However, I will focus on direct communication between the family and the rehab center. It is hard to get a hold of anyone at times. There was times that I called and the phone rang for 10 minutes straight. Or I asked to speak to the patients nurse... and waited for 10 minutes and transferred then waited and transferred again... to be told by the receptionist to call back. The nurses and CNAS for the most part are kind and caring. I'm very appreciative of them. It's the service and management of the rehab center that's not satisfying I understand and empathize with the busy nurses, however rehab centers are a for profit business. This one in particular is. Customer service in this kind of business, revolves around effective communication with the patients family. Both in the rehab center and on the phone. People work and it's important that they feel informed of their family members well being and progress at all times. I did not feel that way at all. Even at Sunday discharge, the prescriptions weren't given with valid quantities....Which we didn't discover until at home...with less then a days worth of medication left. Something that would have been great if anyone had noticed before discharge... or if we were given the prescriptions to fill ahead of time. Something has got to change with regard to keeping patients families involved and informed.

I drove 60 minutes each way and could have saved time and money and the environment if someone took time to find care closer to home. 1-2 counselors at Foglia and 1-2 Counselors at PHP were good, sadly they were not assigned to me. The behavior techs were 80% great. They were slow to respond when a client lost his temper, yelling, moving closer to his target and calling degrading names to the first older man. A second staff person while in session and me on a weekend evening. I was terrified of him. staff should have asked him to leave after the 2nd strike. He was rude, sexist and mocked other clients. I feel the staff judged clients and did not allow periods of rest even when it was discovered a loved one had died while there. The rooms were nice, the food was good, the chairs in the lecture room were squeaky so everytime someone moved, it was distracting. The grounds were beautiful w ducks, geese and swans. The housekeepers, food servive workers and front desk person were the nicest and most Compassionate staff there. The nursing staff was good, especially Hennia. There was a night nurse, maybe Katie, who was most kind when waking Up clients to take early am medication. All Were Good, it just took a long time ( 2 days to get all Meds available to take. They made it tolerable. The nurses all Spoke w respect To each client. They offered good advice. My counselor shared information with a family member that I specifically asked her not to share. I lost respect for the counseling team. The lead would not let me switch though I told her it was not going well twice. She said she would be my counselor if it still was not going well. I had only 2 days left, so I stayed w the first one. I was there only 16 days and did ask if there was a chance my insurance would approve more days as then I would change counselors and stay another week. I was told, the insurance was slow to extend the first time so they were not going to ask again. That felt dismissive. I was glad to leave. My roommate was lovely and so were other clients. The meditations with Dustin were very good. Keith was nice as was Kim, I just wish they had more staff like them. Lastly; there were repeated issues with night/ morning staff not knocking on doors for room checks when people were changing clothes or just out of shower. It was brought up 3-4 times in group time and staff were educated, just one young man, Said "sorry! I keep forgetting." I think that should be a no brainer to put that person on other duties And NOT room Checks. It is a violation of privacy. I would say if they improved on the items I and others had issue with it would be a good place. It is beautiful, just needs more education of staff and if a counselor is very new, he/she should partner with another for at least 6 mos to learn how to do things and communicate in a respectful way. Thanks for listening.

It was right in the range that I might need to take an OTC drug, or just suffer with it. My wife suggested to try a chiropractor she started using. I met Dr Lorenz at Health First in Schaumburg Illinois, as part of the suggested regime when I started in 2021. As he began the treatment, he could immediately tell the muscles and tissues in my back where like a rock, as a natural response to the previous injury. He skillfully found all of the pain centers residing in my back, an painfully began to use naprapathic message to ease the tension and reduce the pain. I followed him when he decided to open Revolutionary Health, he seemed to have the space to begin more advanced concepts. He has begun to use a chiropractic bench which gives greater articulation to work on the back. He also has been able to begin treatment of the menial tunnel syndrome that I developed in my right arm, which seems to provide greater relief than when I went with the typical orthopedic treatments. I also has experience with magnetic treatments, which I've heard can provide pain relief as well. Overall, his treatment methodology is painful at the beginning, but in the long run, provides a terrific non-drug methodology to alleviate pain. Thankfully, my insurance covers this type of treatment. Generally speaking, since his practice is new, the office experience is a bit muted, since he does not have a staff. He has generally flexible scheduling between 9 am and 6 pm. Overall, I cannot express enough my recommendation for Dr Lorenz. Please consider this type of care, as a non-drug related substitute or addition to pain care.

