The people inside are friendly and can answer any questions you have. They have a bunch of info posted on boards outside about hiking in the area, current laws, things happening around town and some of the wildlife you might encounter. I was pissed off about their "pet area" because they have a large beautiful grassy area in front of the visitors center, but pets are not allowed on the grass and must resort to behind the building where it's nothing but rocks. I saw tons of broken glass and then there were the piles of other pets shit all over the rocks and I didn't feel it was the best or safest spot for my dog to be. I feel that because the pet area is designated behind the building that it's maybe not cared for or noticed by the people inside the visitors center much. It's sad because it's the pet owners who should be cleaning up after their pets and clearly they are lazy and not doing it, but the visitors center allows dogs in that area, so they should help keep it at least safe with no broken glass or not have it at all given there is a nearby park within walking distance people could go to that is well maintained. Upon entering I immediately felt unwelcome with the locals and staff just staring at me as if I didn't belong there no welcome or even a verbal acknowledgment. I walked up to the bar and greeted the bartender he didn't reply just stared at me and walked away. I sat at one of the bartop machines and was not offered a drink or even acknowledged. I decided to go sit at one of the machines on the floor and play there instead. A worker then approached me and asked if I had ID which was expected and I provided it she then proceeded to tell me that I couldn't have any outside drinks in the casino and to throw away my water which is ridiculous seeing as I wasn't offered any drink at all even though I was actively playing. After I threw away my water she walked away and never spoke with me again. I played a little bit more than left. As far as gaming is concerned these are the worst pay tables I have seen in any gaming bar/casino, everything returning well below 97% for video poker, there are some pay tables that return close to 90% which is so bad you may as well just play a regular slot machine. There is no players club either or any other incentive to play. After talking to locals in other places around Mesquite I heard even more horror stories about this place and how they treat new clientele. Overall a very bad experience in every category would not recommend giving this place your business, the management needs to make some serious changes if they want to continue operating otherwise I look forward to its inevitable closure and acquisition by Dotty's or another gaming operator.

Look, we all know you're busy, but it literally takes 2 seconds to say hi, I'll be right with you. And when people ask for a menu, it's a good idea to give them a menu because they probably want to eat. And if you do remember to bring them a menu, it's also a good idea to come back and ask them if they'd like to order any food. Look, we're not launching the space shuttle here. A little common sense goes a long way.

There's plenty of free parking in the plaza where the museum is located. & speaking of free - there is no entrance fee to get in to the museum! We were greeted right away by the friendliest woman who gave us a donkey spiel & then offered to take a hilarious video of us (please watch it - it's attached to this review). The museum is equal parts informative & quirky. I loved all of the historic donkey photos & giggled at the wooden donkey figurines. I just wish I had longer to spend here so I could read every single photo caption. There's a cute little trinket section (I wish there was more - I would buy more!) & an option to donate to the museum. Donate! Keep this adorable little function alive. The Clark County Fair and Rodeo is a fantastic county fair out in the middle of nowhere…read more You drive from Vegas like you are going towards Salt Lake City which means leaving Nevada for Arizona by way of Mesquite. Just when you are out in the desert, before Mesquite, you turn off toward Logandale and in just a few miles you find parking for the county fair. Once you enter the gates to the fair you feel transported to someplace else. It is green and has shade trees everywhere. Locals are pulling out their camping chairs and claiming their spots underneath a canopy of old trees. It seems like a giant family picnic or reunion. Off to the left is a building hosting artwork, photography, and a ton of crafts. There is a little shop inside with inexpensively priced snacks and drinks. There was a face painter on the way out of that building as you work your way to the large entertainment building with a terrific stage and seating area. We saw illusionists, a hypnotist, bands, and a drumming duo - show after show after show. Then back outside we saw strolling jugglers, a baseball comedy fire show, a one-man band, and many vendors. Beyond the myriads of vendors was a building full of more vendors including one selling amazing fudge. Back up towards the office we saw another stage with a lot of dancers. Then there were some barns and other buildings working our way back around the fairgrounds. Beyond that was the carnival full of great rides and games and vendors from Brown's Amusements. We spent the entire day there and had so much fun. When we told my dad about it, he insisted on going next year. So, we have plans to visit him in Vegas and take him to the 2026 Clark County Fair and Rodeo.

After attending the Super Run Classic Car Show in downtown Henderson last weekend, I am a fan of…read morelocal events.The Super Run Classic Car Show transformed Water Street into a classic car museum filled with people. The cars included a 1923 Ford coexisting with a Chevy El Camino, a Plymouth Road Runner, 1978 Trans Am, and every classic car imaginable. Just like a good museum, the cars included information about their year and make. A good number of the cars had the hoods popped open to display the engines. The vehicle owners were there to share information. There was even a stand displaying hundreds of Match Box and Hot Wheels cars for sale. The Super Run Classic Car Show featured a few food concessions plus a beer garden. They sold corn dogs, smoothies, hot dogs, burgers, sausages, and fries. Personally I have mixed feelings about the food concessions in downtown events. My understanding is that the events are entertainment that helps stimulate the downtown economy. On Water Street so much of the downtown economy is restaurants and bars. I'd do my part by supporting the Cafe in the El Dorado, the Coffee House, and the Gold Mine Tavern because they plan to be in the community for the long run. Besides, lately I'm not too crazy over the taste of carnival food. In my reporting of the Super Clasic Car Show, what made Super Run Classic Car Show shine was that it made Water Street shine. I never saw Water Street so happening on a weekend afternoon. For a day Water Street looked like US 66 when GTOs ruled the road. A Water Street that is usually empty on a Sunday morning was animated with people. These people were supporting local businesses. From my observation, business was up on Water Street. There was even a 15 minute wait to eat in the Cafe. It also seemed that the casinos and bars were busier. When I look back on the Super Run Car Show, I think of how it made Water Street shine on a weekend afternoon When I look back on this event, I look forward to more local events.

This event is just a bit over an hour drive from Las Vegas, in Mesquite. At first we passed the…read moregolf course and I thought we were lost or took a wrong turn but we kept going and the view open up to where a bunch of cars were parked and there was people guiding us to the parking spot. Parking is $30 per car but we carpool with friends and split the cost. Once we parked we loaded our wagon with blankets, snacks and drinks. Checked in at the tent for our markers and lantern and then walked into the crowds to look for available spots to sit. I recommend bringing a fold up chair next time. It was also hot 100+ degrees so we arrived kinda late, at 7pm and we had just enough time to decorate our lantern before lighting it up and releasing it. Releasing the lantern was special and beautiful. It was like floating stars lighting up the sky. It was magical! There is a 2nd release btw that no one told us about for a fee. You would have to buy a 2nd lantern. Also I read online that there would be fireworks but we did not see any. The event started 2 hours before sundown but it was hot so we arrive right before sundown. I recommend the event admin dim the light post when it's time to release the lantern as the lights was too bright when we wanted to take photos and videos. There were also food trucks along one side which was helpful. Hoping we can do this again next year
