Handles missing for weight machines, weight adjustment pins lost heads., holes were in the walls for months. The bigger one near me is uncomfortable and is giant open gym style no windows, also no yoga or pilates classes offered in any of the gyms that have classes available. One farther away I like better but it still has equipment that is in need of sprucing up. Tredmills or bikes that don't turn on and track progress.

I was traveling a LOT at the time and they refused to do it over the phone, only in person. The next time I was in town I went in and requested in person that this be cancelled. The young guy at the counter told me it was done, no worries. Never received an email or any follow up. Called again three different times and was told it was "cancelled." Noticed it was still coming out and called AGAIN. This went on for TWO YEARS before finally telling my bank it was fraudulent and not to process any more charges. I get an email about my "missed" payment to which I replied "is this a joke? How many times do I have say THIS IS CANCELLED!!!" Two days later I get an email from someone named Zach Ake confirming it was cancelled.

That was 9 years ago and I have been regularly coming to the gym ever since. My health and fitness have definitely improved thanks to the programming and nutritional advice offered. Crossfit Elkhart has a super supportive and nurturing atmosphere. Turns out I'm pretty competitive and that is also supported by the members and coaches from being encouraged to do competitions or just trying to beat your workout buddies. Everyone is positive and will go out of their way to help. The community at Crossfit Elkhart is very family like and it is amazing how quickly strangers turn into close friends. We celebrate milestones and holidays as well as having a group of people available to hang out with outside of the gym. Crossfit Elkhart helped me from going from a middle aged woman with no athletic background to a crossfit games age qualifier athlete and granite games competitor. Debbie

Not to mention, the people here are amazing and supportive- definitely a family type of feel with people who help push me forward while aiding in holding me accountable. All of the coaches (and members) are great at explaining details and helping to break down each movement so that I can easily learn how to master them! (AND they are also extremely patient with me, which I need since I'm new to crossfit!) Very grateful that I began here! I wish I had started sooner.

As with most 24 hr gyms with unstaffed hours, other gym-goers can't put weights back on racks. Equipment is kept up. The student helpers are also very impressive young men and women. We started the six month program to try out Martial Arts. When the pandemic hit, we knew it would be an indication of dedication as to why businesses would step up and answer the call to challenge and diversity or cave to the many existing pressures. The Star team chose to rise up and answer the call, bringing along with them a group of like-minded students. What came out of it was an even stronger team who demonstrated the life skills they taught: respect, discipline, communication & confidence. This weekend our daughter became one of the youngest black belts and has enjoyed being a student and now leader at Star. We can't say enough about Masters Mr. & Mrs. Birky, Ms. Torres, Mr. Cooper, Ms. E & C Gallegos, Mr. Schoettmer, Mr. Hartman & Mr. Hawkins along with all the other instructors who are learning to lead and assist in classes or who may no longer be at Star. You are an extraordinary team with life long goals both meaningful and purposeful. We appreciate the practice and effort you've given us, and as newly signed-up parents, we are now looking forward to our journey to black belt as well. Once again, we continue to strongly recommend Star Martial Arts - Elkhart to foster all the important life skills parents are teaching their children.
