I made a comment here on Yelp, and "Easa H's" reply to my comment was a complete LIE - let's analyze: In his reply here on Yelp he wrote: "We are very Melissa that you feel that way..." -----NOT TRUE - when I expressed my concerns, I was denied a refund without sympathy, and via text, the recruiter girl's reply via text was a snide "Tough luck cookie, you've learned your lesson." He wrote: "when you came in you were very excited to start the business" ----NOT TRUE - I was NOT "very excited to start." NOT AT ALL. I was VERY APPREHENSIVE AND CONFUSED. I was told I was there for a shoe/foot model interview, and the 'interview' turned into a bait and switch. "i told you we had a audition for you" -----NOT TRUE! There was no specific mention of any kind of interview for me. "so we went forward and did the comp card" -----NOT SO EASY! I WAS EXTREMELY APPREHENSIVE, EXAPLAINED MULTIPLE TIMES I DIDN'T WANT TO BE A MODEL, I FELT OVERWEIGHT, MY HAIR COLOR WAS GROWN OUT, AND I WASN'T EXPECTING ANY KIND OF PHOTOSHOOT and was CONFUSED SINCE IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE FOR A FOOT gig. I was coerced into doing to shoot just to get you to stop hounding me. I was vulnerable and you took advantage of me. WORST YET, I gave you my credit card but you said it didn't work, so I gave you my debit card. When I realized I was conned as soon as I stepped outside - in went into my car and cried! Then I tried stopping the payment, BUT YOU CAN'T STOP A PAYMENT ON A DEBIT CARD!! SHADY! "and as i said as soon as i saved you in our database i submitted you for a casino shoot". ----GARBAGE! AFTER I CRIED AND TRIED STOPPING THE PAYMENT I went back inside to ask you to give me my money back and you refused. You did not say anything about a casino. You said you sent the photos off for editing and your editor had already started (In less than 5 minutes - extremely hard to believe) so that's why you couldn't refund my money. Then you jumped into a fancy car with your friend and went to eat - you left your office immediately after dismissing me - you didn't keep doing any work on my stuff. "and my client replied back and he wanted for you to send him a self tape for a casino shoot" --- IF THIS IS TRUE - DOUBTFUL, YOU MADE NO MENTION OF IT TO ME - NONE, NOT EVEN A WHISPER. "and for some reason someone talked you out of going forward with our agency" ---- NO ONE TALKED ME OUT OF IT - I FELT IT IN MY BONES THAT I HAD BEEN CONNED WHEN I WALKED OUT. This is one of the most unprofessional places I have ever been in my entire life. I can't believe they are still doing business!! Almost four years ago, I searched for some modeling agencies around Seattle area and unfortunately Emerald came across. I contacted them and a couple of days later, they told me they had a great job that would fit with my body type and for me to call them back ASAPto schedule an interview. I also had to bring 3 different clothes for the photo shooting. At that time I had no idea how the modeling business worked and I ate the bait. Well, when I got there, thy guy started to talk about how wonderful his agency was showing me an old crappy book with old sloppy pictures of models at magazines adds, and etc. Then, he told me about the picture package that was around $600 ( the cheapest) and I said there was no way I had that money. So, the price dropped down to $125. I was stupid enough to pay. Then, I went to another room with a girl who put some old stinky make up on me and the business owner himself took my pictures, and not a professional photographer and it was took at the back of the building. Awful!!! OMG, how could I be so stupid. As soon as I left there I realized I was fulled and all they want was to sell me crappy pictures. I never heard back from them about the suppose job I was going to be signed up for. Finally, after a few months passed, they sent me an email asking for more money for the rest of the pictures. The building I was renting my apartment in, there was a guy who was working in a Talent agency. He recommended me to go there and give it a try since every time he will find a client the agency gives the employees a commission. So I went there to give it a try. They asked for so much money without even doing anything for me. That was crazy, they said if I want them to take my pictures I have to pay so pretty much it is a scam they just get money from you and do nothing for you. And from an old friend I heard about Emerald and gave them a call. The lady on the phone was so nice and professional. So I made an appointment and went there the next week. It was such a nice and a cozy looking office. They interviewed me took my pictures and told me once someone is going to be interested in my then I will pay the fee for the agency which I was so happy about. I'm so excited to write this review, because what an agency! I found them accidentally by replying to a specific ad about a banking video, and then they contacted me without saying they were an agency, but told me to bring in changes of clothes. I go in, and they have me wait in an office and instructed me to look at a book of