He took our baseboard and casing, ruined our HVAC and did not pay all the subcontractors. We waited over a month to submit our review hoping he would pay the people who worked at our home. We knew he would never return our product or pay us for the damage he caused. As of the last time I contacted each sub, he owes a total of $38,792.11 to five different people whom we have proof that we paid him, some of them over 5 months ago. Our project took so much longer because he wouldn't show up on a regular basis and once we started asking for confirmation he had paid everyone, our relationship with him deteriorated especially with my wife who was trying to keep track of the payments. We had been paying him immediately throughout the project but as we neared the end, we wanted to make sure he was paying everyone we had given him money for. When he quit before the remodel was done, we said that we would pay him for what had been completed to date. Before we paid him, we emailed him asking for proof that he paid all of the subs. Once we sent that email, he started harassing us and all the people who were helping us finish our project. That day he demanded that we pay him $10,000 in cash immediately for our baseboard and casing or he was going to leave town for a few weeks knowing we could not move forward without that material. We were desperate to get our material back and my wife was so stressed she felt like she was having a heart attack, we stupidly agreed. When I met him to pay him, he wanted me to sign something that said he was released from all liability and we could never report him to any state agency or ever say anything bad about him online or in person to anyone. I refused and he drove away with our material. After this very distressful day, my wife contacted all the subs whom we did not have proof that he paid. We were so thankful that we didn't pay him because that's when we found out he owed all those people. And, since he didn't return our material or pay for the damage, he actually owes us money. We will be submitting a complaint to the Department of Professional Licensing and to the Division of Consumer Protection in the hopes they can convince him to pay the hardworking subcontractors for the work they completed. The day I refused to sign his letter, he called my wife and tried to have her agree to us never reporting him, luckily she asked if he was secretly recording her and he admitted it so she ended the phone call. Days later he picked up his personal work desk but he never returned our baseboard or casing.
