Suncrest Hospice blocked my phone number, effectively avoiding accountability for their corrupt administration. I want to clarify that my concerns are not about the nurses or CNAs; it is the administration that is entirely corrupt. I urge everyone to request their medical records and read every detail carefully. The lies, misinformation, immaturity, and irresponsible behavior I encountered were unacceptable. I am a 58-year-old daughter who lost my mom, and instead of offering support, they made my grief and panic even worse. I do not recommend this organization because of the administration--particularly people like Timothy Dance--not because of the dedicated nurses and CNAs involved in my mom's care.

They were the only ones who truly heard me and my sister who made us feel seen, supported, and special during the hardest time of our lives. David Cheesman, the nurse practitioner aka Dr. Dave , was incredible. Jessica, Lisa Avers, and Sherry, every single one of them treated my mom with such love & dignity. They walked beside us through the worst of it and gave my mom the most peaceful, comfortable final days we could have hoped for. The entire Suncrest Hospice team even called us after Mom went to heaven to check in on us and make sure our kids were ok. Sadly, I also have to share that our experience with Journey Care (under its new ownership) was incredibly difficult. We were not listened to, not believed, and felt completely unseen which led us to make a HORRIFIC transfer to Suncrest just five days before she passed. We had to go to upper management of Journey Care and file all of our complaints to have everything investigated, but we never heard back from any of them after they found out Mom had passed away. That definitely shows their true colors. But as hard as that was, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Suncrest came in and truly saved the day. They brought peace to chaos, comfort to pain, they honored my mom in her final moments. We will never forget that. Thank you, Suncrest, from the bottom of our hearts. & shame on Journey Care! Please remember that most hospitals will automatically refer to Journey Care, but you have a voice, and you can intervene to request any Hospice you wish & our family would highly recommend Suncrest. We're hoping this post could help others in similar situations in the future so they are saved from the disappointments of new management of Journey Care & helped by Suncrest!

"Getting old is hell," so sayeth my elderly relative…read more They speaketh the truth and it is hell also on the family. Consider, then, that an assisted living facility may be a purgatory of sorts. Arbor Terrace is a beautiful place for your loved ones. It's like a cruise ship or resort. The apartments are small and contain a kitchenette (no stove), sitting area, separate bedroom and bathroom and large closets. There is a cleaning and laundry service, meals are included, and activities and special events are taking place all the time. The public areas are lovely and up-to-date, and I really admire the decor. There's a salon, a coffee bar, a bar, a workout area, a game room, an outdoor patio. The staff is friendly and engaging. My relatives had been living on their own in an apartment, not really thriving, and now they are like the Prom King and Queen of the senior set. Their mood has certainly improved. I think the constant activity (games, baking, art, musical performances, special events, celebrations) has filled up their lives. It's also a comfort to know that their medications are being administered, they eat at every meal, and they are monitored for their safety. (Have you ever tried to locate a person by tracking their phone? Or not been able to reach them by phone?) The downside to all this: it's hellish expensive (all of these assisted living facilities are). Do your research and look around, and consider the Medicaid alternatives. It's never an easy decision when your loved ones can no longer live on their own. For the time being, my relatives are pretty comfortable here. They are also mobile, so they are fairly unrestricted in what they can do, where they can go. The lesson here? Save for retirement, people!

Several months ago I'd grown increasingly worried about my mom's safety at home. The day we were to…read morediscuss assisted living with her doctor, I found myself calling 911 and sending her to the hospital for what would be 51 days, sepsis, 2 surgeries & 2 rehab stints. Having her return home was no longer an option; which led me to quickly get to up to speed on senior living options, mostly on my own. I found her a place & moved her in all before her release. While I ensured her safety, I second guessed my decisions as she vocally struggled to adjust; it was a lot of change particularly for someone who rarely left her home. Almost 6 months in, a different set of doubts & worries took over. Did I make the right call, could she live somewhere more affordable, would she outlive her money, etc. I don't even recall what search term led me to Senior Living Experts, but I'm grateful. Rebecca listened to my story and made me feel less alone. She thought where my mom was at was the best option in terms of cost, desired location and care needs addressed, but would do the research and circle back. We also discussed the care she received currently and provided a few suggestions. As promised, Rebecca followed up and confirmed her initial assessment. Yes, I'll still worry about her finances, but I now have a better understanding of the landscape and what comes should her care needs increase. If I had a do over, I would have started with Senior Living Experts, they are amazing!

Kerry asked a lot of questions to help narrow down our options. She recommended several places to help us determine what size/feel would work best for our situation. My father-in-law is happy with his new home and we appreciate Kerry's help.

Because the care and programming and staff are so family- and patient-centered, my brothers and sister and I have a kind of peace of mind and heart we never thought possible. All I can say is thank heavens they bought long-term care insurance (with no cap!) back in the late '90s. After mom passed in 2016, dad ultimately moved to the "Renaissance Care" floor, where every possible need he has is met. We even transferred his supplementary health insurance coverage plan to the Sunrise Advantage Plan, as it's far less costly than BCBS, and his care is even more comprehensive, with visiting providers instead of the disruption of him having to go to them, which is quite difficult in his current confused state. We were worried they wouldn't like the food, but they loved it from the start! I think the food at a place like this serves as a barometer for their feelings about being there, and from the start, although a bit bumpy at first (nobody wants to move away from home), they settled in nicely and made friends. I would highly recommend Sunrise to anyone considering assisted living.
