to regain her appetite. She wanted an entire snapper. Not many restaurants serve the whole fish (head and all). I called and, what do you know, they serve deep-fried yellowtail snapper. The whole fish. Reservations for 8:30pm the same night and we arrived at 8:10 p and were immediately seated. I had the miso salmon, hubby had the rack of lamb, and mom got her fish. We added ripe plantains and started with the calamari. It was not bready. Just the right amount of dusting for a crunchy texture. But the sauce was tangy and sweet-so good. Oh, the salad-nix the cheese. The dressing is amazing. My husband ordered the Riesling, and I got the moscato. Mom went with a strawberry daiquiri. Here is where things get interesting. We are sweet wine drinkers and the Rieslings we are used to are sweet. This was dry. So the server gave him a taste of the moscato and he went with that. I don't know what they do with wine when you send it back-so I opted to keep the glass of Riesling and mix it with my Moscato. I cannot explain the result. Suffice to say we both enjoyed the mixture. The restaurant was busy. That is always a good problem to have. The servers and bus teams worked swiftly and maneuvered among the diners, crisscrossing through the ravines created by the tables with finesse. We received a ample attention and we needed it-adding and asking for condiments to which they supplied. The bar was amptly stocked and the decor inside the restaurant captures the history. What was more appealing was the size of the restaurant made it feel like you were dining in your own private nook. Yes, I would return to Nineteen61 again and again. Worth it!

We had the Cuban sandwich with yuca fries and our son had the kids chicken tenders with fries. Ordering was so simple. We were able to pre-order a day before they arrived and select the time we wanted to pick up the food. It was ready 15 minutes early and we got a notification in the BFT app when it was. We are born and raised in the tampa Bay Area and have had our fair share of Cuban sandwiches. It may surprise you on how many people mess it up, we are thrilled to say this is not one of them. The Cuban was perfection and classic (with the Genoa salami) the portion was wonderful too and did not leave us wanting for more. The yuca fries came with a garlic Mayo sauce and I could put that on almost anything and it would be delicious too. I will order from here again and if I am somewhere that has this truck. I will not skip over it.
