Dr. Rivers is an excellent dentist. She replaced a filling for me and I did not feeling any pain,…read morenot even when she did the anesthesia injection. She paused and allowed me to rest my jaw during the treatment and was continually asking if I was doing ok. I have a dental back ground and the dentist that did the filling the first time, just 3 months earlier, left a space between the teeth which packed with food every time I ate. I asked my sister to go see Dr. Rivers before she did what another dentist recommended, which was to have one of her teeth extracted. Dr. Rivers made a crown and put the finished crown in her mouth the same day.

I'm due to finish my treatment in October and I just called to see if I could get them temporarily removed for important photos I was having done and even though the doctor was out of office this week, they stayed on the phone with me and helped me figure out other options and were SO friendly about it. Well, I listened to my wife (which you should always do anyway) and Dr. K has been absolutely fantastic beyond words! She is always very patient, asks questions, and is truly concerned for my well being. I'm now in my 40s and my teeth and gums are sensitive but she has found ways to make them better and not just by redoing fillings but by other non-invasive solutions. I hate going to the dentist because I have a track record of suffering through several cavities since I was a kid but she really has made it a much better experience overall. I should also mention her staff are very friendly and my cleanings go well every time. We have been so pleased with her that we started taking our two boys here as well. They used to go to Brazos Valley Pediatric Dentistry which has some great dentists there but others not so great, so it was hit or miss. Smiles n' More is consistently the best dentistry in town, no question!

If you are reading this I assure you that you will not be disappointed. You'll probably wonder why you took so long to find a great dentist like Dr. Slater. Run, don't walk from this practice!!!!! Dr Newman saw my daughter for a decaying molar she has. My…read morekids previously lived with their father for a time and he didn't take care of their dental needs while they were in his care and now I am dealing with the aftermath of that. Dr. Newman recommended a root canal and a crown for my daughters permanent molar. I explained to Dr. Newman that I didn't have the money to put into a root canal and a crown for her tooth. We do not have health insurance. I agreed to go see an endodontist to see how much it was going to be for a root canal. Dr Newman assured me that if I saw the endodontist that he recommended and that if I still decided I wanted to have the tooth pulled that he would pull it for her. I went to see the endodontist only to be told that it would be over $2,000 out of pocket to have just the root canal done not including the crown that Dr. Newman would have to put on. It cost me $250 out of pocket just to be told something I already knew, that we couldn't afford to save the tooth. I called Dr. Newman's office a few days afterwards to schedule the extraction as by this time my 11yr old daughter was in pain from the decaying tooth. A few days before our scheduled appointment I got a call from the office asking if I still wanted to get the tooth pulled. I told them I did, as my daughter is in pain and needs it pulled. The day before her appointment I received another call from the office asking the same question. At this point I got a little frustrated because I had let them know already that yes she needs the tooth pulled as she is in pain. I explained to them that I agree that saving her tooth would be the best course of action as it is an adult molar, but I simply can't afford it and she is hurting. Then about an hour later I received another call from the office stating that Dr. Newman will not pull the tooth tomorrow at her scheduled appointment, as he doesn't think it is the best course of action for my daughter. The day before her appointment to have it pulled they call and tell me this! After spending hundreds of dollars out of pocket to see another doctor and getting the run around. Losing valuable time that I could have been looking for someone to take care of it for her. I'm sorry but this office is a joke. Had Dr. Newman let me know at our first appointment that he didn't want to pull the tooth and he would not perform the extraction, I could have been searching for another doctor to pull her tooth. Now my daughter is in pain with no relief in sight. What happened to compassion and understanding in todays doctors? What is a low income family with no insurance supposed to do when their child is in pain and needs a tooth pulled and they can't afford to save a tooth? I spent hundreds of dollars out of pocket just to get the run around from this doctor, who honestly made me feel less than, just because I can't afford to save her adult tooth. Doctors like this shouldn't be allowed to practice. They wanted to refer me to an oral surgeon and I declined. I know how expensive oral surgeons are and I wouldn't go to anyone this doctor recommends. I have 5 children and none of them will be going back to College Station Dental. Dr. Newman you should be ashamed of yourself for allowing a little girl to suffer needlessly. Do yourself a favor and don't send your kids here. Dr. Melton was very pleasant and had a nice bed/chair-side manner. The new patient registration and billing process were both straightforward, understandable, and reasonable.
