We stumbled across this bed and breakfast and it didn't disappoint! We weren't really sure what to expect as this was our first time staying at a B&B but David was a great host. He made us feel very welcome and comfortable during our stay. The house was very cozy. The house built in 1910 has preserved a lot of the original beauty and is tastefully decorated. David is only the 4th owner of the property and the manager of the bed and breakfast. The breakfast was really enjoyable! We started with juice, coffee, fruit and yogurt. Next we had eggs, bacon, sausage, toast and more! He also had tea, biscottis and danishes available. We were stuffed and ready for a nap after eating. Would definitely recommend the property if looking for a place in the area. The house has 2 bedrooms with private bathrooms and 3 additional bedrooms that share a bathroom.

This stately property sits atop a hill; you can't help but notice it as you drive through the quaint neighborhood of Tyrone. The house is beautiful inside and out. Paul has done an incredible job at restoring the place and I so appreciate the historical significance of the structure. They have even taken the time to provide a write-up on the history of the home. Paul stayed up late for us after a long ride in and was incredibly attentive our entire stay. The home is very clean and tidy. Our corner room was all setup and nicely kept: elegant bedding, plenty of closet space, water bottles for our convenience and even freshly cut flowers. As the saying goes, its all in the details. It truly is a bed & breakfast. Paul cooked up a storm for guests on Sunday. There was so much to choose from; pancakes, bacon, eggs, coffee, muffins, and lots more! Would absolutely stay here again. Paul, you are a wonderful innkeeper and quite a good chef! The hosts are part of charm of this B&B. We got a demo of the player pianos and tour of the collection of cars. Bill and John were renovating their kitchen while we were there, but we were still treated to home-made yogurt and muffins and some of the best waffles I have ever had. We hope to return to see what they have done. Our Art Deco Hollywood suite was very comfortable and private. And, yes, we could lock the door. The grounds and gardens outside were beautiful. The experience could not have been better. We want to go back.

They are wonderful! They do anything they can to make their guests feel like they belong. If you are looking for great repartee or to enjoy a quiet evening alone, either way, they will happily oblige. Then there is the food! Everything is made from scratch...including the yogurt! Finally, there is the house itself. Enjoy mechanical music? Boy have they got it! There are at least four grand reproducing pianos, a pianola, a full player organ, numerous rare music boxes, and victrolas and radios of every sort. Then there is the collection of rare clocks...to many to count. During the summer, you will probably receive a tour of the spectacular antique car collection which includes two Franklin Automobiles and an American LaFrance roadster, to name a few. By the way, each suite is clean and well appointed and boasts a unique theme! Go, enjoy, have fun!!!

Looking around for some interesting and fun options we stumbled upon this B&B and decided to call to see if there were any openings. We were in luck! We quickly gave them some information and made our way down there. Upon our entry we were greeted warmly by Liberty the proprietor. She was wonderful and made check in super easy. I made myself some tea, helped myself to some gingersnap cookies, and got settled in for the night. The room was spacious and comfortable. The shower had a never ending (or so it seemed) supply of hot water and there was more than enough towels. I quickly felt at easy in the room and knew I would be getting a good nights rest. Breakfast, Liberty informed us, was held at two times, 7:30 and 9am. We picked to have ours early, which I was against, but it turned out wonderful. We got to eat a nice early breakfast and then went back to bed! Check out was at 11 so we got a few more hours of relaxing in before we hit the hiking trails. Yes, a late start, but the bed was too comfortable to leave! Breakfast was delicious. Scrambled eggs, french toast, sausage, and a fruit cup. They had orange juice, coffee, and tea. What a treat! The food was perfect. I could not ask for a better breakfast. This place was perfect. I would stay here again in a second. It was also so close to the attractions of Ohiopyle that it would be stupid not to suggest everyone to stay here!

We were in town for for a graduation from Mt. Aloysius College and the location was super! Marti and Steve, the owners could not have been nicer. The B&B was super clean and very inviting. The rooms are named after people important to local culture and there's a lot of local memorabilia throughout. We were in the Samuel Lemmon room on the second floor and it was very nice. The private bath was nearly as large as the room! Our room was quiet and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent (fruit cup followed by french toast and sausage). All of the rooms were rented while we were there but there was still plenty of space at the table and lots of breakfast to go around. We would absolutly return and highly recommend to anyone in the area!

