There's a picnic area near the entrance, if you're so inclined. So much history on the grounds and in the house. George G Key collected and gathered a ton of farm equipment and household items that are on display. You can walk the grounds alone, some areas are not wheelchair accessible, but most is. The docent led tour takes you around a few of the first floor rooms that are stuffed with Mr. Keys' treasures. Definitely family friendly and I definitely recommend you stop by. Be sure to use your GPS or you'll drive past it the 1st time. Ask me how I know.... Also, check the events calendar as they seem to do things a few Saturdays a month that may cause it to be overrun with young people...

Paranormal Investigation Review…read more Our group was lucky enough to do a Paranormal investigation of Dr Howe-Waffle House. We had complete access to both floors of the house, but not the attic, and the coach house. We were given three hours to do our investigation, and we had a blast. Noah and Jessica, the house docents, were awesome and answered all of our questions. PROS: * FREE Parking. Gated and safe. 14 spaces available with plenty of metered street parking. * Complete access to both floors of the house, except the attic, and both levels of the Coach house for your investigation * The House Docents, Noah and Jessica, were available before, during, and after our investigation. Helped out with questions and guidance to paranormal hotspots *There is a nice and clean bathroom on the bottom floor for our use. * We were able to use all our paranormal investigative tools during the investigation. * This Dr. Howe-Waffle House is Haunted.... Cons: * Very pricy for a 3-hour investigation. There were 10 of us at $75 a pop. * The more people you go with, the more noise pollution you will have. You constantly have to be aware of where your team is and communicate with them. Inside and outside noise travels well in the house. * Being on the corner of W. Civic Center Drive and S. Syucamore St., there is a lot of outside noise pollution from vehicular and pedestrian traffic outside. The night we investigated, it was raining, it was cool, but you definitely picked up the wet traffic outside * The upper level of the Coach house is a little cluttered, so be careful if you investigate in the dark up there We picked up multiple EVPs (Electronic Voice Phenomenon) from a little girl and a woman, Orbs, and a light anomaly in one of the bedrooms. What an awesome experience The Dr. Howe-Waffle House is Haunted, no doubt about it, and the ghosts there do have a story to tell if you listen closely enough

This establishment is not only quaint but extremely hospitable! Josue immediately greeted us at the door and when we mentioned it was our first time here he took it upon himself to lead us into the bar area where we had the privilege to have a quiet and personal happy hour meal. Josue not only took our orders and provided great service but he went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and special as the restaurant was getting busier! for anyone looking for delicious food and a vibe that not only looks like luxury but feels like family, I couldn't recommend Sunkist enough! Spent a lazy morning exploring lovely Old Town Orange recently…read more The building I most admired was the old Sunkist Orange County Fruit Exchange. Unfortunately, it was closed. "Closed permanently" according to Google. Apparently in its heyday oranges and other citrus were sorted and packed here. It was the headquarters for the Southern California fruit exchange and handled three quarters of the citrus out of Orange County. It was later renovated and turned into an art gallery. It would be lovely if this historic gem could someday re-open to the public.

Great example of Craftsman-style Architecture. This is a low-density multi-unit residence with a…read moreshared courtyard and center garden, built in 1922 and designed by Architect Frank Benchley. This review is for the architecture only and not for the living spaces. The colors have been restored recently and are much more period correct than the previous tan color, if you remove some of the modern details the occupants have added to the outside of their homes you can film a 20s/30s movie here and it would look exactly right.  Each unit has some hallmarks of Craftsman style; Long overhanging-eaves over the front porch with exposed beams and simplified decorative flourishes like the tapered column designs and wrought-iron door work. To the left/north are the Pomona Apartments which are done in a Spanish-Colonial revival style and worth checking out if you are there. Features a  tiled roof, smooth stucco exterior, arched entryways, and decorative  railings and air vents. I understand the reasoning but a little odd to share the colorway w/ these apartments and the Court. These are historically significant, the only kind like this in the city and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2017.

