Betty has thought of virtually everything a traveler could need and guests get free reign of the upstairs during their stay. I love that Betty welcomes people to take home unfinished books from her library - "books are meant to be read, not sit on a shelf," she says. Breakfast was made at the prearranged time convenient for us (so appreciated!) and was delicious and abundant. She sat and chatted with us during breakfast and is so personable. We had to depart on a jet plane that afternoon after our 4-day trip to the Evergreen State and had a few bottles of wine that we hadn't enjoyed so I offered them to Betty and she even suggested she could take their value off our bill, although I refused because they were a gift to her for our lovely stay. Would be happy to return to Viewmont Manor if we ever find ourselves back in Bellingham!

Viewmont Manor is located at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac and her home is beautiful. You will wake up in the morning to fresh homemade berry scones and coffee, and Betty will prepare a delicious breakfast! We had hot eggs Benedict on delicate risotto cakes with asparagus on the side. This was served with Greek yogurt and granola, along with a cold glass of orange juice. Even though the food was to die for, the best part about Viewmont Manor was meeting Betty. She is the sweetest, most sincere Bed & Breakfast hostess that anyone could ask for. When you stay at Viewmont Manor you feel like a dear member of her family. I can't wait to come back to visit!

Sharing great breakfast and talking with them in the mornings were a highlight of our stay. After breakfast, we asked to tag along as they fed their various animals. We bonded with their Sika Deer and almost got the Wallaby to trust us. Carrie would make our evenings great with some fresh baked cookies while we watched old movies on VCR by the fire. We will definitely be back and are looking forward to our next visit.

We stayed 5 nights at the Mystic Mountain B&B and lets start this review with 5 stars = 6 stars in hospitality all by itself let alone all the other "make yourselves at home" that came with our experience. Carrie & Chuck, our hosts, were delightful from start to finish. They made sure we had everything we needed and then some. From the amazing from scratch breakfasts each morning to the fresh baked plate of goodies each evening our stay was filled with one smile after another. The B&B is only one of the many things they offer with this special 100 acre property. The property also boasts a full service nursery with some of the best looking hanging pots displays I've seen in years and an assortment of farm & exotic animals that will delight kids and adults alike. The views of the surrounding mountains are amazing as are the walks along the river that runs along the property. The peaceful fresh air feeling and soul recharge that comes with this stay is hard to put a price on. Mystic Mountain Farm is only about a 20-25 minute drive to either Arlington or Darrington (sits about halfway between the two on Hwy 530) and I'd highly recommend you consider a stay here to make any visit an extra special one.

Ahh, Whispering Firs. A tale of two sides, if there ever was one. My wife and I stayed here…read morerecently and had some very good experiences and thoughts...but also had some very negative things as well. We had originally booked two nights, but because of the negatives we ended up staying just the first night and checked-out early. Here's the tale of the tape: The Good: - Linda and Vic (the innkeepers) are very nice. Extremely friendly and easy to talk to, Linda made us feel at home straightaway and was great company and conversation during breakfast. - Speaking of, the food was really good. We had blueberry cream cheese pancakes, bacon, and scrambled eggs for breakfast. Along side juice, fruit, and coffee/tea. Linda was also very accommodating toward dietary concerns too. - The property and view is gorgeous! Located up on a mountain area, Whispering Firs overlooks the valley and you can even see the Sound and Whidbey Island. - The house itself is warm, comfortable, and inviting. There's a beautiful deck on the backside that it multi-tiered and has a walking path around little ponds. This would be great for entertaining and lounging. The Bad: - To get there, you have to drive up a half-mile gravel road that is full of potholes and bumps. It's narrow and not something that a regular car can navigate quickly. Wish we had a 4x4 vehicle. - The bed in our room (the North Suite) was way too high. It sounds weird to say that, but at roughly 3 feet high, it was a struggle for my 8 month pregnant wife to literally climb in and out of. - There were no curtains on the windows...just blinds that didn't block out all of the light and sight lines. So, there was a big lack of privacy seeing as the windows looked out onto the deck. - This room is located right next to the breakfast room, so it is extremely loud in the mornings. Breakfast is normally served at 8:30, but our morning had a group that wanted to eat at 7:00. That meant at 6:30 things got rolling on the other side of the wall and we heard it all. Neither Good nor Bad, Just Depends on You Point of View: - There is a large collection of stuffed animals (the taxidermy type) throughout the house and bedrooms. A hunter's paradise...so may not be up your alley. All in all, this could be a lovely place to stay; but it just didn't suite us and fit our needs. For someone else, it might be perfect. In this review, I'm simply wanting you to be better informed that I was. Hope it helps.

The tree houses are so quaint and relaxing. The property is 420 friendly, so it was awesome to be able to smoke in the tree house, by the fire pit, even in the lounge while getting our snacks/drinks from the fridge. This space feels very cozy and more community-oriented than something like a hotel or air BnB. Pretty close to town, so easy to access anything you might need within a 10-15min drive. The animals on the property were all so precious and calm and curious about us. This was just such an awesome experience and stay! Highly recommend to people who are 420 enthusiasts, chill/relaxed mindset, looking for a quiet and calm stay, and love the outdoors. Not a good place if you're looking for luxury and a high-end boutique stay. But so incredible if you're into nature, want to toke in the trees, and appreciate and revel in the little beauties of life.

My friends also had difficulty sleeping due to the bed quality and the cold from the thin walls as well. Room quality: I got upgraded from the Lighthouse room to the Oar House which had two beds to choose from. It also was missing the main blind facing the outdoor seating area. Even with the thermostat at 70, I found myself shivering in the middle of the night due to thin walls (I could hear the cars zoom by from the back of the house in the room and the windows were single paned). The bathroom wasn't connected to the room, rather it was across the hall that required stepping outside into the cold, though still under a roof. There are no channels to watch, only DVDs which I counted there were 36 to choose from. There was no VCR to use but a bunch of videos to choose from. WiFi is not accessible in the Oar House so I was told to go to the room where breakfast would be served to get any internet, which was across the backyard into the other side of the house. Food: it is all frozen food that you heat yourself. There were Schwann's omelets, pancakes, sausages, frozen Greek yogurt and eggo waffles. The cereals available were mini wheats, raisin bran, corn flakes and others. There is a keurig that only had coffee available. Overall the view is beautiful and the decor is very nautical and unique with pictures of Oggie during his fisherman days also it is 5 min driving to the ferry. But it isn't worth the $135 a night due to poor sleep quality from thin walls and frozen food. At $50 it is definitely worth it just for the view itself but the location isn't in walking distance of anything except for the ferry.

We called Auggie at the very last minute, around 8:30, and he was more than hospitable. He turned the heat on for us ahead of time so it was nice and warm when we got there, and Jason gave us a thorough tour of the property upon arrival. In the morning we ended our trip with tips and a hug from Auggie- "once you stay here, you're family". Such a highlight of our trip, and we will be sure to be back if we are ever lucky to make it to this beautiful place again.