checks and contracts, I think to prove they were legit. Honestly, I've had an agent in a few major cities, wasn't at all looking for an agent just a side gig since I had just moved to the area a few days ago from NY and they tried to get me to sign up and pay money for their signature bad headshots. You guys, a legit agency would never have you pay anything ever. Nor would they try and prove legitimacy by showing you a book of pictures of checks....I don't doubt they've booked for gigs and stuff, but who cares? Just stop messing with people and catfishing.... They even offered to have me only pay $100 up front and they'd take the rest out of my first gig.... agencies will only take a percentage, and your headshots should be done by a professional, and not in an office with a white backdrop. This place is pretty cool. I've had experience with a few other talent agencies and this place has been a lot more comfortable to work with. Other places had management that was either too uptight or too stressful, or in some cases had management that treated me like a number, which I found completely disrespectful. The management at Emerald City get work done without the annoying micromanagement that certain people in leadership roles tend to overdo. My cousin has modeled here for years and I didn't realize until I started working with them and they asked about my cousin and my aunt. My aunt was happy to hear from them and gave me a copy of her book for them. Johnny is pretty cool, he was a model when he was my age, doing lots of cool shoots and other gigs including being a stand in for Sylvester Stallone. I feel like his experience really helps get me gigs. I'm hoping to one-up my cousin this year, he's had several gigs and I'm still pretty new here. For the past seven years, ECMT has sent me out on countless auditions, presented my headshots to Seattle's leading directors, helped me put together a considerable résumé, and given me the chance to dream the show business dream. Here's to you, Johnny! I just finished the Century Link Stadium shoot with Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson. With ECMT's, help I've been given the chance to succeed in show business. Make no mistake, this is the toughest business ever ventured; but then, that's exactly what Johnny told me when I started. The day I walked in to ECMT, I had no experience, no headshots, and most importantly, no agent. Walking out of ECMT, I had quality headshots, and I had an agent. Johnny said a résumé was important, but not necessary to get started. I have been with this agency for about a year or so. I have been pleased with the guidance I have received from Emerald City Model & Talent. They have helped me to prepare for auditions. I have been cast as a principal for a commercial; a speaking part in a promotional video; was selected for a modeling shoot and have also participated as background talent. These were for local companies as well as national and one international. I have been sent on auditions where I did not get cast. It comes with the business. But each effort made to go out and try is a win-win because your perseverance will pay off. You help your ability as a performer grow as you become more experienced and comfortable with the audition process. I was with another agency for a few years before and was thankful for the training I received with them however I did not get cast for paid gigs. While on an audition I came across an old friend who is on the talent roster with Emerald City and who suggested I connect with them in hopes to get more audition notices and hopefully paid gigs. I have not regretted that. I have met wonderful people through the agency and have made lasting friendships with other talent. When I decided to be part of the talent roster I did not have any pictures for immediate use so I did have the agency take a headshot of me. It is standard to need a headshot and resume when going out on auditions or to even be considered for one. The picture or pictures you have available serve as a way for casting agents to select you from other candidates for a potential audition. I had the option of ordering a larger photo package wearing different outfits but it was not feasible for me at the time. I do have the option to slowly add to that portfolio as I have photos from my paid gigs. I can also have the agency take more photos to show a range of looks if I choose to do so to help make me even more marketable. I can't speak for others but as for myself, I am thankful for the experience I have received at Emerald City Model and Talent to focus on how to prepare for potential jobs and the opportunities to be sent on audition calls. When I had important people in my life going through rough times, they were supportive of me stepping back from auditions to focus on what needed my attention at that time. The agency has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau and they have been in this industry for over 25 years plus I know other performing artists who have been cast as talent from this agency as well. All of these factors made me comfortable with choosing