Business owner put up a picture of his BBB rating. A lot of people don't realize that businesses have to PAY to be apart of the BBB. That's what the BBB cares about. Not how a business treats it's customers. I have no idea why insurance companies would even think about using this company. Absolutely horrible service. The owner of this company should be embarrassed. His companies reputation is absolute trash on Google and Yelp (check out the non recommended reviews). Driver finally showed up 2.5 hours late and didn't even say sorry. He also brought the wrong truck. He was lucky it started today or he would have to leave and get the correct truck. A tow request was made by my insurance. 4th time with Ely's, because we request them. Well, I have a screen record of being called a Fng Btch, A stupid Fng Btch, Why didn't I take my Fng ass out myself (I don't have a tow truck!!! Dumb ?) my daughter and 3 people were out and my truck just shut down on her, they pushed it into the parking lot she was near and they tried to work on it. I have tow on insurance as I said, so we just called them. Apparently insurance cancelled in confusion (yes I took this anger up with them as well) . Already upset at 2 AM (cause she waited with her boyfriend and 2 friends for the tow), I call and ask why she is sitting still! Very quickly, due to my anger and anxiety about my daughter - the cussing happened almost immediately (again, screen recorded) I eventually hung up, to call insurance. I then got the texts from Ely's for proof and lectures, which ended in parental advice of what time my daughter should be home. Whyyyyy I even responded to the parental advice portion is beyond me, but I took the bait. Truck broke down at 9 ON HER WAY HOME. they tried to fix it, I called for a tow at 10:20ish it appears, my daughter got a call for $17 of the tow that won't be covered and then no one showed. I have record of all that too. So when he tries to claim this is all untrue. I have our call recorded. I have our text conversation as well. Never again! read more

As luck would have it, this is who my insurance company calls when my daughters car breaks down on the side of the road when it's 10 degrees out. Needless to say they lived up to their reputation. 40 minutes after their scheduled arrival time we finally got a hold of someone that said the driver was going to be another 20 minutes. 30 minutes later the driver finally calls and says he isn't sure when he will be there. This place employs very inexperienced drivers. I called to have a flat fixed. The driver jacked my vehicle up. Upon releasing the jack, transmission fluid started squirting all over. This fool jacked my truck up and flattened all three lines that offset under my chassis. then refused to tow my truck away because it "wasn't his fault". Eliy's Towing is the worst! On Tuesday afternoon they said an hour and it was an hour and a half. They finally show up, husband repeated the address and business name. Driver assured my husband he knew where to take the car. Next morning call repair shop. No car! Ok, call service. They promise to take the car to where it belongs. Call shop 3 times, no car. I call shops around area, find it call Ely's and tell them to pick it up and take it he promised several times to do it. Nope. Still didn't happen. They finally get around to moving it on Thursday! The fellow who owns this is a horrible little man, very rude even though they lost our car! Do not use their service unless you don't mind spending time searching for your car. read more

I have allstate and when my car broke down on the side of the road they scheduled a tow with Ely's. This was at 7:30pm and I was told the earliest window they had was 9:30-10 so I waited. It was well over 90 degrees in full sun with no water but I waited. 10 came and went so I tried called ely's # from their automated text and nobody answered so I called allstate who tried numerous times to contact then with no answer so allstate suggested to cancel the call and put in a new one with another company. While on with allstate I got another automated text stating they were running late and would be there in 13 min. We then decided to not cancel as getting another company woukd take even more time. 30 minutes then passed and they still did not show up. I tried calling Ely's again and to my surprise a man actually answered. It was quite hard to hear him but sounded like he was in a bar! I explained the issue and that we had been waiting nearly 4 hours and a full 1.5 hours past our quoted time. He put on a whinning mocking tone and mocked me saying if we really needed to get in touch I should have told my insurance company to "shoot them a text" I hung up with him and decided to go ahead and call my insurance company back to cancel the tow and get another company. While doing so the truck finally arrived. It passed us. We were parked right next to the road so what happened next threw me off. The driver drove over a private businesses lawn to come to where we were. He then Hooks up the vehicle and towed it to my home. We finally got back st nearly midnight at which point I decided now that my vehicle was safely home that I needed to have words with him. When I complained about their atrocious survey he informed me he doesn't even work at Ely's yet was driving their truck. What in the world is going on with this company??? I suspect the only reason they are still in business is due to the fact that they are contracted by insurance companies. I would give zero stars if I could. read more

