It originally opened in the park in 1955! The Main Street Cinema has the design based on a Victoria inspired facade, and an old fashioned big box office window! Inside the theater, features several small screens showing vintage films. Over the years, the lineup has shifted. The Cinema is known for it's screening of Steamboat Willie from 1928, the very first synchronized sound cartoon featuring Mickey Mouse! There are some benches that you can sit inside and watch the films. It's also air conditioned if you're looking to take a break during the summer! It's a nice place to enjoy some history and being immersed in the magic of Main Street at Disneyland! It's one of Disneyland's Hidden Gems!

We've enjoyed…read morefree Sunday concerts there in the theater, walked throughout the grounds and the indoor museum, and marveled at the care with which his life story and impact were eloquently documented and coordinated. This is one of the few places where a presidential birthplace and burial site are both on the same grounds. Amidst a gorgeous reflecting pool, rose garden, and the palm trees typical of Southern California, Richard Nixon and his wife are buried about 50 feet from his birth home. The house lies in its original footprint when Francis Nixon built the modest house on a rural citrus ranch in 1912. It's perfectly preserved in the middle of a busy suburban setting today, included in the tour. Surprises within the sprawling complex include a replica of the living room at the Nixon's beach house in San Clemente, a full-scale replica of the Oval Office, a chunk of the Berlin Wall, and oil from Saudi Arabia's first oil well. There are countless other artifacts! Best of all, you might enter the museum thinking of Nixon as scandalous, a Republican who became America's only president to resign. But you'll leave with a deep understanding of, and appreciation for, the impact Nixon had on abolishing the military draft, developing relations with China, and signing legislation that would advance women's sports, protect countries against nuclear war, desegregate southern schools, protect the environment, and even initiate the end of the Cold War.

There's a picnic area near the entrance, if you're so inclined. So much history on the grounds and in the house. George G Key collected and gathered a ton of farm equipment and household items that are on display. You can walk the grounds alone, some areas are not wheelchair accessible, but most is. The docent led tour takes you around a few of the first floor rooms that are stuffed with Mr. Keys' treasures. Definitely family friendly and I definitely recommend you stop by. Be sure to use your GPS or you'll drive past it the 1st time. Ask me how I know.... Also, check the events calendar as they seem to do things a few Saturdays a month that may cause it to be overrun with young people...

Great example of Craftsman-style Architecture. This is a low-density multi-unit residence with a…read moreshared courtyard and center garden, built in 1922 and designed by Architect Frank Benchley. This review is for the architecture only and not for the living spaces. The colors have been restored recently and are much more period correct than the previous tan color, if you remove some of the modern details the occupants have added to the outside of their homes you can film a 20s/30s movie here and it would look exactly right.  Each unit has some hallmarks of Craftsman style; Long overhanging-eaves over the front porch with exposed beams and simplified decorative flourishes like the tapered column designs and wrought-iron door work. To the left/north are the Pomona Apartments which are done in a Spanish-Colonial revival style and worth checking out if you are there. Features a  tiled roof, smooth stucco exterior, arched entryways, and decorative  railings and air vents. I understand the reasoning but a little odd to share the colorway w/ these apartments and the Court. These are historically significant, the only kind like this in the city and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2017.

I met up with a friend that I hadn't seen for awhile and it was the perfect place to catch up during a walk around of the garden. I loved the pond with the lily pads and turtles, and the Heritage House surrounded by orange trees and roses. I was impressed by the amount of orange trees. It reminds you of why they call it Orange County. If I went to school here I'd be here probably once a week. Otherwise it's great to come if you live in the OC.

From the parking lot it was easy to follow the signs along to the garden. The garden had areas that represented Woodlands, Mediterranean, Dessert, and a Cultivated Collection. There were walking paths but I still recommend closed toed shoes since it's a bit sandy. They had many benches throughout for resting or handing out and admiring nature. We spent about an hour here, but to be fair I'm not that into nature. I GOT A BUG BITE and it swelled and was super itchy. Sigh. I think someone who super loved nature or wanted to take their time to hang out could take 2-3 admiring all the plant life. My FAVORITE moments here was when we came across wildlife. My favorite were the rabbit, turtle, and crane. It's beautiful. Great spot to get some steps in and absorb some sunlight.

This city is nestled in between a busy 57 Freeway and there you have the quiet and cute little community of Placentia. I had an amazing time at the 28th Annual Tamale Festival. The event took place in downtown Santa Fe, where all the small authentic Mexican restaurants are convenient. Located for many choices. They have a great vibe and a huge heart for giving back to the community. Here I share the events. Picture and highlights of the tamale festival. Again, the employees and their City staff were all present and in support of their big event. Many come from out of the area for this special evening. I recommend keeping this event on your radar, it is free to attend!