They're in town, so you can walk to things, but it's a peaceful street, and our room was quiet. I couldn't get over the beautiful detail in every room. This was the 1950s home of the chancellor of the University of Pittsburgh (Pitt) and he added a lot to it back then. The house has been lovingly and authentically restored again - the owners have done a magnificent job and they know lots of stories! Out the back gate you'll find access to Bedford's historic cemetery - most graves date to the 1700s. If you like history, plan to spend some time here! Regarding the service and amenities, they are top-notch! Our bedding and towels were luxurious, the furniture divine, and breakfast was an elegant affair. We had our own separate hallway, so we felt somewhat secluded, which was nice. We met two sweet ladies at breakfast and had an intelligent conversation. Bottom line: You never know what you're going to get with an independent inn, but I can tell you that we had a tremendous time and would recommend the Chancellor's House to anyone who appreciates a fine, elevated experience.x

My husband and I chose Harmony Forge Inn & Barn as our out of state wedding venue for 2 reasons…read more 1.) It doubled as a place to stay for my immediate family who were all travelling from Austin, Texas and 2.) Our ceremony and reception would only be steps away from each other! (easier for guests). The Inn: The mansion is a beautiful 4 bedroom, 4 full bathroom, 1 half bathroom estate complete with parlor, dining room, kitchen (2 refrigerators), and beautiful photogenic staircase. I paid for the full weekend package, which includes all 4 bedrooms and entire house from Friday 8am until Sunday at noon. I also paid for the rehearsal dinner to be held in their dining room area, but once I arrived, the décor in the dining room was too drab for my taste and I ended up setting up in the barn. I would have set up the rehearsal dinner outside, but it unfortunately rained on Friday and Saturday. Some of the old décor is beautiful, but the window treatments and table cloths were just not to my taste and I could not be photographed next to them. However, the wood accents were to die for (staircase)and the house structure was very lovely. The Barn: Perfectly spacious and easy to make glamorous with the right décor. We used globe lights and hung them from the ceiling and it really provided an upscale vibe. I used all real china and glassware, added a few DIY touches like paper flowers, newspaper programs and tall lighted branch centerpieces to execute the look I was going for- rustic glam-it was relatively easy to accomplish. The space can be used for up to 160 guests per the management, but I wonder how crowded that would be. We had a good use of space with 110 guests, but I don't think I would have liked any more people in that size space. (Especially since it rained on my wedding day and we had to set up a temporary ceremony in the dj space in the barn, there definitely would not have been room if we had had any more people. The Cons: 1.) I was very stressed on Friday setting up the barn for the reception. It was hard to get a hold of management for setting up additional tables/chairs. And they forgot a table I requested for the rehearsal dinner I needed for gifts. 2.) Management seemed disorganized. They told me they might rent out the additional room on Saturday night, which I paid for in my full wedding package, until my dad called and they said that was a mistake on their part. They also forgot I had paid for the rehearsal space and I had to remind them. The chairs and tables (they set up) were squished up near the front of the barn and I had to move all the tables back for more room which was time consuming (they set up tables according to your specifications, but it was not like the picture I drew) 3.)The fridges are full of old food which is good or bad depending on who you are, but I would have preferred it empty since how do you know how old that stuff is in there? 4.) THE AC UNITS!!! OMG. They are so loud and the house was SOOOOOO hot. 5.) The barn port-a-potty(ies); I'm not sure we had more than one in operation, I specifically remembered 2 when I visited and it was much larger with 2 stalls, then on my wedding day I only remember seeing one and it was small. I would rate this venue a 3-4/5 based on my experience there, I expected more hospitality. At the end of the day, I felt like we were not super welcome there, more of a nuisance to them. No one really talked to us, or asked us how we were doing during an obviously stressful weekend where all of my plans were literally drowning with the rain. I just expected a little more kindness or at least one conversation with the people who lived there. If you like to be left completely alone, then I'm sure this won't bother you.

Beautiful historic mansion! Very well restored and appointed with period pieces! I stayed two…read morenights in the Lincoln bedroom and felt well rested each morning. Hostess was very hospitable and the price per night was a surprise! One would get much more here than at a chain hotel/motel. There was a delicious selection of breakfast sweets and the refrigerator was well stocked with a variety of drinks and odd and ends! Large kitchen and wonderful solans that may be used for receptions or just an evening of after dinner drinks. So happy that this great house has been preserved and open to clients!!!
