I am sure they are lovely. I am writing this review as someone who performed a wedding ceremony here, drank some wine, and ate some food. With that in mind, we are gathered here today to write this review. The Truss Room is named after the large trussed roof. At least that is what I guessed based on the name and the view of the roof. It is one large room that had the venue/reception area on one side and the bar/food area on the other. The wedding had around 150 guests (I am guessing). There was ample food and drinks for everyone. As an officiant, the acoustics were great but I am a loud dude so if you are a whisperer, get you a microphone. The food was very good and people seemed happy. The wine was also good and people seemed to enjoy it. PS. I wonder if Yelp will allow me to add Reverand to my name.

The place is constructed of exclusively wood, exposed brick & old sheet metal. It had an immediate charm about it for sure and overall would be a great place for an event. We parked in the large lot on the same plot as the building. My first reaction to the place was how cool and aesthetically pleasing it is - especially for the little neighborhood it's in:/ They've got a relatively large, healthy lawn in the back with the the little bulb lights that everybody likes. There was also a stage out back but it wasn't being used when I was there. From the parking lot you take a few steps up to the floor level of the wrap around porch. As you actually enter the building you enter into the smaller of the two main chambers. There will be a bar to your immediate right and the larger, stage room to our left. Naturally there was a band playing in the larger, banquet style room. As mentioned it had a stage on the far end and also a bar with plenty of open space for seating/dancing/tom-foolery. On a quick side note, the bar had a quite expansive and modestly priced assortment of your typical offerings. I will say the bartender I had knew nothing about the local beer much less helpful wine and spirit suggestions - he was friendly though :) Another quick side note, the caterer, The Habana Club, was EXCELLENT and offered extremely delicious and authentic Cuban fare. DEFINTELY check them up if you're in the area and into that sort of thing. TL;DR Definitely worth using for a private party or trying to get into the next local event they're hosting. Adopted Dog is dog focused and makes solid beer with good food. If you don't like beer, you can still eat good food in a good atmosphere. If you don't like beer and don't like dogs, you may be out of luck. The beer. I have only been here a couple of times so I have not ventured too far into their beer offerings. I have had three different styles and all ranged from good to very good. The food. Cheese curds - get the sampler platter. Three different types of cheese curds that are lightly fried and totally good. Who knew fried cheese curds could be delicious? I guess the Wisconsin people and Canadians but now you know too. Brussel sprouts - Just get them. Crispy and tasty is all you need to know. Smash burger - If you like smash burgers, you will like this one. I don't (i prefer a thick patty), so it was fine, but again, not my preference. The outside area is very cool. While there are long tables, games, and TVs, there are also Adirondack chairs. Sitting in those, drinking a beer, and feeling the breeze transports you elsewhere. It is the spot to be. Check out Adopted Dog. You will bee glad you did.

Vermilionville, however, stood out as one of the best, and is a memory I'll hang onto for a while. The attendants in period garb were friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to answer our questions. The woman with her spinning wheel even gave us a demonstration. She had taught herself to spin whilst working there and explained the excessive amount of hours it took to finish even one sweater. She also made it possible for me to try the bread pudding I'd been eyeing on the restaurant menu; she warned me they were closing in just 15 minutes so we rushed over and put our order in. Now, I'm not sure if their restaurant has its own yelp page so I'll just review it here. That pudding was the most delicious, most perfect bread pudding I've ever had, and I've tried quite a lot from some of the best places in NOLA. The top was crisply caramelized, and the center was a buttery custard infused with vanilla and cinnamon--an aromatic taste sensation. The server brought me two containers to go (an extra as I'd only asked for one!) and I was so excited to try it, I devoured the first one while wandering between the houses. There were some rather beautiful little homes, furnished with accurate historic decor, and I appreciated that we were able to look at things on our own, at our own pace, free from having to follow a guide. We visited on a day it was set to storm, but we were able to see most of the buildings before the sky opened up on us. We foolishly forgot to bring umbrellas of any kind, so we ended up darting between structures, and eventually taking refuge in the old church while the worst of the rain passed. It was atmospheric and memorable. We found some charming animals in a little barn--a donkey and two sheep and we said hello. There were even mushrooms, and among them we found a single chanterelle, so keep an eye out, fellow mushroom hunters! Lastly, you must leave adequate time to check out the gift shop. They have something for everyone, and much of it made by local artisans! I would recommend Vermilionville to anyone with an appreciation for southern history.

The etouffee arrived in a cup with great flavor and plenty of crawfish (which I forgot to take a picture of). The etouffee menu item comes with a choice of 2 proteins, we selected shrimp and fish. The picture was after we ate half, so you get plenty of food. Every thing we ordered was perfectly seasoned. The bread pudding with praline sauce was wonderful (also not pictured). Everyone was uncomfortable and had horrible stories to say about Beth's behavior. I strongly believe it was due to discrimination. I have proof of everything I am stating. An example; As I was preparing dishes, Beth grabbed a piece of bacon out of a wrapped pan without my permission. The sense of empowerment and entitlement allowed her to perform in these ways. I tried to book tickets but found that the website said "sales ended." It may be a long shot, but I gave them a call to see if I could get tickets. By this point, it was 4pm the day before the show. Daisy answered the phone and told me there were still a few seats and actually opened the sales so I could purchase tickets. That was impressive to me. We got there early and were welcomed warmly by costumed employees. The actors were already in character. The bartender went above and beyond to keep us happy, even recommending a place within walking distance where we could continue the evening after the show. The decor was very nice. We didn't figure out whodunnit (the team who did got cool prizes) but really had a great evening and would definitely recommend the facility and the murder mystery to anyone looking for a fun evening.
