Lily is honest, hardworking, and super talented. She will walk you through what is possible with your current hair and stress the importance of working through a process. You won't be disappointed. usually get babylights and a rootmelt. There isn't a harsh line when my hair grows out and I always get compliments at work. I'll always come back to Lily. I trust her with my hair and walk out happy every time. She recently moved to a different salon and it's a super cute location with parking.
To be seeing the same hair colorist for almost 10 years I think says a lot. Lily and her team have been my go to for every major event in the last 10 years! From my everyday hair, holidays, photoshoots and my wedding! I trust Lily and her team and have always left the salon with exactly what I wanted. Lily cares about the integrity of your hair and will be straightforward with how your hair will come out. I'd rather a hair colorist give you their expertise and not milk you for every penny. Thanks Lily and your team for always making me feel beautiful and giving me the light hair from dark hair.
Lily has been a part of every special event in my life for over 10 years. From pharmacy school, to graduation, engagement, wedding, and two kids, she has taken care of my hair. Our first session was a correction. Since then, we have done pinks, purples, brunette, and blonde. My hair has stayed very healthy and luscious throughout as Lily is the best! Aizley and Monica are also so sweet! They have helped with my mom's hair and blowouts.
I would love to get my $400 plus tip back that would be the best way to handle this. You know that you did not produce what I wanted. You know my hair was in great condition you know I never asked for Ronald McDonald Hair I showed you specifically what I wanted. Times are tough I don't have and didn't have that kind of money sitting around , I would love a refund and know you know it's the right thing to do. If I get a full refund I will remove my review. Before I found Lily, no one seemed to know how to deal with my hair. I'd leave the salon with poor color, a bad bleach job, and out $600. Then come 2021, I was recommended Lily by one of my friends who had been seeing Lily for years. From just a quick look, Lily immediately knew how to fix my hair. She takes her time with each layer, masterfully creating dimensions and depth that left me unable to stop ogling at my gorgeous locks in the mirror. That was when I knew I had found the one. For as long as Lily still operates her salon, I'll continue entrusting my hair in her skilled hands.
3rd time at Elsyian and 2nd session with Lily! I just want to recommend Lily to all my babylights/balayage baddies -- she's very good at her work and gives you honest opinions when you're deciding what to do with your hair. My first session with her we did a balayage and I didnt see her after 8+ months later. My hair grew and the way the color faded made it look like I got highlights. For my second session I did babylights and 2.5 months later, I'm still getting compliments about my hair. I originally wanted to go shorter but Lily recommended to cut only a few inches and I'm glad I listened to her. If you're looking to get your hair done, I highly suggest going to Lily! Yes, her services might be a little pricey but she really provides you with an exceptional service.
To : Monica L Let me just start off, I had a very bad experience with another hair stylist a few months prior to my appointment with Monica and of course was kind of scared of the results.. Monica was super sweet. She understood my concerns and definitely does put in her effort into the work she does!! Service I got : - Quick Trim - Heat Curled Hair : Beautiful curls!! I need to learn how to curl them like that! Haha! - Baby Lights : She made sure that each section was even to the other! The baby lights actually shows if I part my hair half way up! Although Monica falls under the "Junior Stylist," she most definitely has more experience then my pervious "Professional" hair stylist! I can't wait to come back for another session! Rosaline did an incredible job! I had my hair highlighted two weeks ago at another salon and left disappointed and upset. My hair was left brassy and different tones and my gray hair not covered. It was as I did my own at home highlights. Today Rosalind did her magic and listened to what I needed corrected. She took care of the grays and also corrected the brassiness. I will be seeing her again!!
Been going to lily for 10 years . Try other salon before coming to her and no one can does work like her. I would highly recommend her to anyone because she care about your hair not like other salon. At least she would make sure to see can your hair handle first before doing any bleaching to your hair . Highly recommend !!
