This is a perfect example of a predatory business model. They have a schedule of all of the large events going on downtown and just wait until it starts. They towed a couple parked next to me who paid for parking, but accidentally left the paper slip on their dash upside down. They then forced them to pay all towing and storage fees because its the "responsibility of the owner". These people are scammers. read more

I had a medical emergency and was rushed to the hospital for a 14 day stay. They towed my car to the impound lot and caused massive damage to my rear bumper, so I called them to complain. I was told that I must file a lawsuit in small claims court. Then, I was told that I need a before picture proving that the bumper was not already damaged. This company is unprofessional and does not seem to care about service or doing the right thing. I can not recommend this towing company to anyone. read more

Tow Pros is also operating as Heartland Towing. Same owner, Joe Livingston, drives the Tow Pros truck with an INACTIVE US DOT NUMBER. When we went through to dispatch over the phone to try and talk to a person & learn more information about the location of my vehicle and why I was towed, the man did not give me his name or the name of the company, but knew a lot about the deal he had made with the business owner who's lot I was towed from. I later learned that's because pressing 4 for dispatch puts you through to Joe himself, despite him pretending he's 'just the tow' and cannot help with or schedule vehicle recovery. He will operate as his own "dispatch" 24/7 because his money maker is predatory towing but only pick up the phone as Joe/arrange vehicle recovery with members of the public between extremely limited "business hours" of 10am-3pm Monday-Friday. I was towed from Supermercado on Vinton St. after their business owner recently decided to enforce tows. I was unaware of this change. I have been parking there at least once a month for a year for a few hours at a time participating in the block's business event, Friday 2 on Vinton St., where neighboring businesses host art gallery walks and music shows through the night. While participating in these events, I've often also been a customer to Supermercado, happily using the grocery store to purchase drinks and food for the galleries or myself. I was unaware that the recently put up blue light camera was to monitor the lot enforce towing. A single sign had been put up to notify the public of tows, which I only found after looking for it upon finding my car gone off the lot. We showed up to Supermercado to discuss our options with the business owner and to notify him that the towing company he has chosen to do business with has a terrible reputation online. I admitted I wanted to meet Joe myself before officially passing judgment, but explained what I had read here on Yelp: that he suspiciously will only take cash, despite operating a business who incurs expensive and unexpected fees on the public - that he is known to be rude and unfriendly, according to anecdotes, and has no official website detailing a location of the tow lot nor has provided the location of our vehicles. The owner of Supermercado "called in a favor" and arranged with Joe for us to get our cars that same day, Saturday, instead of wait until Monday at 10am which would prevent us being able to get to work through the weekend and at a normal time Monday... and told us that calling their number and going to dispatch will put us through to Joe. Once I called Joe, he was abrasive and impolite over the phone from the bat, explaining that we were lucky he's going to come in on a day he doesn't work and that we should be grateful he's going to allow us to recover our cars. He told us the fee is $202.35 cash only. I questioned if there was no way he could take a credit card at all, and he said, "It's not that I CAN'T. I CAN take cards, I WILL NOT take cards, because people like to use their cards and dispute the transaction and screw me over, so NO, I WILL NOT take it. Cash." Joe also, as people report, led me on a silly goose chase to get to his tow lot on 6601 C St. I already had the address thanks to Yelp reviews, and had scoped it out prior to know its location and see whether my car was being safely stored (it was behind a locked gate with a camera outside the lot. Some cars, which looked abandoned, were outside of the gate, however.) Instead of arranging a specific time and location to meet at the tow lot, he said he was already on the way to the lot and to meet him, with our cash, on 72nd and Grover. We knew his lot wasn't exactly there, but this was a nearby and popular intersection with a Casey's. Joe - why don't you just give out the exact street address of your tow lot? Are you operating improper business? We have to go on site anyway to get our cars and can remember what street we're on. We can use landmarks to look it up on a map. After we parked at the Casey's on 72nd and Grover, there was no sign of Joe. We called him and said we were in a public place at the intersection he asked to meet at. He then told us to "go under the bridge by the interstate," directions which sound suspicious as anything, but do lead into his tow lot. This entire time, he did not name himself, his company, or provide the real address of the lot. When we paid in cash, we had $420 fresh from an ATM to recover two cars. We did not break down change assuming that someone who deals in cash ONLY for his business would keep change around in his company vehicle or have brought cash along to an organized vehicle recovery. He asked us if we had $4 Instead of one of our 20s. We said no. He said he didn't have change, then, "sorry." I questioned, "You don't carry cash despite only ever dealing with customers in cash only?" To which he spat back the third reminder that he wasn't supposed to work that day. read more

