We watched D&D last night (amazing movie btw!) and have come here a few times in the past, but wanted to leave this review, because of the amazing staff there. Especially, Lacey. We were ordering from the concession stand with about 30 other moviegoers and I've never seen such professionalism, expert handling (imagine a timer set for each fryer/order, restocking, and interacting with customers all at once), and friendliness when cooking up and delivering order after order. The food was great, everyone was happy and the wait was minimal given how well she was managing the food prep. The theatre is always clean and is usually our go-to theater living in Detroit. All together Emagine has the best theaters, but Woodhaven is definitely the best of the best. read more

They really need to improve the reclining feature in the chair it does not work well. But more importantly I was there last night night a single person handling food wore gloves. The one young lady was constantly playing with her hair with bare hands then going right into the popcorn bin. Not a single employee handling food in the front had their hair tied up or cover like food codes don't exist. For some reason they have 10 people standing behind the counter bumping into each other and only two of the slowest cashiers. The recline on both my girlfriends seat and mine were broken. When I left the theater to use the bathroom, I stopped by the bar to get a drink and no one was tending the bar. They said it would be at least 5 minutes before anyone would get there. So I wouldve had to miss more of my movie. And we paid for the "EMAX" which didn't even cover the whole screen. There were black bars on the sides. It wasn't even using the whole screen, which looked like a normal size screen. Emagine woodhaven is trash! read more

Unfortunately, this theatre has really gone downhill. They probably should have kept it closed. Everything is sticky. The bathrooms don't have soap or paper towel. Some of the seats work & some don't. The employees seem miserable & vacant. Today, my bill was $15.68. I gave the lady $20.68. This confused her greatly. She gave me $16 change. When I got to my seat I realized this. My husband took back the $11 that was her's. She didn't understand what the problem was & tried to give it back to him. Then tried giving him a $5 & he said no. We kept the $5 that was ours. This is for the drawer. She was annoyed and totally not getting that she gave me back what my bill was. It was weird and awkward. read more

Not a good experience overall. Haven't been to emagine in about 15 years, so thought I'd give it a try. bought my tickets online and when I waited in line to scan them they just said I was all set to go in, so really anyone could just walk in. My daughter wanted a stuffed animal that was on the sign for display for purchase for the movie that came out last night and they said they didn't have them. Never got them and never will. Ok so why put out advertisement for it? Purchased a fountain coke to drink, absolutely disgusting. Went to use the restroom and the first stall I went in had no lock, the second stall had no toilet paper. Went to wash my daughter's hands as she's scared of the dryers, no paper towels as the machine is broke. We were the absolutely only ones in the entire theatre and I'm not suprised why. The youngest of all the movie houses in the downriver area. Is Woodhaven even considered the downriver area? I don't know, but most of downriver goes here to watch movies and attend premiers as well. Emagine theatres are what started the whole grown up drinks with your movie. It's a pretty good movie house at that. This one features an all industrial feel to it. After purchasing your tickets and picking out your assigned seats, you walk in to their massive concession area. Here you are greeted with high exposed ceilings and a combination of brick and polished concrete floors. Just like any movie house concession area, there's a snack bar, where there you can purchase your drinks, popcorn, candies, such and such. The other side features a booze bar, where here you get your adultsy drinks for your movie going experience. Service is great, convenient and they keep the line going at all times. The theatres are easy to get to. They're kept clean and the seats are very comfy. Remember, these seats are assigned seating, so do go to your seat or an usher will ask you to go to your designated seat instead. Please follow the rules and don't embarrass your friends. Emagine is a great theatre. I only wish it were a little closer to home, but it's definitely worth the drive. The common area is clean and spacious. Their concession stand is much cleaner than MJR but the prices about the same. They also have a bar if you fancy an expensive cocktail with your show. Emagine isn't usually busy, which means you can enjoy a movie in relative peace. Their matinee ticket prices are $6 vs. MJR's $5, but I'm willing to pay a buck more to sit in clean, spacious seats in a theatre that's not packed with rowdy teens. read more

Our 'movie with the Momma' theater if we'll be staying in my Mom's neck of the woods. We used to do MJR Southgate, which was fine (i never noticed loitering kids), but this place is closer, newer and cleaner. $5 matinees (before 6pm), even on weekends. Snack prices are expensive, but that's common for all theaters now. Comfortable seating. Very nice picture and sound quality. Restrooms, and the whole place, have always been spotless. read more