Wonderfully maintained, great example of Queen Anne Revival architecture associated with the West…read morein the 1800s. This is similar to the Painted Ladies you see in San Francisco and older homes in certain parts of Seattle. Unfortunately because of Covid there are no interior tours but you can still see the outside and get an idea of how a wealthy person lived back then. The building itself has distinct features for the American Queen Anne style including asymmetric facade, cylindrical tower, and decorative overhanging eaves over a large wrap-around porch. Tiling and shingling work is impressive and though this style isn't something I really like I can appreciate the design of it. Cool random fishscale tiles on the tower somehow work very well. Hilariously at night it does look kind of creepy and its right in back of Anaheim High School, a lot of my friends in this area used to tell me all about the Witches House or the old Haunted House. 4 stars because you cannot go inside at this time so you only get half of the picture.

Today I had the pleasure of visiting the Woelke-Stoffel House built in 1894, named after two of…read moreit's owners, John Gottlieb Woelke and Peter Stoffel, this home is one of the most beautiful Queen Anne designs in architecture that Anaheim has ever seen.  The home was designed by architect, George Franklin Barber, and the building of it was overseen by contractor, Armstrong Davis Porter in 1896. The Woelke family lived in the home for several years before moving to Los Angeles in 1899 and purchasing the Hotel Argyle. In 1899, when John had left Anaheim, he sold the home to Isaac Lyons, a native of England who came to California in 1862. Lyons lived in the home with his family from 1899 to 1904 when he sold the house to another family, the Michod's. They lived in the home from 1904 to 1907 and then sold the home to another family, Olmstead's. This family would only live there for less than a year before Peter Stoffel and his family would buy it, and make this house their home in 1907. Peter Stoffel lived the rest of his life in the home. It wasn't until Peter's wife died, that the family estate sold the property to John Dwyer when the city had planned to demolish it.  Tours are FREE every first Saturday of the month, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. The docents were very friendly and knowledgeable. Donations accepted.

The Redwood Creek Challenge is awesome for kids and kids of all ages - plus the shipping next to Grizzly Run is also awesome (just outside of the entrance to Disney's Grand California Hotel). The Soarin' ride is so cool and this whole area is really one of my favorite areas for rides, food, shopping and great places to see characters and rest a bit too!

Also love that if you stay at the Grand Californian Hotel (GCH), you have your own entrance to Grizzly Peak. Get soaked on the rapids ride, and go back to change in your room! Love this area as it's themed really well and adjacent to the hotel and some great dining in GCH.

Artwork is located on the South East corner of Imperial Highway (90) and Valencia Avenue. This 26-foot tall steel sculpture was orchestrated by Douglas Hollis and Anna Valentina Murch in San Francisco. Commissioned by Chevron Land and Development its' a delight to look up and observe steel blades moving silently. Under these blades Breans gather in front of a bubbling water fountain, play, laugh, dine, read and walk. Oasis is a towering monument to a past merging and moving gently into the future. Oasis utilizes a free resource and draws attention to the gentle dances made by the wind on its long, slender finger like blades.

There are a few run down buildings that hopefully will be renovated. It would be really nice if OC Parks would give tours of the buildings so everyone can see how the farm workers lived. This place is a must see if you're ever near the Marketplace.

Irvines Historic Park?…read more It gets two stars only because it has clean restrooms that were easy to use, behind the library. This park was officially established in 1996, it looks like they have not done any updates since than except to put more offices inside the buildings. It is easy to see where Irvine puts its money --into the Market Place across the street. Very sad indeed. The grounds around the 'library' are well kept the rest of the ranch is very disappointing. There were mice and rats running into and out of the buildings. I must say to read the few other reviews posted from 2013-2020 Not much has changed over the years still cannot go inside any of the buildings and some are gated off so you cannot even get to the outside of them. What a shame for an historical site.