The Police towed my car 10 hours after Ely's towing promised to pick it up. They said it will be a 2 hr wait, so I called after 2 hours and after 3 hours and after 4 hours. They hung up on me and called me a derogatory name at 11pm when I asked when will the car be picked up and they said within the hour. 8:30 the next morning they asked me where the car was and I later found out that OPD impounded the car. They refused to refund me the impound price of $185 since it was my fault for leaving in the street over night and hung up on me. read more

insurance connected me with Ely's. Ely's confirmed pick between 90-120 minutes. after 120 minutes of waiting, I starting trying to contact the company. since 345pm I have attempted over 30 phone calls to both numbers on their website. I have also emailed and texted them and messaged them on their facebook page. it is now almost 5 hours after the initial confirmation from Ely's and they have not contacted me or picked up our tow. read more

Can't do a fucking thing right. Drivers don't know how to use their equipment, and I mean none of it. Not even a clock! Although this may be due to the fact that ownership probably just does not really give a fuck. They obviously hire any idiot that can fog a fucking mirror. What can I say except it might be time to open up the wallet and get someone that got past the 7th grade. And I hope you read this and yuck it up brother cause I'm the guy that is gonna start calling for tows and not being there. Maybe that will wake your dim dull ass up? Probably not, but I'll feel better. The only fucking thing keeping me from giving you zero stars is that Yelp is just like you. Absolutely satisfied with this company's customer service. If you're lucky, you'll have Derrick as your driver. Not only was he genuinely concerned with my situation and arrived earlIer than the estimated arrival, but also he is such a down-to-earth person and will make your sucky situation of getting towed to a positive one. This was the company my roadside assistance provider called when I needed a jump start on my car, and even though I had to wait about an hour longer than what the original ETA was, it was worth it. The gentleman who showed up (no tow truck, looked like it might've been his own vehicle) took literally 3 minutes and was super polite and friendly. He even offered suggestions to help me keep my car going in the extreme cold weather. I will definitely look to them first if I ever need other assistance. read more

If I had know of these reviews when my insurance company had gone to this company I would have told them to use another company. If I could give a negative 5 stars I would. My car broke down at 1230 at night. It was overheating and blowing cold air. I was told ely's towing could pick up my car up at 8 am, and was asked to stay with my car. It was 10 degrees outl and windy. Luckily a friend was able to come and get me, because if not i could have frozen to death. Because the pick up time got changed from 8 am to 9 am then to 1048 am. At 1120 am I called and was told they hadn't picked up my car yet, but they would be picking it up at 125 pm. At 230pm they still hadn't showed up so I called again and was told they were 25 min away from the house. At 330 they still hadn't arrived so I call yet another time. This time i was told they still hadn't picked the car up and they swore they were 20 min away from picking it up. It is now 430 and they are still now here. If they had shown up at any of the first few stated times the thermostat could have been changed out and I could have made it to work on time. Instead I ended up having to call in and miss a full day of work. And now when I do finally get my car back I'm going to have to change out the thermostat and it's getting dark and colder. Or miss another day of work. It is already 32 degrees but feels like 25 degrees and the sun hasn't finished going down yet. At 443 they finally dropped off my car, and wasn't even gonna come up to the door and say anything. The driver was gonna just drop the car off and leave the keys inside the car and leave. I asked for an invoice and they didn't have one. read more