Big big fan of this theater. You can pre buy seats online to avoid showing up for a movie that's already sold out. Also they have oven baked pizzas that they make fresh for you and they are amazing. Their drink setup where you can get your own refills is also top notch! Chairs are comfy and the theaters are small but the screens are still premium size. Staff is always very cordial. A Michigan-Based cinematic experience. Emagine theaters are great, but each one is different, and should be celebrated as such. For example, there is an Emagine Theater either in Rochester Hills or Royal Oak or something that has a bowling alley, and is a big deal. Then there is the Canton, MI location (my personal favorite), which has the fancy chairs that recline in some of the theaters and have the upgraded picture/sound for some movies. The Woodhaven location is a great location also, but it is not the same experience as the Canton Emagine. At this location, you still have decent ticket prices, good selection of fresh snacks on snacks and a bar. I personally love having a bar at the movie theater. I drink beer at home when I watch movies, I like to drink beer when I watch them in public too. Words of Warning: There is a two drink cut off, and you have to have a wrist band on, and they always ID. Also, if you order a stronger mixed drink such as a Long Island Ice Tea, they will give you that flamboyant wrist band and give you an X indicating that you're cut off for the evening. The beers are a little pricey, but are a decent size, so once in a while- not bad. PRO TIP: Sneak your own beers in your girl/wife's purse or coat pockets for savings. The theaters do not have the big comfy seats like the Canton location has. I have not really been to any other downriver movie theaters so I do not have much locally to compare this venue with around here, but this is my go to location for the most part. read more

Went there on Friday evening. One person at ticket counter. The 2 ladies before us listened and asked questions for 10 minutes regarding the new policies regarding ticket purchases. The 4 of us waiting wondered what was taking so long. Then it was our turn. The new policy is that you can buy just your ticket to see the movie, or spend an additional $8 to be able to buy concessions. Concessions include pizza, popcorn (bucket size), or pre-bagged candy. No Snocaps though! If you opt for ticket only, NO CONCESSIONS allowed. Nothing to drink, or eat. Not sure what brainiac thought that one up, but we all almost walked out. Went into theater and the seats were awful. Don't recline very far back. Portion holding your legs never gets flat, always has a bend in it. Controls aren't easy to see in the dark and are not user friendly. For 15 minutes we watched a green tinted screen showing ads, etc. Made us leery about what the quality of the movie would be. Upon asking an attendant, we were told they'd had quality issues with the clarity, but thought they'd cleared them up. All this, before the movie even started. We spent $36 for 3 seniors, plus $20 for a teen who had to have candy. We suffered through the movie without so much as water. Never going back! Be warned. read more

My wife and i drove past this establishment on April 22nd and noticed it was closed. The emagine sign is gone from the top of the entrance. There is an AMC flag on the top where it used to be. I guess it went under?? Since living downriver for a year, I've only been here like 3 times was never busy, service was quick and easy. This place is rarely crowded. In fact it's usually a ghost town. I like the lack of crowds, though I wonder if it makes enough to sustain. The popcorn is usually fresh tasting (and it's vegan, so BONUS) and the drink machine provides endless options. The screens are clean and clear. Clean theater and not very busy or crowded. It was really easy to get concessions before entering. I am used to seat selection when purchasing via the Emagine app so I was surprised I couldn't for this location. It wasn't a weekend or new movie but I've always been able to select my seat at the Royal Oak location. I was disappointed that the theater for my selected movie had the older seats (non lounging, non reclining), but they were still pretty comfy. read more

I've been to this theater several times. It's close by and convenient, for the most part that is why I give them my business. This place is just okay, I take my children here. Yes they serve alcohol... but I don't partake. The prices have recently raised. Six bucks a matinee and a popcorn and drink almost twelve bucks. I feel prices are a bit out of control. This theater does not have the recliners, If they did that might justify the price increase. This theater is nothing special basically. One other thing and this really irks me is on the weekends, you have to choose a seat, whether it's a full sell out or not. To me this is ridiculous. Emagine Woodhaven is almost like an adults only theater. Not that kids aren't welcome but when we were there, we did not see one disrespectful teenager or totally obnoxious youngster as far as the eye could see. Ahhhh, sweet, sweet movie theater peace. You can't put a price on that. The seats plush, the screen crystal clear, the whole theater sparkling clean. From top to bottom, this is the best theater I have been to as an adult. This is my go to movie theater future forward. The more I see movies here, the more I really appreciate this movie theatre! The #1 Best thing about this place is that it's not a popular place for the younger people so you get a lot of older crowd which is awesome since older people are quiet and considerate of others! Out of 5 times I went to see a movie here. I never had one problem with cell phones, too much talking, rude people! Their rival is MJR in Southgate and that is where all the teenagers are hanging out so Emagine for now is the place to go to really enjoy a good theatre experience! Few thing that also cater to adults and patrons here are Alcohol is served here. You can buy beer or mixed drinks while watching your movie! I haven't done that yet but it's an option. I am sure it's pricey. Another great feature is that you can pick your seats! It comes in handy so you don't get stuck seating all the way in the front or back. My favorite spot in toward the front behind the wheelchair area railing. I can prop my feet up and enjoy the show. The screen isn't too big so I can see everything clearly. The seats are nice and the screen and sound is great size for smaller theatre rooms. The concession is pretty good. Better then MJR i believe. The soft pretzels with warm cheese dip is great. They also have hot dogs, pizza, and other hot meals. One negative thing would be that it's usually cold inside from the A/C. So bring a jacket even on a hot day. read more

