My experience with Ella David Salon is so heart breaking. I went there because of the reviews....now I'm wondering if they are fabricated. I am a cancer survivor. My hair is course and brittle. I have to take really good care of my hair. It took years after radiation to grow my hair back. We moved here because my husband got a job with Fedex. I've been around the US and experienced many hair salons. I went to see Gracie. She is super sweet. I told her the issues with my hair and she promised to take care of me. I got a couple of rows of highlights and then low lights over the rest of my hair. She gave me a "collagen treatment" that was supposed to help keep my hair from breaking. I paid $280 for all the "special treatments" to keep my hair in good condition. I've never paid that much for my hair....even living in CA. Gracie straightened my naturally curly hair, and I went home and washed my hair a couple days later. To my horror, I noticed a TON of breakage ALL OVER MY HAIR. I started crying and called Ella David Salon. They promised to have Gracie call me. Gracie text me back and I sent her pictures of what happened. She felt bad and was very nice. But there was nothing she could do but offer another "hair treatment". I didn't want my hair further ruined so I declined. I called again to talk to the owner about what happened. I left 3 messages. Finally I got upset and told the salon I needed the owner to call me back ASAP. Finally after a week, the owner got back to me. I explained the situation to her and explained how her products ruined my hair. The owner was SO apathetic and rude. She did not care AT ALL that her products ruined my hair I worked years to grow after cancer. She said they could "cut my hair and give my a free conditioner". ARE YOU KIDDING??? I paid $280 for you to ruin my hair and you tell me to get a hair cut??? I was crying on the phone to the owner and she blatantly told me there was nothing she could do and it wasn't her fault. Please be wary of this salon. The owner does not care....the reviews are deceiving. They will outrageously charge you and then ignore you. I posted a before damage and after damage photo read more

I would leave negative stars if I could. I got my hair done by Jeremy 2 weeks ago and I am still discovering how horrendous this haircut was. I scheduled for 4pm on a weekday, when I arrived there was a woman in his chair with foils in. He moved her and had me sit down. I showed him my picture of what I wanted he quickly glanced at it and took off to mix color for full highlights. He asked me if I wanted the highlights done where the comb is weaved through or just applied directly, I have never been asked this and I was apprehensive because I couldn't tell if this was him rushing. He began my color and left 2-3 times to check the other woman's foils. When he finished he moved me to a chair and replaced me with the other woman. I went with one of the ladies to wash my hair, and when I got back the woman was still in his chair with wet hair. I sat on a bench with dripping wet hair for 15 minutes while he cut, dried and curled her hair. By the time I sat down I had been there over an hour and I could tell Jeremy was ready to go home. He cut my hair in under 3 minutes, began drying it, and discovered my color had "bleed" and had to put a chemical on and have me sit there and rerinse finished barely looked and sent me off. When I got home I noticed immediately one side was significantly longer than the other. My coworkers confirmed it and I called to get it fixed. They told me I could come get it fixed Saturday morning (3 days later) and I was genuinely embarrassed to walk around witb mt hair. I went in Saturday, he gave me a half hearted apology and fixed the cut. THEN my sister came over and at one look gasped and told me my color was messed up- and lone behold it sure was. Somehow when I came in Saturday to get the cut fixed he didn't notice the color too. I paid 215$ plus tip, the most I have ever paid for my hair and it was the worst cut, color and service I have ever had. Would never ever ever return. For the salon- if you don't want to work after 4pm and feel that you overbooked or are rushed, call and reschedule. I would much rather come in another day and get decent service then have to drive 30 minutes to get a rushed job fixed. read more

When we first started coming to Ella David salon I felt that Lauren P. did a fantastic job. She took time with me, my husband and my father. We had a good relationship for over a year. About a week before I moved across country I came in for a haircut and color. I requested Lauren dye my hair back to its natural color, a dark brown. She spent about 4 minutes with me and choose a color. I then was shuffled to the room with all of the sinks. A different person then applied the dye to my hair and left me there for about 30 minutes. Lauren mixed the hair dye, that was about it. Then when it was washed out, by this different person, Lauren spent less than 10 minutes cutting my hair. They charge extra money for blow outs so I opted out of that, but I think that's kind of tacky. I noticed immediately that my hair color was very dark but decided to give it a few days since my hair was still wet. Also, my skin on my face was stained, they had no attention to detail or consideration for how bad that looked. Well, going home I noticed my hair was RED. Dark, dark brown with RED. I reached out to Lauren via facebook, because we were "friends". She read the message and did not respond. I gave it another day, meanwhile my husband is furious at how horrible my hair looks. Finally, I reached out again, only to be ignored again. It was only after I reached out to Ella David directly that she messaged me. At that point, I was 2 days away from moving across the country and literally could not come back in before I moved. Also, I did not trust her at that point to touch my hair again. There was very little effort to make things right, there was no refund offered. Finally, after a month or so in my new home I had my color corrected but there is STILL red in my hair. She had to put SO much ash in to try an neutralize it. DO NOT GO TO ELLA DAVID SALON. read more

