My Mom and my aunt now drive over 45 minutes to see her after my hearing about my experiences. I myself was referred to her by friends who are also still longtime patients. She is a lovely human being and her staff are all kind, dedicated and supportive. I was seen on time, and Dr. Ratushny is the most thorough doctor I have ever encountered. After a full skin check, he counseled me on a number of issues, from acne to eczema to sunscreen, and had a full plan or reason why no treatment was needed for each concern. He took a biopsy of my eczema on a Tuesday, and his office called with results on Friday, making small adjustments to the treatment plan I was given until I'm seen for a follow-up appointment. MA Dermatology Associates also has an online patient portal where I was able to log in and review the notes and photos taken at my visit. He answered all of my questions realistically and without making me feel like any of them were silly, and I feel very confident in Dr. Ratushny's care.

Despite this, both the dermatologist and the medical assistants insisted that the reaction could not have been caused by the product and advised me to resume using it once the irritation cleared. I followed their instructions, and as soon as I reapplied the solution, my scalp broke out in the exact same reaction the very next day. Even after experiencing two identical reactions within four weeks--each occurring immediately after using the topical--everyone I spoke with continued to dismiss the obvious connection and suggested the cause was something else I was doing. It is extremely clear that the reaction was caused by the product they prescribed, yet throughout every conversation, the staff didn't to acknowledge this possibility. The unwillingness to take my concerns seriously was very frustrating.

Ultraclear laser and Lasercoring with Dr. Shanthala…read more I have been going to Dr. Shanthala for a number of years and less than two weeks ago I had facial treatment with the Ultraclear laser and Lasercoring. I am so thrilled with the results. I did not use any numbing pre-treatment and the recovery process was only a few days. I had to travel to three different conferences the following week after treatment and I was able to present without any issues. Dr. Shanthala is an incredible doctor, and I would get laser treatment with the Ultraclear laser and Lasercoring again. All the treatments Dr. Shanthala offers are amazing. Now, just over one and half weeks out from my initial visit, I couldn't be happier with the results. My skin looks great, and the treatment areas look youthful and natural.

During my last visit I had a freckle which looked concerning so my regular dermatologist removed…read moreit. The lab came back as concerning, so they scheduled me to come back to remove more "margins" with Dr. Rohrer. Dr. Rohrer was scheduled to do the procedure, but after spending about 1 minute with me he handed me off to a woman who I assume was his intern, although she was not identified as such, so I am not sure. She did the entire procedure which turned out to involve more than a dozen stitches and an 8 inch scar! I was told they make it longer to allow it to have less of an obvious scar. Well, my scar is huge, crooked and ugly. (The original spot was less than .5cm). After the procedure, the healing of the scar looked concerning and hurt, but when I called I was not able to reach a doctor. I left a message with the clinical line and never received a call back. I called again 2 days later due to swelling, reddness and itch, but once again couldn't reach anyone. I asked for an email or direct voicemail, but aparently they don't have it, you can only leave a message with the receptionist. This is really not ok. When I finally went in to get the stitches out, Dr. Sobell and others seemed concerned about my lack of response and said they would look into it. It is now a few months later and I have a huge ugly scar on my leg instead of a tiny freckle. I am glad I had it removed, but am not pleased with my experience. I have heard that other dermatology offices have plastic surgeons do procedures such as the one I had to minimize scarring, or the doctor who the appointment was with should at least be in the room for more than 60 seconds. I would not go back and am considering switching my regular dermatologist to a different practice even though I like him.
