Definitely not the way I wanted to spend a couple of hours a day after Christmas, but here we are…read more I woke up in pain and cramping on my right side and decided to call Orto SC, their new name, today for an appointment. They were able to get me in the same day and into see a wonderful provider. From the start my experience was great! The office staff were warm and welcoming. I checked in and completed my paperwork on one of their tablets. I love this because it was quick and easy compared to the thousands of papers that many offices still use. I got called back not too long after that by a nurse and she did some quick follow up questions. Then I was taken to get an x-ray and the provider came in. The nurse practitioner, Larissa Connell, was thorough, kind, and so funny. My mom came back with me and she spoke with both of us like we were old friends. She made me feel some comfortable and right at home. Larissa was even encouraging about my nursing school goals. She told me that a part of my hip was inflamed and that was causing all of my pain. She recommended a steroid shot and it was done quick and painlessly. The first thing I noticed that I was able to walk better. The pain has not completely gone away, but I am hoping with the exercises and time I will be back to myself again! I hope whoever is reading this will never have to use pain management services, but if you do OrthoSC is the way to go!

I had an Orthopedic appointment this morning with Dustin Hoffman, but sadly my efforts to obtain…read moregel injections fell short. I injured my knees several years ago and was diagnosed with bi-lateral chondromalacia of the patella resulting in painful giving way, sharp stabbing pain, extreme pain when extending the knees, and constant throbbing. After visiting my PCP, the week prior I was offered to receive steroid injections from my primary care provider in her office without any additional x-rays or MRIs, but I declined due to the correlation between steroids and opacification of the optic lenses. However, she provided a referral to a Dustin Hoffman who works at Emergeortho of Wilmington. In doing so, the scheduler called and I advised her that my PCP has the MRI summary for both knees and they should ask for said summaries to be forwarded in order to provide a clear picture of my condition, but due to the incredulity of the situation the office didn't request the MRI summary from my PCP resulting with Dustin Hoffman insisting on billing my insurance company for an X-ray even though by his own omission agreed that more times than not the x-ray image will show normal. I find this sort of mentality to be border line spurious and mendacious in nature. In addition, during my brief interaction with Dustin Hoffman he did not ask one question concerning my knees. Didn't ask about the trauma, the fact they give out, the sharp pain, or the constant throbbing or why my PCP referred me to him. The only concern he had was to be able to bill my insurance for an x-ray that he and I both knew would indicate normal imaging and at no time did he suggest a new updated MRI, which I would have capitulated to. Healthcare at its best in the United States now awaydays!! Two thumbs down!!

This was my second time seeing Dr. Blair, and the experience was just as bad as the first. Patients are told to arrive early, even established patients who already completed everything online, only to sit in the waiting room 45 minutes past their appointment time before even being called back. Then another 20+ minute wait just to see the doctor for about 30 seconds, only to be told he would be back. After that, another 25-minute wait before he finally returned for an injection (he's gotta sneak in those extra 2 or 3 appointments). Dr. Blair has zero bedside manner, came across arrogant, dismissive, and immediately pushed surgery on a 46-year-old patient while claiming there were "no other options." I've never met a doctor so dismissive. What makes that even more concerning is that I sought a second opinion and was, in fact, given another treatment option. At no point did I feel like my pain or concerns were taken seriously. Isn't a doctor's job supposed to include treating pain and helping patients explore options instead of brushing them aside? The entire interaction felt rushed, cold, and transactional. OrthoSC feels like a run-of-the-mill greed factory where volume and money matter more than patient care. The lack of communication, respect for patients' time, and overall professionalism was incredibly disappointing. I gave them two chances, and they failed both times. I would never allow anyone from this practice to operate on me. If you are dealing with shoulder issues, I highly recommend Dr. William Greer. He was compassionate, patient, answered every question without acting annoyed, and actually spent time with me -- about 15 minutes, which felt like a completely different experience compared to OrthoSC.

Back pedaling; could be this or could be that no clear solution. I had already tried everything that they recommend for pain with no relief. The second surgery did not help my chronic pain and I currently walk with a cane. When I went to Dr. Bohan in August, he had the nerve to ask me if I wanted him to operate again. The pain was SO BAD that I just went home after one day. Ten days later, when I was able to see my pain doctor, they worked with me, tried different medications until they found something that worked and relieved my severe pain. If a doctor can do the procedure correctly, that's good. But it doesn't end there. I have a VERY low tolerance for physical pain, so my experience was awful.
