I also stopped by the shop and asked to talk to him (he was not there). He has offered to fire the person and/or compensate me with $60 + a free haircut if I change the review (photos attached). Giving me a bald spot for fun is way too unprofessional for me to consider changing the review. I have offered to point out the guy to Arthur, but I am not asking for the guy to be fired. One of these guys gave me a bald spot because he thought it was funny. He thought I didn't notice and gave me a fist bump with a slight smirk on his face after the haircut. After the haircut my girlfriend told me I was balding, and I instantly realized what happened. The hair grew back to normal in a few weeks. At least one of the guys working here is an unprofessional jerk, so l'd recommend going somewhere else.

She gave me an awesome haircut and also trimmed my beard so that I can attend the wedding reception with the best looks! She is very good at what she does and more importantly extremely nice and kind person. Once you interact with her you know how much she loves her job and cares for her customers. One tip to add: If you are visiting for the first time, you may have trouble locating the salon. It's right next to De Janeiro. You have to find a small door on the right side (facing De Janeiro) and then take the elevator to 17th Floor. Tina's Salon is in Suite 1702.

But most of those glowing reviews are pre-covid. I don't know if a lot of their stylists left but there's a notable lack of reviews post-covid. They're kind and the space feels lux and quiet. Problem is communication, went multiple times feeling very whelmed and changed stylist every time. After my third time I think I'm done, I've shown pictures and discussed with them what I wanted but they can never seem to get it right. Instead they default to a generic taper short off the sides and medium top cut, but then why tell me you can do the cut or even have experience with it? Is it my head shape? Face? Am I too ugly? Communicate that to me before you decide to just ignore the conversation we had and just free style. It's frustrating because I am growing out my hair for this cut and they do what they want. I don't want to be rude and stop you mid cut but then why am I paying so much just to be left unsatisfied? Most of the men leaving the place have the same exact cut. Anything longer than a short to medium cut is a no go, those cuts look clean and nice. Kept going in with shoulder length wavy hair just to get butchered every time.

One jackass who charges $100 for a haircut talked about how a real barber (such as himself of course) only does 4 haircuts an hour. Really 4 haircuts an hour? That's 15 minutes each, which after getting in and out of the chair and prepping and combing equals about 10 minutes. You might as well go to supercuts to get that sort of crap haircut. Which brings me to Jerry's! If you are in the city and want to spend 1/3 of what some hipster doofus barber will charge you then check out Jerry's! I used to go to Jerry's consistently when I first started working in midtown but started going to a place in jersey near where I lived at the time, though I still pop over once in a while. If you are in midtown and want a good haircut, this is the place (great if you work in midtown and the boss is giving you crap about your shaggy hair). Mostly older barbers who can do a variety of styles (though I doubt they do shaggy hipster/bieber cuts).They give a very thorough, careful haircut. Usually lasts at least 25 minutes, since they actually take their time and go over it more than once to make sure it is perfect. It is pricey around $30ish I believe, but hey, its in midtown. And of course they use a straight razor, and less importantly but still really cool, they have an ancient hand cranked hot towel machine! P.S. Its very difficult to find (buried in the basement) so ask for directions at one of the rock center info desks located at each entrance.

I highly recommend "Sher" from Level Two Barbershop; he did excellent work. Yesterday afternoon (Saturday June 30th) I walked into this small Barber Shop (3 Barbers only) and took a seat as I waited for availability. As I watched the Barbers I was especially impressed by the level of attention to detail he, Sher, was putting into the client whose hair he was cutting with comb and scissor and I thought to myself "That's how I want my hair to be treated." As soon as a barber finished and called for the next person it was my turn, but instead I let someone else go ahead because I had already made up my mind I would wait for Sher. My turn came. Right away I told him what I wanted and how I expected to walk out of their. (I'm very picky) 100% scissor and comb work only please. (Except for clippers where absolutely necessary such as cleaning up sideburns and back of neck) It was a hot day so I was in a T Shirt but for this hair cut I actually brought with me a white dress shirt I use at work, put it on, to make clear that to Sher how I wanted to back to end up relative to my shirt collar. (Yeah I know maybe to specific). Right away Sher got to work. He was very attentive to me and my hair. Wetting the hair just enough to make it more manageable as I had some gel in my hair. Partitioning my hair with clips as he got to work. (I was reducing volume on the sides and back while keeping length on the top). He explained what he was going to do and why and waited for my OK. He ended with a hot towel around the back of my neck ( I did not need a shave today) followed by a 1 minute massage of my shoulders with a tool that looks similar to the "Oster Stim U Lax Massager." The end results was better than I imagined, better than I demanded. I felt like a new person walking out of there. I have very happy. Thank you Sher. read more