I have been going to Lily for 3-4 years alternating between balayage and babylights. She helped me maintain my super dimensional silver hair the entire time (with lots of home care too) and got so many compliments! People literally stop me in the streets to ask me where I got my hair done. Any time I get a haircut my stylist always comments that whoever bleached my hair did an amazing job (even my most recent cut even though it's been 1.5 years since I last saw Lily!). If you think the services here are pricey- just know that you're getting the best and it's totally worth it. I tried 2 other salons before sitting with Lily that were just as expensive but with much worse results and the stylists didn't care about me or what I wanted at all. Lily has so much personality, will be honest with you about what you can achieve in that sitting, come up with a plan with you to get your dream hair and really is amazing at what she does.
Lily has been my go-to stylist since I moved up here in 2020! She really prioritizes your hair health and is great at creating different toner formulas to achieve beautiful colors and results. I love the way she blends her root melts, because she creates a very low maintenance color style that grows out very nicely and doesn't need to be touched up for another 4-5 months. I would definitely recommend her salon if you're looking for a new place to get your hair done!
I've been seeing Lily for the past 6 years and she's still the queen!! She's taken me from virgin hair to ashy brown, to blonde and back to rich brunette. From balayage to babylights, root melts and overall bombshell hair, there is nothing she can't do. She has so much experience, especially in lifting dark Asian hair, she simply can't be beat. Her intuition and ability to sculpt, hand paint and color the hair gives amazing results no matter how high you want your hair lifted. She takes great pride in her work and I've traveled from out of state just to see her because I trust her.
Lily is an angel to me. I first came to Lily 12 years ago when she was first starting out. I never forgot how amazing she was and she has become so popular! She's easy to talk to, honest and hard working. She's very skilled at what she does. Quite simply, she's the best. I have always thought of coming back as I've tried several hairstylists. Most recently, my other hairstylist did highlights and I'm not sure what happened but it came out too light and very streaky. I knew just who to go to fix this. I was in Lily's chair for 4 hours and the result was worth it. I exhaled when Lily showed me the results! Look at her Instagram @hairbylily408. She is a miracle worker. She also has a ton of other reviews at her Hair By Lily Yelp page. Her salon is located on Meridian Avenue (not Park Avenue as the other Yelp page says). Also my friend got her hair done by Lily and it looks wonderful. My friend has followed Lily on Instagram for years. Lily suggested we could coordinate our time to get our hair done together next time we're both due. We are going to do this! Also, the salon is unpretentious and I felt relaxed. I connected to Lily's WiFi and just was reading and also catching up with Lily. Put your trust in Lily-- I let her decide the color with the exception that it just not be red (don't care for that color). I will always recommend her to anyone. My experience with Rosie has been nothing but AMAZING! I went in for Babylight & Root Melt service. Rosie took the time to listen to what I wanted and even offered some helpful suggestions that suited my face shape, skin tone and hair type. The end result was even better than I imagine. The salon was very clean and other hairstylists were also friendly during my visit. I highly recommend going to Rosie! read more
It's been over a year since I got my hair done with Lily, and I still can't believe I spent $700.00 for a cut and color, for someone instead of fixing my hair, making it look worse. When I got there, after my encounter with her ( she very rude ) I showed her a photo of what I wanted she said that's a lowlight and I said yes thats what I want. I was going to leave initially because she was arguing with me that she can't do a lowlight. Then when I was leaving she said you should just trust me I will do your hair as to where it will look like you have lowlights. I took her word for it as I drove over an hour and a half from where I live because she has a lot of followers and does classes on hair I thought she wouldn't mess my hair up, but boy. I was completely wrong. After the service I messaged her to see if she could fix it and put in lowlights she said she will charge me 50 dollars for the product. After paying 700.00 to get this crap hair job and her giving me so much attitude after I'd been nothing but kind to her just left such a bad taste in my mouth. People should be aware of what they are walking into. I will never forget this experience and I wish I could get my money back along with my hair. I was in need of a new hair transformation. I was searching on Instagram