parked and paid for towing at a "public" private parking lot at 15th and Harney street in omaha , NE. We went to a comedy show 2 blocks away and was gone from the vehicle for 65 minutes total. when we returned the car had been towed and the tow truck driver said he was on his 3rd tow from that parking lot. same story as others on this thread. we were on a family vacation and stranded. due to this predatory towing we have no plans to ever return to Omaha. I also tracked the parking lot to First management leasing and the managers name was Beth. she hung up on me when I said they needed to take down there "public parking" signs as it didn't operate that way. This was one of my worst travel experiences ever! When issued a receipt it was from Heartland Towing and he would only accept cash. There are so many more details very similar to the other reviews. Predatory business, as stated in previous reviews. Impound lot is only "open" from 10-3 even though you are calling the owner, each and every time you call. This is so people working normal business hours cannot get their vehicles and more day charges can be incurred. Business does not give any information outside of 10-3 hours such as, where can I get my vehicle, how much will it cost me, etc. Signage used by the business to provide parking requirements are unclear and misleading. was sitting and waiting to tow cars in this parking lot where there was no visible private parking sign, then continued to tow our car and after we had called to try and get the car back before the morning because we had been there for a volleyball tournament they did not tell us where our car was being taken to and continued to be rude and say that we were unable to get out car back till monday ( our car was towed on Friday) but not only did we need the volleyball uniforms and shoes ext. They say fast and friendly service, however they are anything but fast and friendly. My car was towed on a Friday night around midnight from a church. Which means they were patrolling the area late at night looking for cars to tow. Which is called predatory towing. I went to a show at the waiting room and parked with at least 10 other people in the lot. When we came back all the cars were gone. When I called they were nothing short of vulgar. When I asked when I could get my car back they told me I could not get it until Monday. I called them the next day when I realized my friend had left their house keys in my car and could not enter their house. Along with the keys were my work clothes. I asked if i could at least come get them and was told in the most condescending tone I have ever heard, "What makes you think you can get your stuff when you can't even take your car home." When I asked how much it would cost he said he didn't know. Monday comes and they charge me $217. I was charged for involuntary storage because they were not open over the weekend. Extremely unprofessional, to the point where my husband and I had to contact the police. Owner towed my vehicle on a Saturday for unclear signage and would not release until Monday, despite my offering to pay him for the tow same day. We had groceries in the truck, and he would allow us to get it. He would not give us his name and any other business information-- red flag. Charged me for two days of involuntary storage fees, and he only accepted cash. Owner claimed that he does not work over the weekend, yet still had time to tow my truck on a Saturday. I had the police accompany us to pick up my vehicle as he would not tell me the address of the compound. He gave me turn-by-turn directions over the phone-- it was like something out of Liam Neeson movie. Both my husband and I had to miss half a day of work on a Monday for this. Then he lies and tells us that he was open until noon on Sunday. Wait-- I thought the impound doesn't open until Monday and that's why he couldn't release our vehicle sooner? After some digging, I contacted the Secretary of State and found out that Tow Pros is not in good standing and has been administratively dissolved for failure to report and pay taxes. Why is he still doing business? I also found out that Livingston went to court in 2017 for doing something similar to a woman and lost. He keeps doing it because no one bothers to sue him. Unfortunately, Nebraska law protects companies that work in the gray area of the law like Tow Pros. Small claims court will only help you get your money back, not punish anyone for wrongdoing. Paying one person back out of the dozens and hundreds of people he's cheated over the years is little loss to him. He can just go back to doing what he wants. My suggestion is to stay vigilante. Do some research on this guy. If you see a lot that is managed by Tow Pros, do not park there and notify the business owner of your knowledge. read more

I needed a tow and didn't take the time to compare rates or read reviews. BIG MISTAKE!!! The guy who answered the phone seemed short and rude, he then proceeds to tell me it'll be $150 CASH or $300 CC. He didn't tell me an ETA or how long I would wait he just said I would be added to the drivers list. The driver finally gets to me and doesn't have change to break the $160 I had (all 20's) he just said "sorry". So I ended up paying $160 to get my vehicle towed less than 4 miles away. And the guy that towed my car didn't give me an invoice, receipt or have me sign anything, I ended up calling the repair shop and asked them to give me a call when it got there as I had no proof of anything. Tow Pros performs predatory towing. Car was parked at apartment residence during the moving process. Car was parked for 20-30 mins in the only open spot. Company towed the car and then insisted on cash to get it back. The person who answered the phone at 8:30p on 6/1/21 identified himself as "Steve" and refused to give the supervisor/owners name or the cost to get the car out of the lot. (BTW - seemed like he made up the name on the spot). I stated my intent to file legal action for predatory practices. The spot did not have hours listed for illegal parking and according to NE law towing without that is illegal. All should beware of this company. Anyone else wronged by them should take legal action as I'm intending to. It is the only way to prevent such predatory practices from companies that operate illegally as this company does. read more