I've been to this barbershop for about 6 months now. I have tested 5 barbers at this establishment, and so I feel comfortable in recommending this barbershop. As an employee in the NYC nightlife and hospitality, I need to always look my best. I think I've found my long term barbershop in Level Two. The space is small but neat, and the staff is cordial. They have a small selection of products, but it covers most of your needs. I've found that each of these barbers has their own style, so you might need to play around to find which one of them specifically fits your exact needs. Some of them were more aggressive with a fade, techniques with blending were different, as well as time to complete a haircut might vary as much as 10 minutes. I think I've settled with Sher, but my brothers and cousins have their own opinions on their favorite barber in the shop. The price is reasonable at $23 for a standard haircut. The only thing I can say about my review is that I can't speak to their ability to handle a high volume. Working nights and weekends allows me to stroll into the barbershop at off times, specifically when everyone else is at their 9-5. (My haircut is an aggressive fade on the back and sides. Starting down at a 1, fade up to a 2. The top is cut about 2-2.5 inches in length, combed to the side and a little back. I had Sher shave my hair part to let it stand out a bit more, and he texturized the top as well) read more

What I'll be rating is my experience at this place. Granted this was my first hair cut in new york I was taken care of by Sher, and went in with my hair much longer than normal. I showed him a pic of what my hair looks like (at its best haha). I actually wasn't sure on how short I wanted the cut to be. Sher had no problems doing a first cut for me on length 1, right round, and said if I wanted it shorter he'd do another cut for me on a shorter length. And my hair cuts are never standard, though he aced the shape, job we'll done. Once he was done I actually did realise that I wanted it even shorter and he was happy to do so. The hot towel over my neck once done was welcomed, and the wash and set was perfect. It usually takes a lot of explaining for me to get my hair cut the way I like it, but I didn't have to intervene at all, so for me, the experience was worth 5 stars. Look, this isn't some grand fancy salon with sparkling basins and finishes, but I don't care about that stuff anyway. For neighbourhood barbers, these guys are excellent. read more

Last week, I went to level two barber shop for the first time. Sher cut my hair quickly and deftly with a combination of scissors and electric razor. He followed my instructions precisely while still making helpful suggestions and minor adjustments which improved the overall look and feel of the cut. I walked out with one of the best haircuts of my life. A week later, my hair still looks great. Everything has been growing back evenly, and there are no areas in which he missed strands of hair. More than being just a great barber, Sher is genuinely concerned with the comfort and satisfaction of his customers. I have particularly thick hair, and every time I've had a cut in the past I've needed to shower immediately afterwards. That was not the case here - Sher made sure to take care of all the clippings. Overall I was, and remain, thoroughly impressed and plan on returning regularly. read more

I have been going to this barber shop consistently for the past 3 years. The quality of my haircut has not changed one bit. I always have Boris or Sher cut my hair. Time in the chair is always good. Not too long nor do they ever rush, regardless of how many people are waiting for a cut. My two roommates could not find a barber shop they liked. Once they visited Level Two, they have not gone anywhere else. My two roommates and I all have different types of hair and we get different cuts. Level Two never fails to disappoint us. Everybody there is friendly and personable. They cut your hair the way you want it. Prices are fair, if not below average, for Manhattan. I will be a customer for as long as I live in the city. read more