and found @hair_by_nt . I say the pricing is just right $450 to $500. Better than a global blonde pricing. My hair was thic and needed a lot of work. I gave her extra tip for her hard work. I love her work and I understand my hair color will fade to the blonde blonde I want. I got an ash tone. She gave a clear consultation and guided me in the right direction of my hair goals when I was unsure with what I wanted! I've been getting my hair done by Lily for about 1.5 years now and each time I always leave satisfied! I constantly receive compliments on my hair -- even when I'm overdue for an appointment my hair still looks blended. She's experienced and will do what is best for your hair while achieving the look you want. I always enjoy my appointments with Lily especially since we are both proud plant mamas (: I'm so lucky I was able to snag a last minute opening from being on the cancellation list. My first appointment with Lily was way back in 2015 -- we've (her, me, my hair) have been through a lot together, haha. Lily is honest, hilarious, hardworking, and talented. I'm so happy about how far she's come -- this new salon location is spacious (plenty of distancing if this is still a thing in the future ;), loads of character and natural light, and in a beautiful neighborhood. I remember when I first came to Lily, she gave me an honest + straightforward assessment of my current hair condition, what we could achieve on that particular visit (balayage?), and what to plan / expect for future visits. It can be a big bummer if you've seen her beautiful work on social media and you're expectations are too high, haha -- but NOW (through a first-hand, horrible experience at a different salon in so.Cal) I know that Lily's actually taking care of you by NOT DAMAGING your hair by DOING EXACTLY WHAT YOU WANT every time. If she can achieve what you want, in a realistic healthy manner, she will. She also gives great recommendations on post-care. I trusted her to get my hair looking it's best for my engagement photos and wedding back in 2016-- I still love how it turned out. Lily advised me to keep it more natural with brunette babylights and I appreciate that now-- classy + timeless! I've lived all over: NorCal, NYC, and now back in soCal -- but I always look forward to seeing Lily -- I even fly and Lyft to my appointments now. I find myself relaxing in her chair, knowing she is an expert in her craft, cares about your hair and her her work. Come with a sense of humor, respect her experience and wisdom, bring water + food + phone charger. I agree with the other reviews that state that the price posted is only an estimate -- may change with thickness or length of your hair, etc.. I've been following Lily on Instagram for years. (I fell in love with her work even before she opened up her own salon.) I finally decided to commit to an appointment last October 2017. I don't live in San Jose, so I had to find a Saturday appointment. And since the roommate is off between lunch and dinner, I wanted a morning one. I finally went on Saturday, April 21st at 10am. (Yes, I made my appointment 6 months in advance!) I'd advise leaving extra time to find parking as they have a parking lot, but there were no spaces open. I luckily found a spot on a residential street. Lily Duong (Master Colorist) - "I want it all" ($450): Wanting that whole package look? Babylights with ombré. The most amount of lift you can get in one session. Instead of doing Babylights one session and coming back for ombré. This will save you time and money. (Price determined by length and density.) Above is the description provided of the service I booked. I knew I wanted to go blonde, so I decided to just go for the whole package. When I arrived, Lily asked me what I wanted and I showed her some pix I liked of past services she has done. I told her I trust her, so whatever she thinks would look good on me and work with my hair. After that, she went to work. Four hours later, I was transformed! I'm really loving the color. The pic I'm posting makes it look more golden, but it's actually more ashy in person. Lily did email (and later texted) a few weeks prior for a $100 deposit. They don't have CC machines, so I just sent her my deposit through Venmo. Quick and easy. After the appointment, I paid the rest of the balance and tip through Venmo as well. Pricey, but so worth it! I've had other people color my hair, and they've never been able to get this amount of lift in one session. I'm so happy I finally got my hair did with this master colorist. Let's just say Lily works her magic. She definitely knows what she is doing. She is awesome and and so sweet. She makes you feel welcomed and time flies so fast at the salon. My hair feels so healthy and the blending of the color is perfect. She is a perfectionist. I highly recommend her and investing in an Amazing hair dresser. I also travel from San Francisco to just see her. Worth the drive and moneys worth. read more