the agency. I have found it does take an investment of time and money plus your commitment to really aspire to make yourself better than before which really is what one would have to do for any endeavor. Owner John has extensive personal experience in commercials, acting, and print and has been running ECMT for over 40 years. I think that rather than believing everything you read online, you should go down and see for yourself. That's what I did. I was skeptical at first from the other yelp reviews, but John was very nice to me and not pushy at all, like other talent agents I've dealt with. Most agencies make you pay thousands of dollars for classes, including additional fees before they will even sign you. ECMT runs on a no-contract basis, they get paid if you get paid PERIOD. And I really liked that. I also really like how they describe themselves as a Real People Agency. For me, that relieved some of the pressure to try to be perfect. But they showed me countless paychecks their talent have recently received for gigs, so I could see the place was legit. I decided to join the agency and within two weeks, I received a call for an audition for a hair show and was hired. And right now, I'm lined up for another acting position. Not only do the agents place you for gigs, but the clients also pick who they want from the Emerald City website. If you have the look the client is looking for, then you will get submitted. Are you *guaranteed* work within two weeks? Of course not. You have to be patient and hope that there's a job coming down the pike that suits you. When I was approached by Emerald City, they unprofessionally called me and told me that I needed to bring 3 changes of clothes because "well, you know what you look good in better than we do." When they called to confirm my appt, at which point I had decided I was not going to attend, they called and left a message where he rattled off the address and phone number so fast that I couldn't understand what he was saying, and then said to give him a call back and just "lemme know you're comin'." and then abruptly hung up the phone. Luckily i had only given them $100. Red flags were going off everywhere. i won my claim with my bank luckily to get the money back, but it was such a hassle. I replied to an ad on Craigslist that was very specific that they were looking for toddlers between the ages of 1 and 3 for a professional photo shoot on a specific date "near the Seattle Science Center". The ad stated to "Please submit with a photo and contact information for details and specific requirements. We will hold a casting date. Pay will be flat rate." ($190) I received a call today, a few days after submitting my daughter's photo to this ad, from Emerald City Talent indicating they had "received my information" but wouldn't specify how or from whom (I never heard of them, submitted anything to them or any other agency). When I prodded further, the gentleman who had me on speakerphone while waiting for the receptionist/assistant who was on the other line told me "Maybe, we have like 8 jobs right now". They set up an interview and requested that she bring 3-4 changes of clothes, which I cancelled soon after. It was obviously a phishing scam on Craigslist. to get in new "suckers". I have a 4 year old daughter who is really good looking kid. I am not saying because it is my child but everyone is telling me that she should proceed her career in modeling since she has the looks. SO I wanted to give it a try and see what will happen. Heard about Emerald City Model and Talent agency from a neighbor of mine and went there with my daughter. I did not know whether I will go with them or not but wanted to talk to them and see what do they offer and what they can do for us. It was a very nice place when we walked in and there were so many people waiting to go in and to drop off their pictures. So we wanted and had the opportunity to talk to one of the managers. The second he saw my daughter he told us that she is just perfect for this kind of career and we should proceed right away since they can take her a long way. They took a lot of pictures of her and I filled out a couple of consent forms and we signed up since I loved how professional they were and compare to other places this place you can tell that they are not scams they are serious about what they are doing and you can trust these people. They all were super helpful and very friendly. We were so excited especially my daughter since she is such a girly girl who loves to dress up and pose for the camera. This business does not operate in an ethical way. They advertise on-line on talent boards with what sounds like real jobs. When they call you to set up an interview, they ask you to bring in several changes of clothing and when you get there, you realize they are not hiring for that job at all! Instead, they will try to pressure you to sign up for their agency RIGHT NOW by telling you that you can get all this work if only you pay them $600 for sloppy pictures that they take then and there. I was told I could pay $300 up front and then I could pay off the rest through jobs. Yet when I was called to pick up my very expensive pictures, I was told that I couldn't have them until I paid the remaining $300. So no pictures, no jobs (only one audition offered when I was told I was perfect for lots of work) and I'm out $300! And I'm not a newbie but someone with working credits already. Take my advice and walk away if Emerald City Model & Talent calls you back about a job. read more