I've been coming to this barber shop for almost a year now and I leave happy every single time. My guy, Sher, is amazing and does a phenomenal job every time i go, but he's currently on vacation. So, i've been going with the shop owner, Boris, while he's been gone. Getting straight to the point, YOU CANT GO WRONG WITH THIS BARBER SHOP! Boris does an amazing job picking up right where Sher left off. These two are the best barbers i've ever been to and they work right next to each other. It's like the Golden State Warriors of barbershops, it's not even fair to the other shops in the vicinity. disclaimer* i'm a diehard Knicks fan. I just move with my family to upper east side from Arizona. My barber there was russian and he was good, I was his client for many years... My wife took two of my sons to this place on second ave between 77 and 78 street, my kids hair cuts make the look like professional models. She also got a haircut for herself and she loved it so much that I decided to try it as well. I am very picky and it has been hard for me to find a good barber sinced i moved to ny but I have receivedso many compliments in my haircut that i am definitely sticking with this barber in the future. Went in today for the first time and had an haircut with Boris. I was skeptical just because I've always been at those fancy $80-$100 salons. Boris' shop is unpretentious, no frills, the haircut is $25 and you won't get water or a "free" glass of scotch or a head massage with all that scented stuff on your head. Here you will get your hair cut. That's it. And the execution will be the same and probably better than most of the expensive salons out there for one simple reason: This guy has got cutting skills and detailed execution. Level Two Barbershop is definitely the best, most consistent barbershop I've been to. Of course I have a favorite couple of barbers at Level Two, but I've had my hair cut by everyone that works there and I'm never short of impressed with the results. I think there's a lot to be said for that! If you're looking for a new barber or maybe you just want to switch things up I highly recommend giving Level Two a shot. If you're the kind of person who has a number of things they expect from the guy who cuts their hair; if you like your barber to be an expert with the scissors; if you're tired of ordering a haircut by numbers; if you want the barber to listen to what you want, and might wish him to also offer objective, professional advice; if you want your time on the chair to be punctuated by just the right amount of conversation, or simply prefer silence; if you want to be treated like an old customer from your very first walk in; and if you live somewhere on the Q line, look no further. I think Boris may have just saved my wedding by fixing my hair. Two weeks before my wedding I made the mistake of going to Supercuts (I know), as you might expect they massacred my head. A few days later, in a panic I went on Yelp and found Level Two Barber shop and gave it a shot with 4 days til the wedding. Boris saved me, he fixed all of the patches and uneven work that Supercuts had created and I now have the best haircut I can remember. Boris is the only person on the island of Manhattan that can take sharp objects to my head. He does for my hair what Edward Scissorhands did for the bushes at his house. He is friendly, respectful, and can carry on a conversation while giving you one of the greatest 20 minutes of your week. He has a great memory and follows up on conversations you and he had the time previous. I've been here three times now, and have received a fantastic haircut each time. I always come in with some idea of what I want my haircut to look like (with a picture, usually), and the barbers at Level Two have been able to run with that and tailor the style to what works for my hair. My style is usually a fade on the sides and back and longer on the top, but I've seen other customers with plenty of other hairstyles. It gets busy at times, but the wait's never been too long for me. Besides, it's worth it for a great haircut! read more

Been going to Level 2 for half a year now since I moved to NYC. First barbershop of 5 I've tried in the city that has the right aesthetic and understanding. The guys are cool and great at their craft. Ambience is original. The stylists as exceptional. Prices are right. The five-star rating here on Yelp does not lie! I went based on the positive reviews that this place had and I wasn't disappointed. This was my first time growing out my hair in almost a decade (usually buzz it), so I wasn't exactly sure what to do with it. Sher was patient and friendly. I saw Sher for my cut after a very short wait and was very pleased by the experience and results and felt great about the price. I felt we communicated well, he was happy to look at photos I had, he ran suggestions by me to achieve what I had in mind, and he was mindful in general. And I think my cut looks great, stylish while still being short and manageable. I was especially impressed by how he was able to cut the hair to transform the texture into something softer. After about two years with no trim, I came in looking like a grizzled Jon Snow, and was graciously ushered into the chair by Sher, who was excited to give me a new look. He chopped me down to something real clean and sophisticated, and I absolutely love it! This place has a great atmosphere and the barbers are true masters of their craft. My boyfriend goes here once every week or two to get his beard maintained and his hair cut. I have to say, they give a great shave here! My boyfriend has a pretty full beard and they shape it perfectly. He always looks so handsome coming from level two! This is the place for everyone to go to! Moving here 5 years ago I was nervous about finding a good place to get my haircut for reasonable price. I found Level 2 on Yelp 4.5 years ago and haven't let anyone else touch my hair. Boris is always willing to fit you in on those busy nights and has a great rapport with everyone that comes in to the shop. And my friend, Richard was right! While I did not have an appointment, I was fortunate that Benny was available because he did an absolutely phenomenal job trimming my beard. Before writing my review, i read some of tho other comments and I was surprised by some negative comments. Personally speaking, i cannot recall ever having such an extraordinary experience where Benny used not one but two hot towels as he shaved and trimmed my beard. While i went with the intention of just dealing with my unkempt beard, i was so delighted by Benny's handiwork, I asked if he should cut my hair? To my surprise he declined saying I really could wait a month! This really impressed me, since i was prepared to spend more money since iI was loving being pampered! It's worth a visit just to experience where Im sure many movies have been filmed and to read all the inscriptions from famous actors and celebrities, and just being a customer, you'll feel like one too!
