Locals say it's been here since the dinosaurs, and honestly, I believe it. My car hit it so hard, I swear I saw fossils. The Waxahachie Pothole offers a full range of emotions: terror, regret, and then a strange sense of accomplishment. It's like a surprise party for your tires, except the party is hosted by gravity and asphalt neglect. Bonus points for the sound effects--it's like your car screams, "Why have you forsaken me?" in real time. For the full experience, I recommend hitting it at night, when it's camouflaged by the streetlights. Daylight encounters are fine too, but you miss the thrill of the element of surprise. And don't worry--if you get stuck, locals will be more than happy to charge you a tow fee while sharing their own pothole horror stories. Honestly, this pothole is a Waxahachie treasure. Sure, I lost a hubcap, but I gained a story to tell at every barbecue from now until eternity. 10/10, would hit again (mostly because I have no choice). Thank you, Waxahachie, for this masterpiece of municipal engineering!

I was not able to get a decent angle to see the astronomical observatory because of traffic lights and trees. I'm sure the interior is pretty cool but it was closed on this late afternoon. The marker is at the intersection of College Street and Marvin Avenue. There is no nearby legal parking. The marker reads, "The Northwest Texas Conference, Methodist Episcopal Church South, built a college named for Bishop E.M. Marvin at the site in 1870-71. Waxahachie Methodists and others gave land, services, and money to develop the college. Distinctions were attained in music and chemistry teaching. The astronomical observatory was an outstanding feature. The enrollment reached about 250. Financially troubled, the college stressed practical studies in the 1880s, but closed in 1884. Richardson (1839-1922), county surveyor, Mason, and veteran of the 12th Texas Confederate Cavalry, married Ann Elizabeth Reagor (1849-1923) in 1865. Both were descendants of the family for which Reagor Springs was named. A cousin, Robert S. Reagor, was buried on the Richardsons' property in 1879. In 1890 the land was deeded for use as a cemetery. Also buried here are two of the Richardsons' six children. The Richardsons left Reagor Springs near the turn of the century. Other early area families also are buried in the cemetery, which contains thirty graves. Those interred in the Richardson Cemetery helped to forge Reagor Springs and early Ellis County." Enjoyed it a lot! * Wasteland, Zombie Apocalypse - Scary * Bootleggers Bayou - wasn't scary and needed more. We also bought the fast pass with our tickets and it was worth it. We didn't have to wait more than 10 min in a line. We were able to experience so much in a 2.5 hour time. By time we left the place was getting busier by the minute and it was 9:30pm.

Vendors: There are a ton of small businesses and vendors. Many of these businesses sell medieval themed handmade armor, garments, and accessories. Tasted good, but not enough food! Potatoes were good. Green beans were ok. I will NEVER again eat at the Faire again! Fair food is not that good, and it's SEVERELY overpriced!!! I understand the Faire is being run by new management and it's not going over well. Scarborough has always had a certain ambiance. As long as the new owners don't try to change a lot, just improvements, I think it'll continue to be a place people will return to.

Once we dug around in their FB comments we finally found the 2024 address and the closing date (which we missed by a long shot). The top Google searches, this Yelp ad, TripAdvisor--none of them showed this as a moving temporary display. If you really want to see (and pick) tulips, next year go to Texas Tulips north of Dallas. At least their website makes the address and their open/close dates very clear.