Showed up to see a movie and was asked to select our seats at the ticket counter. They show you the available seats in the theater on a computer screen. I could see LOTS of single seats available all throughout the theater with couples leaving an empty seat between the next couple( I do that too if the theater is half full) I said to the employee that I would ask one of the many people if they wouldn't mind moving over one seat so my wife and I could sit together. He said they don't allow that because of the assigned seat thing. We walked away with our money intact, but frustrated. Is this a new thing at all theaters? I love this movie theater! Ever since it has opened up, it has been the place where my husband and I ALWAYS go to see movies. We love the theater, always clean and huge! You wont find crusty popcorn all over the floor, in the theater or lobby area. Never disgustingly crowded (unless its a Twilight premier). Staff is awesome and friendly. My favorite part is the concession stand. I am one of those people that can't skip the snacks when I go to a movie, more specifically the popcorn!!!! I have my favorite girl at the concession stand, she doesn't know it, but my husband and I have coined her "BUTTER GIRL". When she asked us the first time if we wanted butter, we didn't know what we got our selves into!! She hooked it up in the best way possible. There is nothing I hate more than dry bland popcorn. Later we discovered there were TWO of them! Twins! Two butter girls...there is a god. ADULTS: they have a full bar, but get ready to pay the price. Not too cheap. I recently saw the new Star Wars movie at this theater. Normally I don't see movies the first weekend they're out but Star Wars is one of those movies I couldn't wait for. I was told by someone that the Emagine theaters are by far the best in the area, so I decided to give it a try and drove 20 minutes to the Woodhaven location. The theater itself is very nice. The seats are very comfortable and the stadium seating is very steep so no matter how tall the person is in front of you their head is not going to come close to blocking your view of the screen. The screen is very sharp and the sound quality is outstanding. I didn't get any snacks as the prices are outrageous but in-line with other theaters. It was very clean, and the employees were friendly and helpful It's the nicest movie theater I've ever been to. So why not five stars? I don't like how it's reserved seating. The process you have to go through to buy your ticket is to go online, select your movie and the time you want to see it, then a map of the theater comes up and shows what seats are sold and what seats are empty and you have to choose empty seats obviously and then you have to sit in your assigned seats. But what if you don't like the person that sitting next to you? Let's say they smell really bad. In a regular theater I could move, but at this Theater during a popular movie you can't move because you'll probably be in somebody else's seat. So when the next Star Wars movie comes out I won't come here because I don't want to take a chance sitting next to somebody that smells or something and not being able to move. So that's why I'm only giving it four stars. But I would definitely come back to this theater to see movies it won't draw as big a crowd so I could move if I wanted to. read more

I am not really sure why this theatre is getting almost 5 stars. It was an okay place to see a movie, but I was expecting to be blown away! Nothing about the experience compared to MJR seemed to justify the slightly higher prices on everything. If the prices were the same I would come here because the seating is definitely better. The stadium seats go up very high and are so steep the person below you is totally out of your field of vision. I was expecting the popcorn to be gourmet but it was not that good. Plus they were asking $1 extra for "real butter" but I was dubious of that claim. I had just eaten dinner so did not sample the $6 pizza. Could it be worth $6? They do serve alcohol. Do they put $9 worth of liquor in each drink? If you buy a drink you can also get a large popcorn for *only* $5.25. Just revisit your childhood and sneak some in! Many of the other reviews mentioned they prefered the crowd here over MJR. I saw an older movie so my theatre was pretty empty. It was a Saturday evening and the lobby was much less crowded than MJR so they might be right. They have different show times than MJR which is nice, and they have also have a rewards card if you make this your primary theatre. read more

Seems to be an ok theatre. Higher prices than MJR, smaller bathrooms. We let someone at the front know that throughout our entire movie we were getting static for periods of time every 15 minutes or so. I wasn't asking for anything but I think when people are paying for a movie you should offer some compensation when they miss frequent chunks of it because they are looking at static, just good customer service. It was a little too cold in the theatre also, had to put my winter coat back on. MJR is closer to where I stay when I am in town so I would not go out of my way to go here but if it is convenient I may consider it. The being able to drink thing doesn't really draw me because a movie theatre is probably the last place I would want to sit and drink but if that's your thing I guess this is the place to go. read more

Today was a very frusting experience at this theater , there were 10 of us that wanted to see the movie Sister's. before we arrived I call theater to inquire about one of our group members were handicap and had hearing disabilities they assured me that they had equiptment for this one person we arrived at the theater and proceed to give out license and they than give us the equiptment . We went to our seats , and the equiptment did. Not work they told us that they only had 2 units and either of them are in not working order, so one of there guest sat throughout the movie and not hearing a word.
