I'd like to start by saying that Susanne (Property Manager) as well as the Maintenance workers were…read morealways very friendly - As you'll see in other reviews, this is genuinely true. The issues ive had with the apartment started over this past year. To Start - When you move in, you dont get to see your exact unit until you are given the keys and move in. You are shown a Model unit, which looks nothing like the units up for rent. Upon going over details of each unit - I was told my apartment would have new carpet and the hardwood laminate floors in the kitchen. This was not the case, Within the first few seconds of walking in the APT i was on the phone with the manager, as the carpet was not new AT ALL. Stains all over the carpet, edges were frayed, and the kitchen was a cracked old black and white tile which i wasn't happy with at all. They sent out people to have the carpets cleaned, and even after the stains were very visible. Drawers and cabinets were filthy, and dont get me started about in between the counter and stove... Earlier this year, i requested to have the hardwood laminate installed in the kitchen, and was charged an extra $30.00 on top of my rent each month. The next issue i had was with Heating, the winter of 2017 My furnace went up, maintenance told me it was from it being so old, which if you ask me should be inspected before a tenant moves in. I was without heat for a week, however they did bring me small space heaters, which didnt do much at all - but it was appreciated. The space heaters also ended up being taken from my unit because other units had the same issue with their heat. The Next issue being my bathroom ceiling, I had extreme flooding from the ceiling and air vent from the tub in the unit above me. This was covered by a terribly rough patch job. The entry/ hallway of the building is supposed to be cleaned on a weekly basis (per management) and honestly, ive been here nearly two years, and have probably only seen it cleaned maybe 3-4 times. The breaking point, where i decided it was time to leave was when i was notified in August that i was not able to use my washing machine, kitchen sink, or dishwasher as the unit below me had a pipe burst and it needed to be repaired. I was told this would be fixed asap, and it was not fixed until Late September. This was incredibly inconvenient as you can imagine, especially considering the amount of rain we were getting. I had to drive 30 min to my parents house to do my laundry, and then lug all of my laundry into the apartment through the rain. Wouldnt be a big deal if there was actually parking up front of the building. But there is literally never any parking, Me and my sister always have to park 4 buildings down in the guest parking. They recently changed the parking passes from a paper one to a nice sticker to put in the window. However, tenants are using BOTH of these so they can have their guests park up front!!! This was my first apartment, i dont regret it as it was a learning experience - however, i would not recommend living here to anyone until they properly update the units.
***edit*** I do not recommend living here AT ALL!!!! My security deposit was $500, I just received a check for the deposit in the amount of $43! They are charging me for new carpet, when the carpet was not new when i moved in! I had the carpets professionally cleaned the same day i did the walk through, I paid Stanley Steemer over $300 to deep clean the every room in the apartment. During the walk through, the manager pointed out two small stains in the guest bed room - and said a small piece of carpet would be pro-rated and i was perfectly fine with that, considering it should have been between $30-50 - I am being charged over $400 for new carpet throughout the entire apartment! Again, The carpet WAS NOT NEW when i moved in! I was here for nearly two years, Plus the tenants time before me, This apartment was due for new carpet anyways! Carpets in apartment units life span is between 3-5 years. On top of that, the carpet is VERY cheap. I paid their ridiculous termination fee, and still got screwed over with my security deposit.
