The staff is very friendly and the price can't be beat. I mean really, you won't find a cheaper place to stay in the area. It seemed secure enough and there was a refrigerator to keep drinks and snacks cool with. That's a real plus on a long stay. I would say that the staff works hard to make the rooms clean and presentable. The place could use renovations like new windows and carpets, but for what they charge and the good service they provide, I'm a fan of this little hotel. I stayed here because my boss likes to save money, but I'd stay there again of my own accord. Nice folks and reasonable accommodations. I could have stayed somewhere else for 100 bucks more per night, but I'm not really into paying that much extra for a stale breakfast, newer bedding, and a cookie on my bed. I prefer a place like this that is fairly priced, efficient, friendly, and not pompous. Also, they have smoking rooms and I bet they'll let pets stay too. There may be an extra fee though.

Even though it feels very remote, the grocery store is only 2 miles away. A fireplace on each level and updated appliances make it very inviting. There was more then enough wood stockpiled for us. Its pricey but can easily accommodate multiple families to make the cost reasonable. There is a ping pong table in the basement and my only suggestion would be to add a pinball machine and/or arcade style game. We went to nearby Hawn's Overlook of Raystown lake. Absolutely beautiful. We hope to make Bear's Paw Lodge a pre-christmas tradition. Though I can see this place growing in popularity.

Plenty of parking and easy to find. Close to the train - it came by a couple times (while we were awake) didn't notice when sleeping. They do provide ear plugs if you are super sensitive - they were right by the bedside we didn't use them. Beds were good - not great. Pillows a little thin, again - good not great. They are pet friendly and they are Non-Smoking. Both of which we appreciated. I did not bring my pup - but it appears it was $10 extra a night. They offer breakfast but only on the weekend (stay away from TOPS DINER). My only real complaint - the room smelled a little musty. Not terrible just noticeable enough when we first walked in. Turned on the room ac/heat unit and got the air moving and it wasn't too bad. This appears to be a Mom-n-Pop place. If you needed ice - walk to the lobby and get baggies of ice from the front desk clerk. For the price this place was perfect. It was super clean and spacious and served our needs for one night. It also had small refrigerator (though it wasn't plugged in so we couldn't have used it right away) and a microwave. Also in the room: large screen tv, alarm clock, padded hangers and luggage rack. I would use again if in the area.
