Before starting this treatment, my vision was so bad that I felt limited in a lot of things. I always had to wear glasses, and they often got in the way of the activities I love. I practice Jiu-Jitsu, ride my bike, go to the beach, and enjoy being active, but glasses made many of those things harder. Today, things are completely different. Thanks to Ortho-K lenses, both Devin and I can see clearly during the day without glasses. It may sound simple, but for us it has been life-changing. He was a tech at Bascom Palmer and experienced the most challenging eye problems in America before pursuing his education in optometry at Nova Southeastern University. Now he has his own practice at Coral Way and 17th Avenue. When I called to schedule three appointments they were able to get us all in on as Saturday morning. When we arrived they had us fill out a quick questionnaire. The optometrist was ready right away and let all three of us sit in on each other's exams. It was great to have the whole family in the room so we could recollect family eye issues and keep our ocular histories straight. Each exam was a full 45 minutes. He was super thorough and spent a lot of time tweaking our prescriptions with the giant lens machine. My wife has a horrible prescription and has been with an astigmatism (seven diopters) and far sightedness since 1st grade. She was plagued by Coke bottle type giant glasses as a child and wants to try contact lenses. He explained how her eyes are like a football, not a basketball so contacts will move around and be challenging. I blame my mother in law. Well, I pretty much blame her for everything anyway... His equipment was modern and the office is very organized and clean. His staff is totally bilingual and very friendly.
