They have extensive policy written up on inclusivity, diversity, and safety - all of which is available for anyone to read on their website at www.showcircusstudio.com. 2) Their teachers care about their students and are highly trained circus professionals. Many of them went through the professional track program at the New England Center for Circus Arts, are members of the professional circus organizations, and are active in furthering their circus education and training both on their own and through the studio. They go through monthly staff training as well as additional off-site trainings to constantly improve their skills and give a high quality, recreational circus education for students of all ages, body types, fitness levels, skill levels, races, economic backgrounds, etc. 3) Show is a recreational space. They don't expect you to do back flips when you walk in the door or even after your finish classes. You progress through a carefully planned out and studio standardized curriculum and are going at your own pace. This means you aren't forced through a leveling up system, but take a class until you're ready to move on to more advanced skills. In this way, your only competition is with yourself. 4) If other reviewers think the space is dirty and poorly organized, I recommend going in and checking out the space for yourself. Chris, the co-owner, does an amazing job of organizing the space along with Henry, the other co-owner. The lobby is GORGEOUS and the studio itself is perfect for recreational circus skills - vibrant colors, clean, and rigged to perfection for easy changes between classes. I'm very impressed. I highly recommend SHOW to anyone, especially to the LGBTQIA community - as SHOW and its staff are strong allies to the community. I wouldn't feel safe in a gym situation and I've never felt unsafe at SHOW. I cannot speak highly enough of them and my experiences with the studio.

At this time I've never taken hip hop lessons before, but was really excited to try them. But when I got in, I felt unwelcomed from the start. I'm the type of person who can usually break into any social situation well, even if I don't know anyone. But in this case, everyone seemed so closed off.. including my dance teacher, Brendon. He was so uninterested in getting to know me. He'd always let us ask questions, but whenever I asked or didn't get something, I was ignored. I felt like he didn't care whether or not I fell through the cracks. The only good thing about this class was that Brendon played dope music, but that was it. The other two girls in my class totally ignored me. I'm sure they weren't trying to be mean, since it seemed like they knew each other. But it was just uncomfortable and made the classes unpleasant. This is a great place if you've been here for years and you get tons of attention. But if you're new, good luck!

I started dancing when I was 4 years old with Lesly Makings, one of the main ballet teachers at Northeast American School of Dance. I eventually moved away from the area and am now back. I've taken dance lessons from numerous teachers in different parts of the world but Lesley is simply the best. There is no drama about the art of ballet but rather she teaches a straightforward class with a focus on bettering your technique and advancing your overall personal abilities. Her classes are a mix of ages... the Tuesday night, Friday night and Saturday morning classes range from highschool students to women in their mid fifties. There are even a number of men that occasionally join the class. Everyone has different levels of experience but the choreography adjusts simply to your own abilities. It's a very positive atmosphere for you to feel comfortable in. Overall the school seems to have very interesting class offers so in the case that ballet isn't your thing, there are definitely options to explore. I highly recommend trying out ballet though even if you're just a little bit curious - this is the perfect platform to do so. It's a great alternative to going to the gym and trying to tone with machines and an excellent way to better your posture and confidence. I believe there is a beginner intro if you're not sure how your coordination would apply to ballet. Give it a try!

Amazing, and so patient with each child. The classes? Worth every penny to see the kid's faces come recital weekend. The facility? Always clean, regardless of how many people are inside. The owner? A great person. There are many different classes offered for all ages. Ballet, tap, hip hop, acro, lyrical/liturgical, musical theater, combos...even ballroom dancing classes for adults! The recital outfits aren't skimpy and the music they use is truly lovely without being inappropriate for kids like other studios have. I wish there was a better waiting room for parents but if that's my biggest critique then this is an awesome studio. Our prior studio in Delmar and one I have seen in Scotia do not teach good technique and the kids get bad feet, back problems and injuries. Call Guin, she is an angel. :)

Katrina (from the Pilates Studio) is a highly skillful and experienced Pilates instructor. As a result she is now a respected trainer of other Pilates instructors, many of whom she employs at her center. I have come to know a couple of her instructors quite well and they are, without exception, wise and wonderful women! Katrina is warm, approachable and empowering in her approach to Pilates. I know several people who have done ongoing work with Katrina and have had excellent results with their physical issues. I also know a local chiropractor who regularly refers clients to Katrina because she is able to further the healing that he begins. I highly recommend Katrina and any of the instructors at the Pilates Studio that she employs.
