Having been stationed at Pease Air Force Base from 1981-1983, and having played this course several…read moretimes back then. I was excited to return. Things have definitely changed. A lot of trees are gone, the swampy area (which we called the flats) seems to have been drained, and I noted the course was in excellent condition. It seemed to me to be shorter and play easier than I remember, but I really only remembered 2 holes (#10 at the end of a runway, which i remember as #1 and #2 which i remember in general but not where on the course it was). But... it's been 40 years and I may be misremembering. Anyway, the course is forgiving. My drives were not spectacular, but u was able to hit approach shots on or near enough to the green to score mostly pass and bogeys... in a soaking rain. As a veteran, I payed $38 to walk, which i thought reasonable. After, i went to the grill for lunch. However, no one had noticed me for two minutes, and, since I was wet and uncomfortable, I left and drove back to connecticut. I definitely want to go back on a warm, sunny day!

We came in early November on a Sunday, parked on Route 1A by a 2-hr parking sign, and walked down to the loop at the end of Harbor Beach Rd near Cliff Walk, and just sat on the concrete path leading to the beach eating our lunch. It was bliss. The abundant and unseasonably warm sunshine, the vast expanse of ocean ebbing and flowing, the sloping crescent shaped sandy beach... there was nothing not perfect about it. Definitely one of the most memorable afternoons I've had in a long time!

There were hundreds of ducks lying on the side of the pond, unable to swim due to the duckweed infestation. It was actually very depressing to see. I really hope these conditions are addressed. It is also worth mentioning that the ride section hasn't been worth visiting in many years. More than half of the rides are gone and the ones that remain do not look properly maintained. I grew up visiting this amusement park and the condition it is in now is really sad.

The MAINE attractions include monkeys, sloths, ostriches, reindeers, ravens, foxes, Kookaburras, zebras, lemurs, deer, geese, large blue pigeon, owls, Asian otter, Ankole cattle, chickens, goats, ducks, alligators, kangaroos, prairie dogs, and a lioness and tiger!! They have a butterfly kingdom filled with lovely plants and butterflies and a reptile area filled with tarantulas, snakes, frogs. Our favorite parts were feeding the birds for $2.50! What a fun experience! The birds were so friendly and loved eating from the popsicle stick with seeds! Then we were able to feed the goats, deer and ducks! The baby deer was SO CUTE and the animals are adorable and come right up to you. We were OVERJOYED that we had the ENTIRE zoo to ourselves cause it was raining but the monkeys were still going wild and howling! It was so much fun! Also Moxie is my favorite animal- she is three years old and is a beautiful Tiger. She sat right in front of us and was majestic to appreciate- she is a calm tiger. All the animals are taken care for and we are so glad we made the stop today! It was $18 per person and honestly had a blast. Great for visiting in the summer and early September as they close September 21! Next year they will have a Capybara! This was sooo much fun! We spent almost 2 hours here and loved reading the educational facts along…read morethe boardwalk and exploring the caves! There were so many beautiful areas along the boardwalk. The lemon squeezer and dungeon were the most difficult but also the most fun! We got a bit muddy and wet but that's all part of the adventure!
