On 6/28/19, Left Lane Recovery replaced a mass air flow sensor and power steering rack on my vehicle for me. These parts were purchased from AutoZone and had a 2 year warranty and lifetime warranty respectively.
On 12/3/19, I texted Rick, the owner, that my vehicle was in the shop and that I was advised the steering rack was badly leaking and the mass air flow sensor was bad. I asked if he was still working on cars, and if so when they could take a look at it. Rick replied, "We are no longer working on cars and are autozone account has been closed so no way to warranty those parts. I will check with the manager at autozone and see." I texted to let me know how I could help. Later the same day, I asked Rick is there was any way I could get refunded the parts only price I had paid Left Lane Recovery since they had to be replaced already. Rick replied, "U can take those parts back to autozone yourself and get a refund or store credit." When I asked if that was what the manager said, he replied "Autozone return policy..." and included the Autozone location and manager's name. I texted him back after I spoke with the AutoZone Manager about the parts order under his phone number. After Rick provided me with his account number I called AutoZone and was forwarded to another associate. This associate informed me that the account was closed and the only way for me to get reimbursed was from Left Lane Recovery. He said I should get reimbursed for not only the parts but the labor I was charged since I now had to pay another shop for the same repair.
On 12/4/19 I again requested a parts only refund from Rick, Left Lane Recovery. Rick replied, "Im very busy with towing today I will be in touch I need to sort this out." I texted him, thanks, "I'm trying to get this taken care of asap due to the current repairs and costs..my vehicle was in the shop now."
On 12/6/19, I texted him, I need to know how I can be compensated for the parts so I can get the repairs done, that my current mechanic said AutoZone would reimburse him for the defective parts, that I need my vehicle back, and to be fair. I stopped by a local AutoZone and was able to get a receipt printed showing the purchase by Left Lane Recovery for the parts bought and installed on my vehicle dated, 6/28/19. I also texted Rick I was informed at AutoZone, there was no way for me to return parts and get credit. Rick replied stating he was forwarding all the information I had provided him to his compliance officer to sort out. My requests for his compliance officer contact information went unanswered. I again requested to be reimbursed. He stated that the information was forwarded to his compliance officer, and "it's not all gonna happen in one day we need to sort through this and find a good solution." I explained to him if my current mechanic returned the defective steering rack for a core return, I wouldn't be able to get it to them for an AutoZone credit. I also explained to Rick, that every mechanic and parts store employee I spoke to, told me it's not my job to figure this out, and just to have the owner of Left Lane Recovery pay me and be done with it. I requested a refund for the price I paid in parts.
On 12/9/19, I texted Rick the amount I paid to have the new steering rack and mass air flow sensor replaced and requested I be reimbursed the parts price I originally paid him (which was much lower than what I currently paid).
After 6 days no help, and after Rick knew my vehicle was in a repair shop getting fixed, he texted me he could do the work and won't charge me because the parts will be under warranty. He continued to explain by me using a different repair shop voids the parts warranty I had through them. He then lied and said he told me to wait while he got it all figured out. I texted Rick that he told me he wasn't working on cars on 12/3/19, that he never once told me to wait, and that I had scheduled repairs to get my vehicle back. read more
