I normally avoid writing reviews like this, but after my experience at this barn, I feel a responsibility to speak out -- both for the sake of the horses and for others who may be considering boarding here.
The overall care and management of this facility were deeply concerning. Stall conditions were consistently poor -- many remained unclean for days, often saturated with urine and piled with manure. Horses were frequently left standing in these unsanitary environments, which is not only inhumane but dangerous to their health.
Feeding was another serious issue. Hay and alfalfa quality was so low that most horses refused to eat it. In some heartbreaking cases, horses were so hungry they resorted to eating their own manure -- a clear sign of nutritional neglect. On top of that, the grain provided was of poor quality and poorly matched to each horse's needs. There were also days when horses were not fed at all -- which is completely unacceptable under any circumstances, let alone for the premium prices being charged.
Turnout was inconsistent at best. Horses were often kept stalled indefinitely, even when weather conditions were mild and safe for turnout. In many cases, there was no explanation provided -- it simply wasn't a priority.
The lesson program was equally disappointing. Horses were run through multiple back-to-back lessons with no breaks, raising serious concerns about their physical well-being. The primary trainer routinely remained disengaged -- often on his phone -- and failed to teach even basic horsemanship. It was clear that most instruction was more about collecting fees than genuinely supporting students or developing riders. Many capable and caring trainers ultimately left, unable to tolerate the conditions or the owner's approach to management.
As for the owner, it became evident that the welfare of the animals was not the priority -- profit was. Attempts to express concerns were met with defensiveness or complete dismissal. Communication was strained, and the overall atmosphere was toxic and discouraging.
I removed my horse from this barn nearly a year ago and can confidently say it was one of the best decisions I've made. I will never return and strongly advise others to look elsewhere. Horses deserve better -- and so do the people who care for them. read more
