In addition to the main gallery, the Cycling Salamander consists of a lovely sculpture garden and a special exhibit that is shown in certain rooms of the owner's (picture perfect) house. The art on display consists of two dimensional and tree dimensional art at a variety of price points, from unique pottery and textiles that one could purchase on impulse, to substantial paintings and sculpture from regionally well known artists. I understand that the gallery also hosts musical events and offers classes and workshops. I wish I lived close enough to participate! I am really tempted to give Cycling Salamander five stars, and the only reason I'm not is the plethora of wonderful galleries in the Petoskey area.

The gallery itself has a smart art display on right now (summer 2011) featuring pieces made from found/recycled and/or sustainable materials. There's a people's choice voting too, be sure to do that. There are a few etsy items as well, hats, bracelet cuffs, and skirts. I also saw jewelry and notecards. I may have to return to buy a t-shirt, I really wanted one but the 20$ seemed high. Then again, it's nice to support the local yokels.
