She is also ALWAYS so warm and fantastic with my 2 kids even when they pester me to visit her office every time we walk past it! She is always willing to put aside time for YOU. If not for the fact that our family is simply getting just too big for the units they offer here, we would probably have continued to stay on. We will truly miss the amazing tenant care and service we have received at Parkside over the last 2 years. We are really going to miss living here. I would HIGHLY recommend this apartment complex to anyone looking for 1 or 2 BR apartments. My experience included…read moreongoing maintenance problems, inconsistent communication, and concerning billing and lease enforcement practices that escalated over time. From move-in, I experienced multiple unresolved maintenance issues including roach sightings in the unit, recurring mold in the bathroom, and persistent electrical issues such as flickering lights and intermittent outages affecting kitchen outlets. These electrical issues were repeatedly reported and marked as "completed," but problems continued over time. In addition, during January 2024, the heating system in my apartment was not functioning properly during extremely cold weather. Despite submitting multiple maintenance requests and having staff come out on more than one occasion, the issue was not effectively resolved at the time. My household had to rely on multiple layers of clothing and heated blankets to tolerate the indoor temperature. I am also including photo documentation showing ice forming on an interior bedroom wall, which reflects the severity of the heating issue during that period. The oven was defective from the beginning of my tenancy (burning/uneven cooking) and remained unresolved despite multiple service requests starting in 2023. It was ultimately replaced only in mid-2025, after repeated complaints and escalation. I also dealt with ongoing noise disturbances from upstairs neighbors (constant running/jumping at all hours) and cigarette smoke entering hallways from neighboring units, which significantly impacted livability. These issues required repeated reporting and were not consistently resolved in a lasting way. A major concern involved billing and lease enforcement practices, particularly related to NSF (non-sufficient funds) payments. When a payment was returned, I was charged both an NSF fee AND a separate late rent fee, and then required to pay exclusively via cashier's check or money order for a set period. In practice, this created a situation where a single banking issue triggered multiple fees and payment restrictions, even after the rent and associated fees were fully paid. This policy was not clearly explained in advance in a transparent way and felt overly restrictive in effect, even after the original issue had been resolved. I also experienced utility billing confusion and inconsistencies, which were difficult to reconcile month to month and lacked clear explanation. Communication with management was often formal but not resolution-driven. Many issues were referenced as "closed" or "resolved" in the system while the actual problems persisted, requiring repeated follow-up to receive any meaningful resolution. While some maintenance actions were eventually completed (including oven replacement and selected repairs), these occurred only after extended delays and multiple escalations. Importantly, the location itself was also a concern due to ongoing safety issues in the surrounding area, including high crime conditions, which impacted my overall sense of security living at the property. On May 29, 2026, I received notice that my lease would not be renewed for the next term. While I was already preparing to move out, the timing followed a period in which I had consistently raised concerns about maintenance issues, billing practices, and communication problems. Overall, my experience was marked by recurring unresolved maintenance issues, inconsistent enforcement of policies, and financial practices that felt overly restrictive toward tenants, along with concerns about safety in the surrounding area.

I cannot thank her enough for all her help answering questions and getting stuff figured out in general. - The entire complex appears to be a super laid back, quite environment that has a foot of concrete in between each floor, so if you have someone above you, you don't need to worry about any noise they might be making, as you will likely not hear it (though I confess that I am currently on level 3, so I cannot vouch for this fact with 100% certainty, but it was something I asked Lauren about because I didn't want anyone to be bothered by me just walking around in my own place, and at my previous apartment complex, I had someone above me and I could hear every foot step they made lol). - My balcony (medium sized, and is made of concrete, and is designed in such a way so that you generally have privacy from your neighbors) currently faces the woods, so it's a perfect view with a super soft and quiet scenery that will only grow more pleasant when the leaves start to grow back over the next couple months as the spring season begins (I didn't really feel comfortable using my balcony at my last apartment complex because the balcony was made of wood instead of concrete, was semi-small, and I was on the second floor facing the parking lot, so everyone could see me as I sat outside on said balcony, and I just didn't really feel at ease using it). - If your apartment is on level 3, you will have raised ceilings. Overall, I have been having a great experience, and am so thankful for Lauren and the Willows of Wheaton's maintenance team who have both been amazing at their crafts. Can't go wrong with this place.

The first time, they gave me a pass for about 10 days and didn't charge me anything so long as I had my rental agreement. Those two that helped me earlier were actually very pleasant so much so that I hooked them both up with free shoes ($300 value). Today, I went to get an extension on that parking pass and they're charging me $5 per day even after explaining the circumstances of my last visit with them. $5 per day for about 10 days?! I'm a good tenant, pay my rent on time and never make a noise and they're going to charge me for parking passes when I already overpay for a "renovated apartment"?! In their defense, the lady that helped me noted it on the worksheet and I had to sign several different passes because each tag was $5 and for 24 hours only?! She didn't even want to hear my situation and just kept talking over me telling me about 'NEW PARKING RULES"... I KNOW THE NEW PARKING RULES!!! I travel a lot and am home every so often and whenever I return, there's always something with the air condition, the RIDICULOUS smoke and stench from my neighbor(s) blazing up, or my front door not feeling secure when I lock it that I complained about when I first moved in and you know what? It's still not fixed and I thought this apartment was supposed to be non-smoking?! Packages are supposed to be left in a secure room, but UPS, FedEX and USPS don't care. If you're not home, good luck. They'll leave it in the vestibule area where anybody can take it. In fact, I already lost two very important shipments that I was waiting for. What's even better about that is that the companies I ordered from won't relpace the packages because it's not their fault and blame it all on the carrier and good luck with complaining about lost packages to any one of them. I had to pay out of pocket again, and now I just have my packages shipped to a friend's house so that I can pick it up later. The place not what it seems to be. "You can put make-up on a pig but it's still a pig." I had to get this apartment out of desperation and time. It looked so nice on the brochure, but as soon as my lease ends, you won't be able to move me out fast enough. I sadly signed a 14 month lease. What the hell was I thinking?! I'm glad that I travel a lot, but it also sucks that I pay what I pay for rent for mediocre, at best, management. I'm also writing this after a 1400 mile, 10 day trip with working with 3 accounts per day. I just want to go home and feel appreciated and this place didn't make me feel that way... c'est la vie.
