In the treatment area, its an open landscape layout, so the kid is taken to a chair in a large open room where they can see what other kids are doing, and that everyone is "ok." They get a bib with their name written on it in big letter with a smiley face. They are given sunglasses, headphones shaped like animals, and a menu of three movie choices to distract them while they get their treatment. They get to pick a colorful animal shaped handle toothbrush. They get a token at the end to redeem at vending machines on their way out that contain little toys and bouncy balls. This office is run in a highly efficient manner, and all of the staff are friendly and professional. Dr. Sun went to USC and Harvard. He has a kind demeanor, and I am comfortable with his professional ability and training. Scheduling is not difficult. They offer reminders via text and email, which is hugely helpful. My preschooler has not only had a good experience with routine cleaning and xrays, but she cracked a tooth on the playground, and Dr. Sun gave her a root canal and crown. That's pretty major stuff for a little one. He and his staff provided excellent counseling on treatment options, and did a great job getting us through the root canal procedure. I feel lucky that we have a resource like Dr. Sun's practice so close to our home in Shoreline.

I pretty much knew my 2yo would not enjoy the experience (he's a strong willed kid), but I wanted to go somewhere with him where they'd be well prepared. First off, the front desk staff was super friendly as soon as we walked in. My son bee-lined it for their play area while I was filling out patient intake paperwork. The office was bright, clean, and super kid friendly. We didn't have to wait long to be taken back by hygienist Rebeca. She was so sweet with my son who was making strange big time. She tried showing him some of her "tools", to which he had no interest in... but my point being, Rebeca was patient and understanding. Dr. Sara is super friendly, and understood my son being scared. In terms of her time with him it was quick but efficient. I had to hold his arms down whie she checked out his teeth, and she was both through and quick! So grateful to the community for the recommendation. While I fully expect my son to make strange again (that's just the kind of kid he is ‍), it's reassuring to know we have a dentist and office who knows what to expect!

I will choose to take my child's dental care elsewhere. There are many choices for good dental care in our area. From my first dental appointment as a toddler through my teens and early twenties, I had the same dentist and orthodontist, Dr. Robison. His staff remained basically the same in twenty years, and they were always warm and friendly. They treated me and my family like their family. When Dr. Robison had to stop practicing, I was devastated. In the few cases I had to visit other dentists, whether it had to do with cost or insurance, it was never a good experience. My family soon realized paying more money to stay with Dr. Robison was worth it. So out of fear of bad experiences, it took me a few years after he stopped practicing before I came around to finding a new one. Unfortunately, my first dentist recommendation turned out to be awful. It took me just three visits, one of which included two botched impressions (having that stuff slide down your throat is not pleasant!), and having one of the fillings they gave me break off, that I decided I needed to stop giving them any more money. I had read good reviews about Cedar View Dental and Dr. Perkyl in the past, but my employer at the time didn't provide the right insurance. This time I had new insurance that was accepted there, so I decided to call them to get my tooth re-filled. When I arrived, I found out that Dr. Perkyl was retiring and that Dr. Jonnes would be my provider. I hadn't heard anything about Dr. Jonnes up until that point, so I was nervous, but I went through the appointment anyway. Though my first experience with Cedar View Dental was getting a cavity re-filled, it was still pleasant. It prompted me to schedule my first cleaning, and then the rest of the care I needed after. I had to visit Cedar View Dental 8 months out of the last 12, but it wasn't so bad knowing I was being taken care of the right way and I was always comfortable. My teeth are finally getting back in shape and I have Dr. Jonnes and the staff to thank. Gina is my hygienist and she's AMAZING, with a ton of knowledge. She is gentle with my teeth and so friendly. The dental assistants Holly and Christy are both just as gentle and caring. When the other cavity done by that awful dentist fell out most recently, they got me in right away and Chantha (who is also wonderful!) helped me out. I just can't say enough good things about them all. I feel like a human being rather than another mouth to tear apart. They also always offer encouraging words while you're stuck in the chair and check in with you consistently to make sure you're doing alright. And even though I originally was nervous to have a younger and newer dentist, Dr. Jonnes is awesome and does great work. Everyone seems to have a bit of perfectionist in them and I'm not complaining. From the moment I step in and I'm greeted by Selena and Laura, to setting up with Gina and being seen by Dr. Jonnes, I get the same feeling of warmth, friendliness, and comfort that I had with my dentist growing up, and that's worth everything to me. I tell anyone I can that they should be coming here, including my parents who are stuck with a sub-par dentist. The office is located in a mixed-use building. There is ample parking and reserved spaces for the practice. The office itself is nicely set up with both private rooms as well as chairs in more open spaces. The waiting area is very child-friendly. Additionally above each procedure chair, there is a monitor built into the ceiling so that your child can watch a movie of their choosing. After the visit, children are given a token (or two) to chose a prize from the prize wall. If it is your child's first visit to the dentist, they also commemorate it with a picture that you get to take home. It's super cute! Dr. Tung and her staff are amazing! They promote good dental hygiene in a very positive and reinforcing way. They are super nice and accommodating, and really cater their treatment and care to their patients. I.e. for my sometimes shy and high-anxiety kids, they allow me to sit with them or next to them as needed, and are super patient with them! We once had to call the office on a day when they were closed due to a dental emergency. After leaving a message on their machine, Dr. Tung returned our call promptly to triage the situation. After communicating on the phone and via text, it was determined that our child needed to be seen. Dr Tung made arrangements to come into the office later that day to further asses the situation and provided us great peace of mind. She is amazing! I highly recommend this practice!