You decide…read morewhether it's the facility or the system and whether you'd want an experience like this for you and your loved ones. Caveat: I live out of town. I came to see her for two days in week 3 of her visit and then for another two days in week 4. This incident happened on the last day of my visit. Caveat: Up to this point, everyone was very nice and professional. The one star reflects only my experience on the last day. My 94-year-old Grandma was transferred here to heal a broken hip. The doctor said Grandma's heart, vitals and everything looks good, the hip is healing, and they can start PT soon. By the end of week 2, Grandma was completely bedridden, barely eating, and growing weaker and weaker. When I came to visit in week 3, Grandma was a shell of a person. Her mind was still there and she could reminisce about the old country. But she was in constant pain and talked about wanting to die. She did not want to rehab, screamed through the PT sessions, talked about how she wanted to die in peace. The PoA wanted rehab. By week 4, the first day I visited for a few hours, Grandma was barely speaking and has had almost no food for many days. She could barely reminisce, all she talked about was wanting to die. Doctors said her hip was healing and her vitals looked good. The second day I came to visit on week 4, a half hour into our visit, she started to have horrible chest pains. She started screaming. I found the nurse and asked for a doctor. I was told a doctor is "on his way", and I shouldn't worry, they are about to give her pain meds (oxy). Grandma was screaming, asking to go to the hospital. I ran around, bugging and bugging staff about this supposed doctor and if he isn't running over, then I'm calling 911. They said don't worry about it, she's having an anxiety attack, they're asking PoA for permission to give her anti-anxiety meds. Grandma was screaming and screaming. I told the staff I'm calling 911. They said not to call and give time for the meds to work. I called the PoA and left a pleading voicemail, no answer. Almost an hour goes by, no reply. We can't do anything without the PoA was the answer from staff. Wait to call the hospital, they said. Eventually, the POA got in touch with the staff and told them not to take Grandma to the hospital. The doctor's coming, the staff told me. Grandma was screaming and screaming. I told the staff that I'm calling 911. They said no, they won't release her since the PoA explicitly said no. They checked her "vitals" and while the blood pressure was a little low, she's fine. A doctor was on his way. The PoA was not a medical professional and did not think it was an emergency. I asked staff for some kind of help, but I could tell the PoA told them to ignore me. They avoided eye contact and walked the other way when they saw me. Grandma screamed and screamed and screamed. I asked again if I can call 911, staff said they can't overrule the POA. Grandma was screaming and screaming. She says she wants to die, the pain was too much, she said she needed to go to the hospital. I ran out and relayed her message to the staff (Grandma barely speaks English). One said, "the patient says she wants to go?" "Yes, yes" I say. Another one leaned over and whispered. "We can't overrule the POA, we're doing everything we can" was the response. I begged the staff for more pain relief, for the doctor. "He's on his way". I pressed for more information; they finally revealed he's not in the facility. But should be arriving shortly. When? He's not texting back. Could I please call 911? I desperately made another call to the PoA. No, you can't call. They administered another dose of oxy for her "extreme pain". Grandma was screaming and screaming. Said feels like she's being dissected. I begged for help from anyone who steps into the room, they shrugged. Then someone closed the door, so they couldn't hear her as much. I helplessly cried next to her, stroked her arm, endless adjusted pillows, telling her how much I loved her, and listened to her agonizing cries for almost FOUR!!! hours. HELPLESS!!! Finally and thankfully, she passes out in a way you can tell she's not waking up. A few minutes later, the doctor (nurse practitioner) came in, apologized for being so late, and commented how Grandma was generally in good standing. He promised to do a KUB and left without touching her. I left eventually. Grandma did not have a pulse when the staff came to check on her overnight. When I called the facility the next morning and asked why staff didn't help her, they said they did everything they could. They couldn't override the PoA. So here you go, folks. If you want a facility that will follow the PoA's instructions with diligence, while ignoring the patient's pleas for help and basic human decency, you found it. P.S. Yes, I should've called 911 regardless of what the staff or the PoA told me. Call 911!!

When I started physical therapy, I could barely take one step before my blood pressure would drop into the "danger zone". When I left, I very proudly walked 150 feet with a walker.