He runs his towing company like an impound lot. He also hangs up on you if you ask to many questions. Does not give a receipt or change. His "business" does not have an actual address but he gives you turn by turn directions by phone from Grover to 66th street which is bull shit. He does absolutely no paper work and shows up in an unmarked car. He basically steals your car and then makes you pay an asinine amount of money to get it back. The single most unprofessional "towing company" I've ever had to deal with. Police were involved in getting our car back and when we did it was damaged. My daughter is driving our car and Joe at Tow Pros towed it. The sign in her apartment is for tow-riffic at 1-531-600-0700. He would not release the car to our daughter who has valid ID. He got angry with my husband over the phone and said how do I know you're not a scammer from Nigeria. I had to drive 5hours (2 1/2 hours each way) to get the car. He won't give a physical address. Makes you drive to Buckyees gas station and call him for directions from there. When I got there, the police were there with another couple, helping them get their vehicle back. I hope to God that you don't ever have to come in contact with this guy(Joe). He towed my vehicle around 11pm Friday night and isn't open Saturday or Sunday. Okay, I can handle 2 days without a vehicle. He opens up at 10am on Monday. I go to the address posted online expecting a tow lot. Nothing. No sign. Nothing. I call him and he then tells me to come to the Buckys at 72nd and Grover. A $10 uber ride later I call him. He tells me I then need to drive the vehicle I don't have to meet him at some sketchy lot around 66th and Grover. Another $6 uber ride I show up to the lot @10:30am with $207 cash. He not only charges me storage for the 1 hour on Friday night but also the 30 minutes I was in his lot on Monday. $217.25. He tells me that I need to go get another $10 to pay him(for whole 30 minutes I was in his lot on Monday). I didn't feel like spending another $12 on Uber's to and from the gas station so I decided to walk the 40 minutes round trip. He was sitting in his truck the whole time and denied me a ride to go get the $10. Money aside, this guy is the epitome of a snake. He has an opportunity to run a decent business and squanders it over a measly $15 or a simple 2 minute drive to a gas station. If you have to deal with this guy and have a bad experience-report him to the business/lot he towed you from. We came here from 7 hrs away for training and our car got towed due to us parking on a "no parking zone". We obviously didn't see the sign just like the 30 other cars that were parked there. When we came out all the cars were towed and one was being towed. The girls offered the guy $100 and the guy took the money and unhooked their car. They will not let us pick up the car over the weekend and we have to wait until Monday at 10:00 am to pick it up. They will not give me access to my car either. When I called, the person was extremely rude to me and would not even tell me how much I was going to be charged on Monday, he said it was all up to his boss. Do they not have steady rates? SKETCHY!!! Avoid this "business" at all costs! Some friends and I drove 5 hours from another state to go to a track in Iowa. We stayed in Council Bluffs and saw a cool arcade place in Omaha we wanted to check out. We parked in a half empty lot and went to the digital meter to pay. We went through the options and then the screen turned red and wouldn't let us do anything else. We figured it was one of those deals where you don't pay on weekends or after a certain time (we were there around 10:30 p.m.). We came back maybe 45 minutes later and our truck was gone. We called the tow number listed and the owner lied and said he was "dispatch" and that we would have to call again at 10 a.m. on Monday. This was SATURDAY night. We live in another state and needed to be home to our jobs on Monday. We tried asking for any information (the company name, another person we could contact, where the truck was even towed to) and this guy just got furious and wouldn't give us any info. Our vehicle was never registered with the Omaha police impound so we couldn't search the vin number to see if it was even towed. We had to run up to a guy towing another vehicle just to ask him what the "company" was called.... he came back to tow another vehicle and confirmed he saw our truck there. That is the only way we knew our truck was towed by this "company". One friend had medication in the vehicle and the owner wouldn't even allow us to come get it. He said "too bad, call 911". We even offered to pay extra if he would just let us come pick up the vehicle on Sunday morning. We called again on Sunday just to see if there was any way we could come get the truck that morning and what documentation we need and I could hear this dude screaming at my boyfriend through the phone saying we have to wait. Then when we did go to pick up the vehicle on Monday (we had to find the address from