My parents came here when they were first dating. The tradition has passed onto me. I love coming here with family and friends. There's really nothing like it. They play one movie a week, $6 to get in (cash only) and serve pizza, hamburgers, popcorn and so much more. You can't beat the prices and can't be compared with the over-priced Blackstone Valley 14. Get there early because seats fill up fast. It's a little hole in the wall near the center of Millbury. The Elm Draught has been renovated slowly throughout the years, yet has still been able to keep its charm and authenticity. Can't say that about many places nowadays. read more

Delightful. An old amphitheater with character repurposed to do various shows and movie nights. If you can get the old dusty padded seats, do so. Great prices make this a win. $6 for a current movie? Will my ass be asleep by the credits? Yep...but the charm and ability to have a reasonably priced beer, wine, and a pizza overcome the rest. Only suggestion is get a storage locker and clean up below the screen. It looks like someone is preparing to light a bonfire! read more

Went there for the first time last night. Seemed like a good place were locals can meet. The staff really seemed like they wanted to be there and took pride in the place. I really appreciated that. The drink selection had some nice options and my burger was surprisingly great! The seats left a little to be desired but the owner announced that new seats are in the works for this year. A wonderful experience! Old School theatres (and drive-ins) appeal to something in me at a very fundamental level, the concept really tickles me. The following are all positives to me (for the old school feel) but I'll state the facts and you can make your own decisions about whether or not it's for you. They play one movie a week that (most often) was recently in theatres, they have one show a day, two on Friday and Saturday. CASH ONLY! It is $6 a ticket The concessions are also inexpensive eg a large (soda or popcorn) is $3 They serve concessions in line with the vintage theatre feel such as hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza, nachos, pretzels, etc.[FYI the concession stand is immediately to the left when you walk into the theater) THEY SERVE ALCOHOL they have four beers on tap, a selection of wines, and a number of bottled beers (including TWISTED TEAS!!!). You can get a pitcher or carafe. There are tables in between the seats in the middle and in front of the seats on the sides. The seats are auditorium style not stadium There are two employees and the building is a small waiting room and the theater. They have cushions available for the seats, don't try to be tough movies are long and you're going to want one do yourself the favour. They play sporting events on the big screen, most regularly Patriots games - I can only imagine how phenomenal it is watching a game here with the concessions, big screen, and drinks versus at a sports bar (plus free admission) They have comedians come towards the end of the month every two months or so, again I can only imagine the concessions being an enhancement to the experience. This is the type of place where families have been coming for more than a generation and it feels steeped in history and everyone is friendly and having a good time. I highly recommend Elm Draught House and only wish I had gone sooner. PS as they say themselves a great place for a cheap date and if your date is anything like me they'll love this experience much more than a modern theatre read more

An amazing movie theater! They show films a month or so after they come out and therefore only charge $6. The also serve cheap food and beer. They Gene decent craft beer options which is great. I don't know if you guys know how to build a time machine but you do not need one to go here! This theater is from the 1940s and it is a piece of history to appreciate. The one room theater plays movies that just recently left theaters for a fee of five bucks. YOU HEARD RIGHT! On top of that if you are over the legal age of 21 to consume beverages you can buy beer (pitches, cups, bottles!) or wine! On top of all that they have amazing food best prices anywhere form hamburgers, pizza, hotdog, rib sandwich, nachos, I could go on. Also, since it is all one room you can watch the movie and get snack during the movie without missing a thing! This is hands down one of my favorite places in the world. I try and come here as often as I can for the experience and amenities that it has to offer. You honestly can not go wrong to come here alone, on a date or just with friends! This place is fantastic. A very authentic no frills theatre with updated screen and sound..plus they play the Patriots games on the big screen with no entry fee. Pitchers of beer and glasses of wine flow freely and they have Pizza, hot pretzels, hot dogs, etc.. Grab a bite to eat beforehand at A&D across the street... or Calabria down the street for a little more money. Grab drinks after at one of the many "local" dive bars close by, Milltowne Tavern or Belfont hotel. I went to the Elm for the first time last week, it was so cute! It is an old warehouse turned into a movie theater. It only plays one movie a week but you cant beat it if its a movie you want to see. It is only 5 dollars to get in. They have all the snaks you can think of, nachos, popcorn, pizza, ice cream, candy, soda beer and wine all really cheap, and each seat has its own little table in front of it to hold all your snacks. Best part about the draft house: It shows the local sports games like the red sox and the patriots. This is free of charge because one cannot charge money to show a game without written consent. I concur Peter's review the personal pizzas. They are excellent and are worth trying out at least twice. $5 movies in a cool olden days theater where you can get beers by the pitcher and wines by the jar while having burgers, pizzas or some traditional popcorn--what can get better than this? Although there's only one movie showing there each time, I've had good luck with the films. One time it was the transformers II (which I didn't wanna see so I didn't go, but I bet a lot of other woulda liked it). Then there was the hilarious "The Ugly Truth", and I saw that they are having "The Hangover" next... crazy! All the seats have a side table or bar-ish tables (I really don't know what those are called...sorry for the poor description). And they stack up seat pads that you can grab to put on ur seats! how cute :) read more