I had the best experience here. Got a Brazilian Blowout with Gracie it's been a while since my hair has been this SOFT and healthy looking. I dont get my hair done a lot so I was worried about how it would go for the price but I definitely invested well going with Gracie. She was laid back but caring and attentive. Made sure I was comfortable and that the treatment wasn't hurting my scalp. Would definitely come again for my next hair treatment!!! read more

For my entire life, I've been the guy who says I love my haircut while I'm at the salon and then gets in the car and almost cries looking at it in the rear view mirror. Every stylist I've ever had has cut me way too short and made my head look like a bowling pin -- until coming to Ella David Salon. I have had my hair cut by Rachel, Jeremy, Gracie, and Lauren, who are all fantastic, but I think I've finally found a favorite in Lauren. I am letting my hair grow out longer in my 20s than I ever have, and I'm loving it. For the first time in my life, I don't walk out of the salon feeling nearly bald. Lauren knows how to cut men's hair without just cutting all of it off, which apparently is not something all stylists can do. I'm so glad I found this place. read more

The only salon I will probably ever trust. My whole life I have had trouble trusting salons with my hair. I have thick, curly hair and no one ever seemed to get it right. In 2019, I had trusted another salon and I ended up with VERY bad, brassy highlights (I was trying to go platinum blonde). I was embarrassed and frustrated to say the least. My mom introduced me to Ella David Salon and a couple months later I gave it a try. Lauren P worked her magic and my hair ended up looking great. Warning. I'm a cryer. No seriously. I have been known to cry after hair cuts. So, I am absolutely and totally THAT girl. I'm okay with that! When it comes to these locks, I have had some really whack jobs! Thankfully, no tears were shed at Ella David Salon. I have been back in the Memphis area for about 2 years, and attempted one other salon locally and cried. So, for the last 2 years, I have been flying back to my beloved Vikki Veach in Houston to have my hair cut and colored. Until Friday...not just any Friday but VALENTINE'S day. UGH!! No pressure, Holly. So, I made an appointment to see Holly. She was sweet and kind. She was thoughtful and supportive of my crying history (which she was warned about prior to my arrival). She understood. Thank goodness! Those that don't understand, shouldn't really be messing with my hair to begin with. She did a fantastic job. She ran ON TIME (which never happens). And she took her tame caring for my precious locks. I appreciated the conversation and discussions of healthy hair and how to help me style my hair. Gracie Duncan helped my bad pixie cut go from terrible to terrific! After having a bad experience in Bartlett, I decided to drive over to Ella David Salon to see what could be done. The moment I stepped inside the salon, I felt at ease. The receptionist was exceptionally nice as was Gracie. She listened intently, and promised she could make my hair look much better. Ella Davis is the perfect place to get your hair done! I have been visiting several salons lately and they have dramatically messed up my color. So i googled and found Ella Davis Salon. I brought in a picture of what I wanted my hair to look like and she did exactly that! As I went to pay I thought, oh great I cant wait to see how much it is, since I usually get ripped off at other salons. It was only $90.00 for a full hair color! I went to Genny and she was great! I've gotten my hair done at Ella David Salon since as long as I can remember, and I would not go anywhere else. Even though I live in another state now for school, I only let Laura touch my hair! Every time I visit Memphis, I schedule an appointment. She listens to what I want done or I let her cut and style how she thinks is best and I walk out with beautiful hair every time! I arrive at the salon knowing I will never have a bad experience. I'm convinced this salon is by far more excellent and more professional than any other. She listened, looked at the pictures I brought her for reference (instead of the one look, I got it attitude I have unfortunately experienced before) and gave me a wonderful cut. I told the stylist what I wanted done and even SHOWED HER A PICTURE and SHE DID NOT LISTEN TO ME. I should have ran when she started putting the foils in my hair because I knew it was not going to come out right when she was highlighting the top part of my hair and I wanted it dark on the top. I also asked her to do my roots but she said they didn't need to be done. SHE DID NOT LISTEN TO ME AND DID NOT CARE. She knew it wasn't what I wanted. She was also rough, literally pulling the foils out! Ok, now time to relax when she shampoos my hair... Nope, that hurt too, and I am tough headed! This girl was ridiculous. She did cut my hair right but everything else was a disaster. I never complain, didn't even complain to her but my scalp eleven hours later still hurts and I'm going to have to redo my hair in two days because she didn't do my roots and the color is not what I wanted.
