Referred to A&E by GP. Following a bad fall with a knock to…read morethe head that knocked me out. I was advised I needed a CT scan and Xray. 14 hours in A&E. Saw a triage nurse within 15 minutes. No follow up care since. No query as to my symptoms worsening or improving. Hospital Nurses and Dr amazing but the emergency department is no longer fit for purpose. Its too small, over crowded and cramped. People on trolleys packed in like sardines. Dr and nurses constantly shuffling trolleys jus to make contact and get to side of a patient to examine them. People in A&E tying up beds in A&E because they cant be admitted to wards, during the night. Knock on effect. A&E staff have no space to work with patients out in waiting rooms Also think the computer system is inadequate and outdated. Im witnessing to many Dr spending far too much time sitting at computers instead of carrying out primary care function. Whichvis seeing and evaluating patients. Bring a sleeping bag, pillow, phone charger, food and water with you. So you can lie down on floor while you wait. It will be more vomfotable than chairs provided and some seating is outdoors in a tent that was temporarily erected to deal with covid but is now in everyday use.

You know the story. You leave the club with your friend after a great night of dancing and…read moreflirting. You walk home full of laughs when suddenly you pause and turn to each other and say: "Is that a naked man running?" And viola you are lying on the ground and when I came to my friend was passed out with a bloody mouth on the street. Thankfully some good Samaritans took control of the situation. The ambulance man was fantastic and so where the nurses and doctors as they got a great kick out of the fact that a naked man ran us over. The receptionist was awful, extremely rude, unpleasant woman that got an attitude with my dazed friend because she had the temerity to spell her last name for her: "I can spell you know!" Of course I lost it with her and told her to learn some manners. A fascinating insight into the Irish psyche as the place was populated with mainly drink related incidents. Something very socially vacant about that. I wonder will Diageo pick up the bill? My friend is grand yet my ass has a huge bruise on it which makes sitting rather annoying. Myself and other People needing urgent care left sitting there for hours on end falling asleep on the seats. Junkies using drugs in the toilets you could get the horrible smell of it in the waiting room. Came in suicidal etc they gave me prescription for useless depressant tablets and told me to get on with it, refused to diagnose anything, Sadly I won't come back here the level care for suicidality and obvious mental health issues is incompetent and useless. The staff can see people sooner there often sitting in the office doing nothing anyways. The mental health services in this country are so bad, been in hospitals all over dublin and even discharged either given a prescription or or help lines sheet and thats it thanks to fine fall and finnana gael ruining the country, All in all very disappointing, clearly government is at fault. Won't set foot in here again the wait times are terrible.

This building is a beauty to look at it, an excellent example of Victorian architecture in the…read morecity. It's striking red brick facade and high spires make it the most striking landmark on Upper Baggot street. It was built in 1832 and part of it's history involved treating wounded soldiers from the first World War. Nowadays it offers services for mental health, physiotherapy and addiction treatment. Well worth the 15-20min walk from the top of Grafton street. It overlooks a gaggle of coffee shops, so you can enjoy a drink and admire the building. The canal is a stones throw away so afterwards you could take a potter down there.

As a Dubliner you can be inclined not to mention buildings like this despite walking past them everyday. And then, when I walked over to it, I realized it isn't that at all. It's actually a hospital. It's really impressive in size. And it's so pretty! Back home, hospitals don't look like this at all. So, as the Nissan Micra left fire along Rathmines road (in a similar manner to that car from 'Back to the future') mom and dad talked in a casual, devil may care sort of way while doing anatomically improbable things to do with bricks. 7 million hours later we arrive in Crumlin Children's hospital where the queue is mercifully short and after a little admin and short wait we are seen by a gaggle of nurses and doctors - all of which are wonderful and helpful and all of whom have come to the same conclusion. It's not Meningitis, he'll be fine. We were lucky on a few counts here, I have heard stories of parents waiting for hours and hours to be seen - it's just the luck of the draw but once you get your child seen to the staff are great - really great, cant say enough good about them. 5 Stars
