We were faced with an emergency while in Prescott this past Labor Day. Our recently rescued…read more3-year-old Czech shepherd, Marcus, suddenly developed bloody loose stools and vomiting. Fearing an intestinal blockage, we searched for a veterinary practice that was open. As the Prescott Area Pet Emergency Hospital had closed effective 6/15/20, we brought him Chino Valley Animal Hospital. Enter our guardian angel, office manager, 15-year employee and obviously dedicated animal lover, Renee. When a "meatball" laced with Acepromazine failed to adequately sedate him, Renee calmly and patiently sat with me and a crated Marcus, and over the space of more than 20 minutes and 3 syringes administered on on a pole through the slots in the crate, she was ultimately successful in getting Marcus sedated enough to be examined. Fortunately, X-rays revealed no blockage (though he ultimately expelled a number of plum pits from the tree on our property that no doubt irritated his intestinal tract) but Marcus was dehydrated from the vomiting and diarrhea and we wanted to be sure he was fully stabilized and hydrated before bringing him home. Renee stepped up again and agreed to care for our dog personally. She updated us on his condition later that day and informed us again the next day when it was deemed he had recovered enough to go home safely. Marcus is fully recovered. So grateful!

Although there was supposed to be a previously arranged accommodation, when an emergency came up they stopped that arrangement as I was about to come in and did not even realize they needed to have a back up accommodation so as not to put the person [me] in danger. Instead they wanted me to wait in an area potentially lethal to me. That is lack of staff education to read the client's file and know what is going on. Expecting a disabled person to wait in a dangerous situation while they figure out their incompetence is not acceptable. disability discrimination bigotry. worse yet the so-called manager denied the existence of the disability [respiratory triggered by chemicals they use] claiming there were no chemicals in the air [chemical wipes? air fresheners? plug-in type air treatment? chemical closet odors adjacent to the lobby?], retaliated over my protests trying to explain while adversely triggered by threatening to call the police and refusing future service. Disability discrimination big time. Had they accommodated instead of saying I needed to wait in a dangerous [to me] area, none of this nastiness would have happened. They were not even aware of the need to accommodate despite prior arrangement to do so! SO beware!

Except for an overnighter once when a friend came in to look after her, we have never been away for more than a few hours. We had a four-day trip to Vegas planned to meet up with cousins from Canada. We were at a loss to know what to do with Charli, fearing kenneling would bring up the trauma of her having been put up for adoption - twice. Then we ran across Bow Wow and Meow on NextDoor. Are we ever glad we did! Robin and Kimberly made advance visits to meet Charli, check out her routine and talk to us. It is obvious what dog lovers they both are. We arranged for Robin to do sleepovers including meals and Kimberly to come mid-days for wellness checks, companionship and "walkies". What a fabulous experience!! Both of them sent us text updates with photos, which really made us feel great knowing how well Charli was reacting. We now refer to Robin and Kimberly as Charli's "Aunties". Their pricing is very reasonable. Communication was like you have with an old friend. Charli's daily meds routine was easily handled. And they are both 'dog people extraordinaire". We returned home today (June 23rd) to a very happy and relaxed Charli. And as further proof of how great the experience was, since we got home Charli has made a few visits to the guest bedroom with a "Where's Auntie Robin?" look on her face. You absolutely can trust these folks to look after your fur-baby while you're away! Our experience could not have been better!

We did no cancer treatments since it would not have been good for her physically other than giving her some pain meds........ Early one morning last July 2025 she unusually woke me up early and wanted to go outside and she just watched birds and nature for about an hour before she looked at me and I could feel in her face and eyes she was telling me it was time for her to leave us...... I called Shawna at Circle L Animal Hospital and asked if the vet could come to my vehicle and Shawna said "Of Course" and for me to call when we arrived... I parked as directed at the private door and Shawna came out immediately and talked with Patti for about 5 minutes and I could see that Patti bonded with her and then the vet came to Patti's passenger side of the vehicle... The Vet gave Patti a shot to tranquilize and immediately another shot for sleep .... Patti was gone almost immediately ..... It is never easy losing a pet but Circle L personnel treated Patti like their own and made a very difficult day as positive as possible...... I think it is important to know my experience with Circle L when you may have to make that very difficult choice.....