Never, Never use Ely's towing if you your vehicle picked up in a timely manner. My roadside assistance has sent them to me twice. In 2012 they were a little over an hour late. Yesterday they were over 2.5 hours late. It took them longer than 3 hours to get to my vehicle. I called them as soon as they were assigned by roadside assistance to make sure they had the location. They still send the tow truck to the wrong place and blamed it on getting the wrong address from roadside assistance. Here is the best part. After more than 2 hours I talked to the dispatch who said the tow truck would be there within 10 min. 25 minutes later I called again and was told the tow truck had my vehicle and was on the way to the shop. I was in the truck at the time so this was a complete surprise to me. They are willing to lie to for the fare. So they get the vehicle and take it to the shop (now over 4 hours after the first call) to find it closed and ask me what to do with the vehicle. I would think they would have a standard procedure for this. I could go on but I think you get the point. NEVER, NEVER use this company!! read more

If you call for roadside assistance and get this guy, please ask for someone else. He said he was in the area and it would be 20 minutes tops. 2 hours later I was still waiting. I called him multiple times and he never bothered to call back letting me know how late he was going to be. Once he finally showed up it was nothing but attitude like my car being broken down ruined his day and never bothered to apologize for being late. He is nice as can be during the first call but it turned out to be nothing but lies. If your service is so bad it drives someone to go home and create a yelp account just to share to the world how bad an experience you had with them, then you probably need to work on your social skills. read more

I needed towed and called roadside assistance and they said he would be coming out in about 45 mins. I waited about an hour and then called roadside assistance back. He told them he was a few blocks away. 30 minutes later, I called him back directly and he doesn't answer. I tried his ph# again 15 mins later and still no answer. I call roadside assistance back and he has no problem answering the phone for them and says he must have went to the wrong place. Another hour later and numerous unanswered calls, I called and demanded roadside assistance give me someone else who did show up in 15 minutes. Funny thing was going by Mcdonalds I remember seeing a truck that looked pretty much like the one in the photo below. I guess he must have had a big mac attack and that was the reason he was a no-show. read more

I had to pick my son up because his car broke down and this guy decided to be a no show. He is obviously screening calls because he only seems to answer calls from the insurance companies to try and keep them happy. I checked his BBB page too and he won't even call them back to dispute any claims because they are probably true and he doesn't care enough to even dispute them. I'm not sure what kind of deal he has with insurance companies, but it sounds like he gets paid for just accepting the calls regardless of if he shows up or not. I do care though so I'm making it a point to tell all my friends to call there insurance companies and get him taken off there lists. Guys like this don't need to be in business. read more

Used Ely's through AAA. Had a flat tire on my car at about the Greenwood exchange on I-80 in October at 4 am. Called AAA and was told Ely's would be there in 90 minutes or less. 4 HOURS later Ely's shows up, not only did I have to pay for tow to my house ($119) but I missed my flight out of OMA and 1 other flight after that. Airline was sympathetic to my plight on first rebooking but when I missed the second flight I was charged $225 for the rebooking. Waiting 4 Hours at 4:30 am is rediculous, I might understand if it was rush hour or something. They kept changing their arrival time with AAA. If AAA calls them for you, do yourself a favor and find your own tow company. read more

Don't use Ely's Towing. My roadside service contacted them to tow my vehicle from a residential neighborhood in West Omaha to the car dealership. During transport the vehicle sustained body damage due to the negligence of the driver. Ely's would not take responsibility for the damaged and now I must file an insurance claim and loose my deductible. Calls to the owner to resolve the issue went unanswered. Think about it. Would you want to do business with someone who will not stand behind their claim of "take pride in our work and care about you and your vehicle."? read more

AAA called them as the tow company at 1:30p Estimated time of arrival was 1:45-2:30p It's now 4:15p and I'm still waiting. AAA called me to double check they'd arrived---I reported they hadn't and after a couple phone calls I received a new estimate of "by 4:30". We shall see. read more
