Had an appointment with Danny had to move it and went with Mustafa who was open. The process was easy enough. Upon check out they asked why I booked my cut and shave the way I did... better question is why is so had to book a a cut and shave the way you want. To many mixed up options to cross the streams. "Menu" needs to be redone with better descriptions. Mustafa's hair cut was fine ish...but he did not deliver anything I was looking for on beard despite explicit directions. He just did not, nor did he pay attention on clean up .... Stubble above and below where he worked. This did not live up to hype.... This is so far off the rave reviews. Not even close. I've never once had to argue with a barber that the haircut was uneven and get the excuse that my head is shaped like an egg so a day later I wake up and the sides are all pointing out everywhere so no, I'm not gonna be coming back in at $40 haircut it's quite expensive so now I have to go somewhere else and fix the fading because it looks horrible and I told him I wanted it shorter on the sides and he still didn't listen to me so what am I supposed to do other than just say OK fine whatever and then leave so annoyed at this haircut that I have to go back somewhere else spend more money and get it fixed read more

What's fascinating about New York City is that even post pandemic, there are still hundreds of barbershops charging lots of money for haircuts and beard trimming as well as all kinds of additional services that are keeping their customers looking well groomed . However, if you are looking for a great barbershop and don't want to spend a fortune, you might be startled at how few really gifted barbers are willing to charge a reasonable price. I was about to give up in my quest for a reasonably priced haircut until today, when I saw the price list at ELITE BARBERS on Lexington Avenue between 63rd & 64th Streets. Not only were their prices reasonable, they also offer a senior citizen discount every day! I spoke with Alec, the owner and was impressed when he assured me that the senior citizen haircut would be perfect for me and he was right. In fact by the time he was done working his magic, I looked snd felt ten years younger! Elite Barbers is not a hangout for old guys! In fact the mean ages were closer to the mid thirties and I noticed a very savvy teenager getting a cool looking trim! In addition to get prices, i was given a card with a stamp for my first " cut"! After ten haircuts, the next one is on the house! I was blown away and now I'm thrilled to have a great barbershop to keep me looking great! They are closed on Saturdays but open, conveniently, on Sundays. Super clean fade and they know what will or won't work for a particular style. Seriously go to them. Needed a last minute cut and my usual barber was out of town. Came in as a walk in and was immediately seated for a cut. The staff is all friendly, seems family owned. My barber (middle aged woman) was very responsive to the type of haircut I was requesting. I think she struggled a little though because her ?son stepped in who I think is the owner to finish the rest of the cut. Overall really happy with how it turned out. read more

Went in and had an appointment with the older guy in the back. I paid for a clipper cut and he used a trimmer nearly the entire time. The beard trim and shaping was a nightmare. I grew my beard out for a year, really taking care it. I asked for about 1/4 inch to be taken off and for a more squared up beard shape. He took 2 1/2 inches off and made it more rounded. If he didn't know how to do it he should have declined. 9 months of my time and care destroyed in 10 minutes. read more

Super disappointed with this place. I went in for a fade and beard trim with Danny. One of the first things he asked me was "what's your ethnicity?" Ok.... I told him I didn't want any length off the top of my hair. I have an under-cut and I style my hair in a pompadour. He took the fade way too high and so he started taking length off the top back of my hair. I tried to stop him but it was too late. He told me he had to "fade it somehow". He also dropped a brush while cutting my hair and continued to use it. He just sprayed with something I assume to disinfect it? That's still pretty gross though. He should've grabbed a clean brush. Then he moved on the beard. He took a razor to my dry cheeks. No cream or gel. It was super uncomfortable. He didn't shape my mustache at all. Just trimmed it. Then I told him to even out the back corner of my fade because one side was obviously longer than the other. He tells me "it's a process we have to communicate" I mean there's literally no attention to detail. He still charged me for a full haircut. Even though it was just a fade and he screwed it up. I confirmed with him if it was really $30.00 for the fade and he said "yeah I don't make up the prices" So rude. So unprofessional. read more

I booked this place as I had a last minute event to attend and I am from out of town and my normal NYC barber was booked. I was paired with the older gentleman.The overall haircut was fine. I asked for a fade; I wanted there to be a little more hair on the top. He needed to be coached to actually shape my head. It also seemed bald all around. The clippers he used for the back of my head were to aggressive and possibly not sanitized properly as after this haircut I developed the worst bumps. I have never had this happen before in my life. So I was looking for a new barber.....read up on this place......it seemed to be legit. So I walked over from my gym to set up an appointment. The Barbers were cold and uninviting. After stand there for about 10 min. One of them decided to ask me" when did I wanted to come in and what time. " Since this was my first time I wasn't sure which barber to use. So they went back-and-forth between who was going to cut my haircut on which day. They didn't ask me what type of haircut I wanted or any other needs. Absolute PATHETIC excuse for a barbershop. All I wanted was a low skin fade, not even a full haircut, and it was BUTCHERED. The fade was much higher than I wanted it to be, it wasn't blended at all, and wasn't even on either side! Another barber there had to literally do it all over to clean up his mistakes the best he could. By far the worst haircut experience of my adult life. First off as soon as I walked in I got looks and immediately felt like I was being judged. Next came the sneers. Was in dire need of a haircut - it had been since mid-February. My normal barber hasn't opened yet, so so found Elite Barbers and was a bit apprehensive about going between Covid and a new barber. They did a phenomenal job. The store is clean and safe, with the employees wearing masks the whole time and even being extra cautious about touching me, asking me to adjust my mask as they cut around my ears, etc. Nick also did a spectacular job with my hair - my girlfriend said it's the best my hair has looked our two years of dating, and I'd agree. This is my first visit to see Slava at his new location. The original location is so successful he needed the additional space to accommodate all the clients he has built up over the years. I am happy the new location is only a block away and now has 8 chairs. The hair cutting is the same: perfect every time for me. It's why I keep coming back even though I live in Florida! On a Sunday, several weeks ago, I was reluctantly scrambling to find a skilled barber for my little brothers' out of control wig. Yes, of course I have a steady barber but he does NOT work on Sundays. I noticed Elite Barbers had great reviews and they were actually open! I figured my brother is 9 yrs old he could afford to fall on the sword to test this barber, Slava. Slava is not only a talented barber but he has a personality. We requested a low fade comb over but Slava kindly pointed out that he wouldn't be able to properly cut the top due to how his hair was previously cut but he accomodated us as much as possible. The fade was impeccable! He left no visible lines in the fade which I have personally been a victim of from various other barbers. Today, MLK Day I intended to get a haircut from my usual barber but of course the Princess is not working. -_- I will attend a Broadway Show this evening and I want to look sharp. The only other trustworthy barber that came to mind was Slava. So I travelled from Jamaica Queens to have Slava cut my hair. I showed him a picture of the style I would like an he cut away. He even suggested an alternate style for my hair. That is something so helpful as a woman getting male hairstyles. I took a red eye into JFK airport from San Francisco. Left work late and has no time for a haircut before my flight. Being my only day off before New Years.. I needed a haircut in a city I've only explored once. Needing to find a Barber open early, yelp sorted this place in Manhattan. Great reviews, good price and a shampoo! Shampoo is crucial after sleeping on an airplane. At 10am they had plenty of staff for a Saturday Morning and no wait. I enjoyed a nice warm shampoo and massage before my haircut. My barber was from Russia, enjoys fine watches and was very attentive to detail. 15 minutes later after some light conversation, a straight razor to the back of my neck and a hot towel I was ready to go. Place is super clean, well lit, and staff more than friendly. I know where I'm going if I come to party in NYC for a weekend and need a haircut. read more
