This was the slowest meal I've had in a long time, to the tune of 2 hours for lunch when it wasn't busy at all. The food itself was good. I had the apple, fennel, and golden raisin slaw as a side, a little mayo heavy but pretty yummy. I actually ate it all and I don't normally eat all of anything. For the main I had the chargrilled chicken burger--pretty good flavors overall. Two of my friends had the pulled pork sandwich, which they liked a lot too. The chips were good, tomato sauce was heavy on the vinegar and light on the sugar, kind of typical of Australia I think. Probably wouldn't go back, but I did enjoy the view.

I ordered the smoked salmon on rye bread. It was absolutely delicious though the portions were small *only one slice of bread. It was a bit busy when I visited (Swell event was going on) so the staff seemed a bit busy but that didn't impact the service they provided me. In fact, one noticed I left my laptop behind and reminded me to get it. This is definitely a go-to spot when I'm in Currumbin area.

Used to go to the deck cafe pretty often when I lived in Palm Beach a few years ago, so thought we'd go there. Unfortunately, being a public holiday, the deck was closed. But this place looked pretty good, and it was busy which is usually a good sign (but not so busy they didn't have a table). Food was good but a bit basic. They didn't have a "big" vegetarian breakfast on the menu, which always saddens me. And the eggs Florentine came on toast instead of English muffins, but otherwise the food was good. Serving sizes were more than adequate. The coffee was surprisingly good. Surprisingly because finding good coffee used to be quite difficult on the gold coast. The bean was one of the big brands (can't remember which unfortunately), so nothing special, but it was well-made. Service was great too. Very friendly staff, willing to stop and have a chat.

All were generous and tasty and had we had any room we would have grabbed some of the interesting cakes afterwards.

Context: Was actually looking for JFX Nexus Southport (which was closed), and found myself near Tenjin, so went there instead. The time was around 2:45pm on Saturday, there were around 2 tables who already received their food. I ordered a Charsiu ramen (the original ramen with extra pork slices). With no other orders waiting before mine, I got my ramen within 2 minutes, making it one of the fastest places. Ramen: The noodle used here is thin (less than 1mm) noodles. The soup is fine. The pork slices are 1.5mm thick, cut from a roll of around 10cm diameter, which makes it one of the more generous dispensors of charsiu amongst ramen joints. The charsiu ramen boasts around 5 to 6 pieces of these babies - I think that's one of the best value-of-money charsiu ramens in Gold Coast. Notes: The kaedama (extra ball of noodle) here is free for the first serving per customer, then $2.50 each. FYI, there's free self-serve pink pickled ginger and sesame grinder. Also, there's a $2-off deal for big-eaters/macrophages who order a ramen and something deep-fried. Verdict: I keep on saying the line "one of the" for Tenjin, so to summarise: Tenjin is one of the best deal ramen places on the Gold Coast.