It's a family friendly activity that is fun for us all. Jim hosts comedy night about once a month. The comedians are nationally known and it is always hilarious. This is a small town, one room theater that plays movies that are just about to go from theater to DVD. The price is only $5 per person. The down side is that you sometimes have to wait weeks for a movie good enough to see. The up side is that it's a wonderful atmosphere inside and could make you believe you're living in the 50's era. They've been serving pizza and pitchers of beer since long before the big multiplexes caught on to the idea. They even have tables so that you can stow your food in a safe way. read more

Chairs are old but comfy. with a table for food & drinks in between every few chairs. Very chill, very relaxed and layed back. They only show one movie at a time. What a really cool place to go see a film! Sure, it is a bit out of the way if you don't live in the area, but the price is right and they serve cheap food and beer/wine. I had been meaning to try Elm when I lived in Mendon for a while but never made it out. I was there visiting the in laws and decided to catch a flick one evening. I have to say that it is one of the most unique theaters I've ever been to. It is one huge theater with seating scattered through out. All of the seats have little tables next to them, so you can keep your beer, soda, and popcorn in a secure spot. Tickets are cheap, at only 5$ a pop, which can make a great alternative to your major theaters. Unfortunately, they only show one film a day, so if there isn't anything you want to see playing, you are kind of screwed for that week. The beer selection includes a decent selection of drafts and bottles, and costs as little as 5$ for a large draft. The popcorn is quite tasty and costs only a few dollars for a large. The staff seemed very nice and attentive at the concession stand. They joked around with me when they had to double check my out of state license (I still find it funny how strict they are in MA about that, even though my license is for RI). I would highly recommend the Elm if you are in the area and need a cheap date night or a place to bring the kids on school break (they play children/family movies during February break). read more

This is a great place in downtown (??) Millbury. They serve beer and wine and drive in type of food. The theater is a little old but the prices make it well worth the trip. The place can be a little loud and often on weekends (depending on the feature) you'll be surrounded by Millbury Mallrats who have been kicked out of Blackstone enough they have to come here--so be prepared to tell someone to shut up. read more

My wife and I went to the Elm Draught House for the first time, and we couldn't believe that movie theaters could still be this cool. The movie memorabilia and posters were incredible, and the size of the theater was impressive. The owner talked to us, and was just so nice and personable. The prices of food are ridiculously low, and has a huge variety of food. I want to see classic movies here but even for regular movies, I want to come here every week. Growing up in Millbury, this theater was a go-to place. Very unique decor and had a homey feeling to it. The tickets and food/drinks are cheap too. No place else can beat the food here. I have shown a lot of friends this place and they always wish they had something similar in their home town. They also show Pats games and other major sporting events (Bruins/Red Sox playoff games). Entry is free and the crowd really gets into it. Saw the Bruins win the 2011 Stanley Cup here and thought the place was going to implode. Haven't been in a few years since I moved to Boston, but I remember the chairs were all starting to fall apart, so after sitting on them for a couple hours, your back/butt start to hurt. Not nearly enough to knock them down a star though. read more

A movie theatre with cheap tickets, food, and beer...and places to put your yummy beer and food (there are little tables in between the seats)--heaven!!! If the simple and low price isn't enough to grab your attention, once you are inside there is very inexpensive food, beer & wine, and popcorn. Two people can catch a movie and eat, even have a beer, for $20. When you go in, it is like a time warp -- the theater is 40s or 50s. And not especially nice -- no stadium seating here. Also, do not decide you do not need the extra seat pad that they have stacked around. The seats seem fine at first, but before long you will find yourself going back for the pad. Best to get it right off. But I love the benches and tables which give every seat a place to put down food and drink, either in front of the seat or beside it. I like the popcorn a lot. So just go, give the guy at the left when you go in $10 for you and your date, find a seat (and put a pad on it), go back to the front and get whatever refreshment you want (you probably won't spend more than another $10), then sit back and enjoy the show. This is by far one of the coolest places to go in Millbury! Whether it's date night or you just need to get out of the house, this place is great time. Not only are tickets $5 each (compared to up to $10 at mainstream cinemas) but boxes of popcorn are $1 for small $2 med and $3 large, AND they serve food (pizza, nachos etc.), beer and wine throughout the show. The owner is a total riot, always remembers a face, and the staff are really sweet. I have never had a bad experience here. They show movies that have already been out but the good thing about this is you're able to see movies you might have missed in the theater. Tons of seating and they provide cushions so you can be comfy throughout the show. They often do kids flicks earlier in the day and have late showings all throughout the week (one at 7/7:30 and one at 9). They do comedy nights and show sports games for no fee, you just pay for concessions. Definitely check this place out if you're in the area. It's a gem!! read more

I always liked this place but when my new husband went for the first time he balked at the film quality and didn't want to come back. Well now they have DIGITAL!!! Yay!