I had to find a new Bay Area hair stylist since I haven't gone to a salon since pre-covid. I was so lucky to find Aizley (The a is silent like in aisle). I booked an appointment with her online like a month in advance for a Saturday because she was pretty booked out on weekends. I came in with brassy box dyed hair with a terrible cut that I snipped myself. I explained the look I wanted "ashy streaks that pop... that really expensive salon hair that makes other girls standing in line behind me look at my hair" and I showed her some images and she gave me the exact color and cut I wanted. I really appreciated that she checked my foils multiple times and added bleach to make sure they weren't going to come out brassy. Aizley is super professional and hardworking. Although she had another client overlap my time she was very focused and made sure to check on both of us. I was at the salon from 11:45am to 7:30pm. If you have hair that doesn't lift easily, I'd recommend an early appointment. I booked for babylights but I wasn't sure what the differences between the options were until I got there in person. She gave options of $350, $450, $550 depending on what look I was going for / how light I wanted my hair / what my hair could handle. I ended up with the $550 option. The haircut was an additional $60. She was able to add in olaplex for me (this makes the bleaching take longer, but it was worth the wait because my hair feels softer). I am nervous about the toner fading fast but she said it should be ok and recommended that I buy Fanola blue shampoo from salonguys, not Amazon (and to use it for up to 30 minutes after normal shampoo). 100% worth my time and money. I'll be back in 5-6 months! read more

My boyfriend's sister recommended Lily to me but she was fully booked and referred me to Aizley. The very first time I went I was there all day lol. I think I got baby lights the first appt and a ton of color correction due partly to my own fault and my previous colorist. Aizley did a super great job getting the band of orange out as much as she could and toned it dark enough to cover it. In all honesty, my hair was really fried from previous bleach sessions done elsewhere. There was really bad banding from when I colored my roots with 40vol lol. I promised I'd never do it again. I wasn't happy with how dark my hair was from the first appt but I also knew it was my fault. Aizley did amazing work to correct my mistake haha. Months later I came back for my follow up appt with Aizley and this time I got the "I want it all" and again my hair is fried already BUT I totally was able to get the gray ashy blonde I really wanted! I've gotten two sessions done with NT and will continue to book appointments with her! I did an "I want it all" package for my first session to lighten my whole head. It was almost 6 months grown out, with natural black hair near the ends. NT was able to bring me to a light blonde in just one session! My hair is thin and naturally black, but does lift fairly easily. More recently, I finished a "babylights and root melt" session with NT to bring the blonde higher and re-tone. This brought me to an ashy blonde, some parts almost white blonde. I will attach a photo from after the 2nd session. There will be damage done to your hair because of the bleaching process, but from all the times I've bleached, my hair barely feels damaged just one month after the appointment. It is a pricier service, but around average pricing for San Jose area. The care and patience that NT puts in makes the price worth the results. read more

I've been looking for a color specialist who has experience working with darker hair and I was lucky to snag an appointment with Lily for babylights + root melt and a hair cut! My hair was already color-treated so I had concerns about damaging my hair if I colored it again. Lily was patient with me throughout the consultation and she's so knowledgable about what my hair needs to achieve the lighter colors I was looking for! The other staff members were also incredibly welcoming, which added to the overall chill vibes at the salon. I'm very happy with the final results - the color feathers in gradually around the roots and I love that we were able to achieve the "ashy" look I wanted. I'll definitely be coming back in the near future. :) read more

FIRST THING FIRST.. NT is a queen at taking care of your hair inspirations! I found out about Elysian hair studio by a stranger whos hair I absolutely fell in love with. She said NT was her stylist and I knew that I wanted my hair to be done by her! Elysian hair studio is located in a great and calm Location. Studio is very clean, cute, and comforting. I WOULD HIGHLY recommend this studio for anyone looking for hair inspirations who is looking for quick results and at the same time having your hair taken care of. NT does an amazing job and makes sure you leave very happy with the results. Not to mention , hair taken care and healthy! My hair /roots was super grown out and at a darker tone. This review is long overdue. I don't write a lot of yelp reviews but I feel like I had to write one