Emerald City provided almost all the background actors and one of the principal actors on our motion picture "Forbidden Power." It was a wonderful experience. John Harb delivered exactly what we wanted, when we wanted it and at the right price. I have been in the film business for over 40 years and John is one of the best. No nonsense. When I described what background players I needed, he matched them well. They were on time, dressed exactly as described and ready to work. They were patient with the filmmaking process and hopefully all had a good experience. When I tried to get some talent from other agencies that I won't mention, I didn't even get a timely phone call back. John was always ready and handled our needs even when he had to go out of town for a few days. This is a tough town for talent in many ways, and I feel for those that have had bad experiences. I was an extra once on a big movie and that was the last time partly because I was so badly treated by a PA. My goal at Victory Studios is to treat background actors well so they have a good experience because at minimum they deserve it. We tried our best on this picture. I look forward to using John again on our next project and I hope we can get more principal actors through his agency. Unprofessional and sketchy. I called the day of the appointment after reading various reviews to make sure they weren't going to ask for any money and I was told I needed to get headshots and he kept rudely repeating that they couldn't be "done by my neighbor." I decided to give it a shot and took the 40 minute drive to the tiny office to be told that my portfolio was unprofessional and I wouldn't get picked by any casting agencies unless I had photos done by them. I was told I was getting a "good deal" and that "other agencies charge thousands" (they don't - real, reputable agencies don't charge a cent). I told them it's their job to invest in me if they think I have the look and I was told I would have to "invest in myself" because they don't know if I would get jobs. Excuse me, you've been an agent for years and you don't know what casting directors are looking for? Why would I invest in you if you're telling me you might not get me jobs? They pointed to the checks people they've signed have gotten for various jobs and I really didn't care because this whole sales pitch wouldn't have been necessary had they not wanted to take my money. I told him I wasn't going to pay for anything and he said "I understand money's tight" condescendingly as though that's why I was refusing to pay. He told me that everyone had to invest in themselves in this industry. I told him I could replicate whatever type of photo he wanted me to take for my headshots/comp card (I'm also a photographer) and he was saying that it probably wouldn't be good enough but to send it to him anyway and he would see what he could do in terms of getting some jobs for me without me paying for them to do my photos (again emphasizing that I probably wouldn't get any jobs with my photos). I walked out and I'm not looking back. - EDIT: I was sent a threatening email by them. My review was entirely honest (and I have the word of a second person who was there to back me up), so defamation charges CANNOT be pressed against me. They ask for either 300$ to get you "extra" gigs with a 12 by 8 photo, or you can pay double and recieve a 12 by 8 with a large picture and three smaller ones beneath it for bigger gigs. This TV show is fantastic. I love it. Great costumes, scenery, Actors, filming, plot!!!!

We went in and they painted a picture of multiple auditions my daughter would be able to go on and they showed us a successful young child who had made it big in a national commercial using their agency. I fell for it and paid the $700 to have her pictures taken. Once the pictures came in, they chose one of the worst pictures of my daughter for her main photo. It was terrible so I have them select a different one. We waited and waited for a call for an audition. Nothing. I would call them and they would always promise me that there was something coming up and I would be sure to be getting a call soon. We received no calls. This place is a total scam! They try to impress you with all the fame and money you will get. I didn't listen to my gut and shelled out $600! The very next day I called to say I had changed my mind. This was less than 24 hours later. I offered to pay $100 for their time and crummy overexposed digital photo but that they would refund the rest. I got an email saying they have a "no refund" policy!! They were willing to refund $200! What on earth did they do to earn $400! NOTHING! Stay away from these scammers. read more
