The Wilton Collective was previously located across from The Manor but they have relocated into the old Holy Mackerel location in Island City Plaza on 26th St. The large space has an interesting selection of art, jewelry, accessories, clothes, figurines, home goods, and vintage and antique pieces. There is also an event and meeting space that can be rented. They have a Mix & Mingle event at their bar every Friday from 6:30-8PM. I loved the Florida prints, especially the alligators and mermaids and they had my beloved vintage Pyrex dishes. Items ranged from a few dollars to hundreds. The prices I did check seemed reasonable to me. They have such an eclectic mix of beautiful things. I really enjoyed exploring this store.

There are no hazards in the entrance, the ranch provides volunteers with water but we all bring our own food. Taking care of 60+ animals, as anyone can imagine, is quite expensive and this charitable organization focuses all of their funding on ensuring the animals are fed, sheltered, physically cared for including teeth cleaning, shodding, and regular medical care. All volunteers are welcome and work in whatever capacity they are comfortable with. Please come out and see for yourself. You will be so glad you did!

Well, I must have come on a bad day. Maybe the animals were tired. Maybe the staff were tired. I…read moredon't know. All I know is I felt like I was at my cousin's house and they happened to have animals. There were no directions or explanations...until it came time to pay. Now that part was explained perfectly. Honestly, I probably could have seen the same thing at my local shelter and saved $30. I'm hoping the money goes toward helping the animals, but it's really hard to tell. They have goats, plenty of birds, llamas, pigs, and horses. I wouldn't call it a true petting zoo because most of the petting is done through a gate. If you want a horse ride, you have to ask. No one offers or tells you about it. Everything looked like it could use some updating or repairs, and the overall vibe from most of the staff was, "Please hurry up so we can get back to what we were doing." A couple of employees were pleasant and helpful, but they weren't going above and beyond. They simply gave us what we asked for. Overall, I probably won't be back. At least my $30 went toward helping the animals...I hope.

It's no secret the animal rescues in South Florida are overwhelmed with homeless and unwanted pets…read morewhich many are unfortunately, euthanized. When wanting to add another fur baby to our family, I started to search rescues for a pup. I found a cute little ball of fluff on Animal Aid's website and arranged a meet and greet and also checked out the other pups there. (They also have cats for fans of felines). The adoption price includes all shots, spay/neuter and a box of flea/tick/heartworm meds. If you already have your four pawed furball, they also provide low-cost spay/neuter services. As a not-for-profit rescue, donations, volunteers, and animal adoptions help save lives of pets that would otherwise face a bleak future, if a future at all. If you are interested in adopting, complete an adoption form online and once approved, either make an appointment to see your next companion. As a heads up, the location is small, so an appointment may be your best bet.