for NT. So I desperately needed my hair done before my birthday in May and I was able to book an appointment. ON A SATURDAY. NT was super quick to respond back and I was her first client in the morning. She's the newest one at the salon but my hair came out flawless. Seriously.. it was so pretty. It took a few hours and that's expected, especially when she had to trim my hair and do baby lights. She also curled my hair so I could go out with my girl later that day. And we had a mini photo shoot after lol. I'm so in love with my hair and never knew babylights were a thing. NT is without a doubt a hair goddess. She is literal magic sent down from the heavens to bless the poor brassy haired plebeians of northern California, myself included. As you can see in the photos, NT set out to help blend the varying levels of blonde in my long Filipino hair in a single day. I booked an "I want it all" appointment with the Olaplex add-on and spend roughly nine hours in her chair, as her single client. Let me tell you. I have THICK AF hair. I'm no stranger to colorists and hair gurus exasperatedly telling me that my hair is wildly thick. Yes, dear. I am well aware. NT stuck it out like a champ. Not only did she blend my entire head into a beautiful light silver/lilac tinted hue, but she also did a wondrous job with the root melt. She was super sweet, hilarious and attentive throughout. Trust me, nine hours is brutal when you don't adore your colorist. Luckily for me, NT is a pro. The photos I attached show the before, after, and the 2+ weeks post-coloring where you can clearly see how wonderfully CONSISTENT my blonde now looks. NT is a true hair wizard. My happiness was doubled when I came in to a separate salon in the east bay (not Lily's) for a standard keratin treatment, and the hair stylist ooo-ed and aaahh-ed over my dye job. She even called over her colleague to come over and admire my blonde. I think it can be a rarity to see such an evenly toned Asian blonde, especially when you're not in the south bay. I'm not going to sugarcoat it. NT is pricy. It's a fact. BUT YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. She is 100% worth it and I'll definitely be returning! read more

I've gone to Elysian a few times now and they do a great job with root melts, babylights, and balayage. Lily knows her stuff and she will give you an honest opinion on what you can do with your hair, which is super helpful (especially when you are a hair noob like me). You can book appointments online which is nice because you can see all the open slots and pick one that works for you. The last time I was there I got babylights done and the experience was great. While your hair is processing they have a seating area for you to sit with little snack stand and outlets to charge your phone. There's also free Wi-Fi and some magazines to look at. When they wash your hair they make sure to block the water from splashing on your face or into your ears. When your hair is all done and dry, they can style it with IG worthy beachy waves. read more
NT is an angel!!!!!!!! Scheduled my first appt yesterday and I've never been so satisfied with my hair like I am now. I honestly didn't even have to tell her what I wanted...she just knew. She mentioned that my hair wouldn't look perfect at first (it was orange...yes orange) but that she would do the best she could to get all that brass out. AND SHE DID! Omg I feel like a new person!!!!! She's super nice and makes sure you're comfortable..offered snacks and water. I also noticed that EVERYONE there is extremely helpful and super involved. I felt like I was with a group of friends looking out for each other. The salon is super clean, easy to find with lots of street parking. I am definitely 100% coming back! Lily the owner is racist, aggressive and very rude. I got referred to NT by Lily because Lily refused to take me as a client just because I stopped going to her back in 2018/2019 because I went thru a little financial hardship and she assumed I went to another hairstylist and she no longer wanted to take me in as her client. How unprofessional of her and than I got referred to NT by Lily so I went to my first session and after that they won't confirm my second session appointment nor will NT return my texts or my DMs. It's funny how NT can't respond to my DM but she's posting on Instagram every minute, extremely unprofessional and rude. There's lots of amazing hairstyles out there and this place think their the only ones. I see Lily will never be humbled. read more

I went to Aizley to get my hair fixed. my hair had tons of box dye in it and was super damaged, but she managed to make it look great! She was also super sweet and made sure I was okay with the color I was getting. I just wanted some brown highlights and I loved the end result. My hair was really difficult to work with since it wouldn't lift and then wouldn't take in color but it still looked great in my opinion. The pricing is super fair and The studio is very clean as well. 100% would recommend! read more
