Great way to start 2025! This is a bare bones, unsupervised, range. some things to bring with you are: chair(s) person, table blanket to protect your items on the concrete shooting tables, garbage bags, broom and pan to clean up your brass, target(s) and stand, stakes and hammer, shooting rests, water/drink/cooler. Safety is everyone's responsibility-don't be afraid to speak up. Party next to me was not respecting muzzle discipline of their shotguns and became annoyed when I mentioned it. Afterward two fellow shooters thanked me. Communicate if you need a cease fire to go down range - people are cooperative. There are holes in the shade structure so mishaps do occur. There's also a RC flying field across the way if you or guests need a distraction. There are port-potty's available. read more

It was our first time at this range, we went on Wednesday at 4pm and it seemed to be the right time to go, and the range closes at 5pm- luckily only a few other shooters there. Only downside to it- people don't clean up after themselves. Casing everywhere and some left over targets with some trash- so if you make it out there, take water, targets, snacks and chairs! Just a suggestion. read more

This is a public range with no field marshals. We were lucky that at the times we attended, there were no unprofessional behaviors or incidents, so we enjoyed our experience. We used one of the cabana areas to the south. You need to bring your own chairs and target stands. The cabana we used also had three tables, so it worked perfectly for us. read more

Perfect for those who know what they're doing and don't require a range master's supervision or guidance; that being said, this place is frequented by experienced shooters who will certainly intervine is someone is being unsafe or foolish. Costs $0, you must bring your own ammo and targets, and availability is on a first-come-first-serve basis; you just pick your lane and own it until you're done shooting. Everything you would expect from a public range. Don't leave your trash behind, leave the place better than you found it so we can all continue to enjoy this gem. read more

This is copied directly from the Arizona City website: "The Elsy Pearson range in Casa Grande, AZ has one 100 yard rifle and two 50 yard rifle/ pistol lines and two shorter (25 yard) pistol ranges. It is a well-maintained, clean, and free place to shoot. It's nothing fancy, but ranges don't need to be. The hours are 7am to 5pm daily.. Please call for more information. It's an unsupervised range, with no safety officers. The rules are printed on a big metal sign-- there are about six rules, all basically saying "be safe, don't be an idiot". The range is run by the Casa Grande Parks & Recreation Department and is free for public use. There's a nearby range for police use only, There is also the Casa Grande Trap Club about a quarter-mile north, for those who prefer shotguns. The public rifle range is simple and spartan (metal roof, concrete benches), but well-maintained. Large berms serve as backstops, and there's Casa Grande mountain beyond the berms to catch any stray bullets. The range doesn't have any "permanent facilities" but does have a "Porta-Poty." There are no restrictions on the type of firearms used (but they do restrict tracers and incendiary rounds for obvious fire safety reasons) --Full-auto is permissible with proper NFA documentation. Elsy Pearson range is just slightly over six miles from Arizona City. To get there go West on Bataglia to Henness Rd (N). It dead ends at Isom where you turn West and follow around the south end of Casa Grande mountain. You will see the range on the right. Went on a weekday morning and was pleased. Good crowd but not packed. All there were respectful, responsible knowledgeable. Lucky to have a good and safe group not knowing what may show up on a public range. Happy and will be back. read more

Five Stars, but you have to understand something, This is an unsupervised shooting range, no range officers. So the quality of your experience is entirely on your shoulders. Be safe, clean up after yourselves, respect other shooters and cooperate on ceasefires. You will find some covered benches but no seating. Bring your own stool or folding chair. Bring your own targets and frames. I like to just use a large cardboard box. Folds flat in my vehicle, easy to stand up and tape targets to. Weigh it down with some 2x4. I drive down here because I got sick and tired of the rudeness of range officers at Rio Salado. There is something very wrong with those people that I do not experience at the other ranges I visit. The great thing about the Elzy Pearson Shooting Range is it is a blend between just going out into the desert and going to a supervised range. So you have shade, benches and berms and a degree of informality that is very relaxing. I have used the pistol and the rifle range, can't speak to the shotgun areas but did see them being very busy. But like I say, you have to be friendly, get along with your short term neighbors, pick up after yourselves. As always, be responsible for your own safety. Do those things and you can have a great time at this facility. Oh, and bring water or snacks. There's a Port-A-Potty, but that's it. read more

This range is free to the public. There are no range officers. If you're going to shoot here, pack up as you would for the desert. There are benches to use and tarps overhead. There are no targets or stands. No boxes are allowed. You will need a target stand and steel plates or paper targets. It gets windy, bring a staple gun. It's possible to stage a whole course if you wanted to, most likely on a weekday. Weekends are packed in the mornings. Bring your eye and ear pro! read more

Have been to many times and it is hard to beat. Very clean area, especially for being free! It is possible to make reservations also but we usually just show up and find a spot. The majority of the people that you encounter are very friendly and are helpful. Like others have said, bring your own targets and ammo as there isn't a place near to buy either of those. read more

I think this is a cool place to go we had a group of 6 and we brought two hand guns to shoot, you do have to bring your own stand for your targets because there is nothing there that you can barrow to hold up your targets at all. Also our group was on the second range to the right and the people on the range to the left of us were shooting there guns at a car towards our way instead of shooting towards the dirt area which I think is very unsafe and they shouldn't be able to shoot that way only towards the dirt area where no one would be standing in case a bullet were to go over the dirt area read more
