(Typically you are only paid a small fraction of what the company pays the agency, so I was open to the idea of a lower pay during the temp. process, since the staff assured me (correctly) their actual hiring salary was in my range...). (TLDR: BOE overcharged hidden fees for three years, were rude to us, and publicly email-shamed my wife) Boise Office Equipment sold our business a flat-fee contract. The initial sale was very "car salesman-y, back-slappy" and moved fast, but they got the transaction done and we needed the machine we purchased. We complained and asked for a new rep after the first purchase, and they switched us to someone new for ongoing interactions. After two years, we moved out of state and they told us that they couldn't service us direct any more, but that we should call Xerox direct for service. We asked if there was a price difference and were told no. This worked fine for awhile: Xerox serviced us direct and BOE collected our money. Then one day we needed help with a remote software set up, and called BOE for this because Xerox has a hard time with remote service. Diane, the service person at BOE, was rude to us, saying they wouldn't help us because we had been serviced "behind their backs" by Xerox, and suggested we had paid Xerox under the table extra to do so (?). We replied that we would be foolish to pay two companies for one service, and that we were only following BOE instructions. She doubled down, saying "they didn't have record of our unauthorized move" (??). After being a client five years, we were so incredulous that we asked to cancel and speak to a manager; at which point she clumsily backpedaled and attempted a ham-handed apology before handing us off. We inquired about pricing and discovered that (1) they were charging more than we would have paid to Xerox direct and (2) they had raised our prices per click/print in each of the last three years; not such a flat fee after all. They needed our cancel notice in writing; so we emailed the manager to do so. Two lines: please cancel our account, we were disappointed in the service and pricing deception. The response? The manager replied to our cancel notice, to my wife, and copied two more people, to publicly shame her for being abrupt with Diane and state that they didn't tolerate customers who were curt with their service staff (?). He was recommended to us by a family member and we are so glad we found him! When we came to Jared he had to go through and modify my husband's taxes from prior years. My husband was audited by the IRS and Jared was right by his side the entire time (including and entire day of questioning in a downtown Boise office). He saved us thousands of dollars and my husband probably would have died of anxiety without them. Jared is VERY thorough and VERY knowledgeable! I believe there has only been one question I've asked that he didn't have the answer to. Before I left the parking lot he came out and handed me a stack of information regarding the answer to my question. The short story: This firm does not have time for new clients. They don't seem to care about…read moreclients or customer service. Don't waste your time here. Here's the story of my interactions. December 2024 I reached out because my business was growing rapidly and I wanted a professional to help our tax strategy and our financial planning to grow with it. They scheduled me for an in person meeting with Dean as the first step. About 5min into the meeting as I was discussing what my hope was for my future with them, Dean interrupted me and said something to the effect of, "Just so you know, I haven't decided to accept you as a client yet. We are very busy and we may not want to take on your business unless it makes sense for us." My thought was, why did we have to have an in person meeting just for you to tell me you didn't want my business... This could have been a phone call taking less time out of my busy day! It was obvious I was interviewing for the opportunity to pay for their services. We continued on and I told him more about our business and the revenue growth we were experiencing every month. After a while my only guess is he could tell that we were the type of company they could make money off of so he changed his tune. Suddenly I was in and we were discussing all the strategies he could employ for us. At the end of the meeting he said they would send me an introductory email with some instructions on becoming a new client and a link to a portal to upload all my 2022 and 2023 tax returns. Then they would evaluate everything and tell me what they would need in order to start processing my 2024 return and some entity reporting changes for 2025. Weeks went by with nothing sent to me. I tried to be patient because I figured the holidays might have slowed them down. I knew they had my email because they were sending me emails about their new office and having a ribbon cutting ceremony party. Finally in late January I sent another email letting them know I still hadn't receive my welcome email or the portal invitation. They replied this time... No apology for the delay.. They just said, we do have you in our portal but they hadn't invited me yet. They said they would invite me but we're letting me know that I was now a little late and they were getting busy and I should hurry and send in my 2022 and 2023 tax returns. (great, so now I'm to blame for being late) Sadie said in the email, after I uploaded my returns, they would evaluate them and then "send you a tax organizer, so you know what documents to bring for 2024". So I logged into the portal immediately after our phone call and uploaded my '22 and '23 returns. Weeks went by and nothing from them. Finally it was getting too close for comfort for me with the impending tax deadline and it didn't seem like they valued my business or had time for me. I ended up processing my tax return without them. I've never heard a single thing from them until June 4th 2025 (today) when I received a call from them (I think Sadie again). She said she just wanted to check in because they were still waiting for my paperwork to process my 2024 return and she wanted to know if I still wanted to be a client. At this point I have been so upset with how little they care about prospective customers. I told her I did upload my returns to the portal as she requested in February and no I couldn't see us doing business together because I don't think they value me or my time because they never sent me anything after that. Her response was indifference and she seemed happy I didn't want to be a client. She said, "Ok good that's what I was wanting to know. We did receive your 2022 and 2023 returns but you never sent us anything to process your 2024 return." (basically once again I was to blame) I started to tell her she said that they would evaluate my returns and send me the information and format they wanted for my 2024 return but they never did (what she called the tax organizer in her email in February), after I said that I realized I was about to lose it, lol. So I just hung up. There's no point in explaining that to her and going back and forth when they just keep putting blame on me. They don't care. The reality is they've taken on more than they can handle. They should have just told me in that first meeting they were too busy with existing clients to take on new clients. Seriously, it's June 4th 2025! And now you're finally reaching out about getting my 2024 taxes done?!? I don't want a CPA I have to babysit. So, I'm still on the hunt for a good CPA who cares about me, my company and my family.