previous reviews because the one listed is not correct and he wanted us to go to a gas station and follow his directions) we ended up in an extremely sketchy and dirty place. Cars are jam packed in to the lot. Charged us $200 and didn't give us a receipt. So we probably got charged for two nights of storage even though he legally cannot do this since he claims he isn't open over the weekend. He plead guilty to this same thing back in 2017 and was charged a measly $300 fine.... it isn't worth it to fight it since he will just get another slap on the wrist and none of us ever want to encounter this human again. Tow Pro to the rescue! After a horrible experience with another company, the Tow Pro guys came to the rescue. Even though the wind chill was below zero we got service with a smile. They did a great job of calling ahead multiple times before their arrival to keep us updated on their arrival time. Great service, would definitely recommend them. read more

I had a great experience with Tow Pros. My friend got rear ended by a car going 40+ miles per hour at a red light, and my car was not driveable back to Lincoln (I was being picked up at the Omaha airport). Joe went out of his way to make sure we had a ride back and did so promptly. I highly recommend this towing group - they know what they are doing and Joe provided great advice on what to do next. My Sister-in-Law had her car towed, after a breakdown, from a lot off 114 Dodge St. This occurred on a Monday, as I went to get the car myself, it was gone and later found out it had been towed and was sitting on 2 days of added storage fees (150 tow, 25 admin fee, 15/day storage & taxes???). A call to Joe, the owner, was made Tuesday to pick up the car Thursday, but later we decided to pick up on Friday. Joe agreed. Friday morn around 910am, I called joe to pay & pick up the car only to hear we had to wait until Monday because he is out of town on an emergency if some sort. I clarified he would MOT be charging my sister-in-law any additional weekend storage fees and waited for Monday. Monday! Contacted joe at approx 920a for him to tell me to wait until 10a, but go to 72 Grover and await instructions to his Tow Yard! I took it upon myself to locate his Yard and called from that location 11 times with NO response!!! Left, went to Starbucks for some coffee, called again and he answered, finally. Went to the yard again and waited 20min for him to show up with Apologies! Based upon his advertisement about friendly, professional business & service, I would say Completely Misleading!!! This so called Business owner is a FRAUD and a SNAKE. DONT EVER do business with this man. My car was stolen from my apartment on 1/31/2020 it was towed from MP Mart on 2/3/2020, he did not report it to the authorities until 2/5/2020 which is ILLEGAL. He then proceeds to charge a storage fee for Saturday and Sunday even though he is not "operating" which he is out 24/7. His "lot" has no address, its under the highway around 66th and C street. I asked him to show me an itemized receipt before the payment so I could see what he was charging me for and he refused until he received payment. The police had to be involved and they said they have known about him and his SHADY business for about 10 years. He knows that people will take him to small claims court and just tells you to do it anyway because he doesn't get punished my them. JOE LIVINGSTON is a SHADY SNAKE and does not deserve to be operating. His tow truck doesn't even have license plates on it. His personal vehicle doesn't have license plates either with no in transit forms. He refused to give me his full name, just "Joe", if you are a business owner you must provide this type of information to people. I ended up paying $300 for a car that cost me $1000. They are in the rip off business. Making money on setting up small and inconspicuous signage, towing people to a yard they won't give you the address to and over charging for towing. Customer service is horrible. If you call more than one time they block your number. But you need to be able to call them to reach the yard because they say get to 72nd and Grover and then call again. I had to borrow a friends phone that wasn't blocked to get through once I got to the mysterious corner of 72nd and Grover. They have all these protectors for themselves in place because they have to deal with mad people all the time because they know they are ripping them off. Sick and tired of people making a profit from inconvenience. I will never use a tow company if I ever need one that engages in this rip off business. $232 dollars and my car in a yard for the weekend with all my work materials in the back because I parked in some lady's spot for 20 minutes not knowing it was an assigned spot. I wish I could give a lower score. They contract out for towing for businesses that do not want parking on their space. This company charged 247.25 dollars to get a vehicle back. Now mind they towed on a Friday night. They are not open on the weekend and charged 4 days when picked up on Monday. They only take cash, which was not told on the phone, yet if you want a tow for a broken down incident, they accept Visa, Master Charge and Discover and of course your insurance. (wonder how much they try to screw them over) Amazing how that works. When asked how can they charge per day when you can not get your vehicle, the response was it is dangerous to be here at night. How about Saturday during the day? Response was, we keep the same hours as the city. Also said we are private and can do what we want. Hummm, do you want to try to back yourself up by using the city as an outline for your business or one as a private business? I estimated this company made 14,000.00 in a weekend, and in cash.
