This the bedroom air conditioner for Room 831... SERIOUSLY!?
J B.

Welcome to one of the worst places in the Marriott- Bonvoy brand. For almost $200 per night (senior rate), at a minimum, I expect a quiet room. Instead, I got street noise all night long because their HVAC doesn't work properly and they put in a cheap window air conditioner instead of fixing their central system! Not only is it noisy, but it let's in the street noise and stink. Air drafts into the building even when it's not running. Enhancing our experience was as I walked in their night desk guy walking in and spitting on the sidewalk just in front of the entrance. I picked this place so we could charge our EV during our stay. There is signage which states "Charging limited to 4 hours". There are only 2 charging stations, both were occupied all night long. They need to put a 4 hour timer switch on the charging station power supplies, or add more charging stations. We've stayed at other Element Hotels and had good experiences. This just isn't one of them. Given that we couldn't even charge or get a good night's sleep, we'd be better to stay at a different Marriott-Bonvoy hotel even if it didn't have any charging stations. At least we would have gotten a decent night's sleep.

The hotel was located in Midcrossing, just a couple miles west of downtown Omaha. There was no easy street parking but hotel offered $10 overnight garage parking. Pet friendly with no pet fee (the best!). The hotel was brand new, each room came with a full kitchen and very spacious. They claimed that their rooms were energy efficient and environmental friendly. Our room was very quiet and the bed was comfortable. They also served complimentary breakfast with hot items (nice right?!) The only complaint was there were no instructions at the breakfast section which was closed off. A staff was cooking when I arrived and she showed no interest in taking orders. Since there was no menu or instructions, I wasn't sure where and how to place orders or what's on the menu...After she finally talked to me, I was able to order omelette and sausages. They also had regular continental breakfast items which were nice.

We stay here often due to being in town on business. This is an excellent location in midtown where you can quickly and easily walk to many restaurants and bars. This hotel is very nice, modern and has many amenities. Each room is a mini suite with sinks, refrigerators, microwave, plates etc and a couch and TV area. This is nice when you need a place to stay all week on business or the hospital and need to save a little money on meals. There is a large grocery store located in the back side of the hotel as well as a parking garage. The 4 stars is due to lack of free parking. When you pay the cost of the room you should have parking available for free especially is they do not offer valet service. Parking was charged additionally to me at check in at $10 a day. The rooms are nice modern and clean as well as the lobby seating and breakfast areas. We will definitely be returning due to location and amenities.

Do NOT book with this hotel! Only one word needs to be said, "Roaches!" I've been attempting to have a getaway trip with a close friend of mine and we decided to check out the amazing looks of Midtown and booked with Element. I had a feeling since the start of the night that the front desk lady was off. I could sense an attitude from the get-go. I woke up around 2 am to use the restroom and saw 2 roaches running across the wall!! I am so disgusted!! The roaches ended up crawling into the connecting room of another guest! I went down to the front desk and mentioned the terrible incident and explained how it begins with a couple and expands to something much worse!! What if I brought those home with me and infested my own household??!! All she said was, "there is nothing I can do." She didn't offer any accommodations, room changes, or anything of the sort!! We stared at each other for AT LEAST 10 seconds of silence. I had to imply my own options! Why aren't you doing your job?? Is this how you want guests to feel?? Don't book with Element! Save yourself the disgust, it may cost you a home!

We checked in on Christmas which is nobody's favorite holiday to work, but the front desk clerk was helpful and explain the parking, since we would be going in and out several times.. We are Marriott members and are used to the quality that comes with the hotel chain. The room is very clean and eco-friendly and while I was surprised at the $10 parking in Omaha, especially for the area of Omaha that we're in we willingly paid for that. As mentioned by another guest I was completely unimpressed with the fact that the pullout bed was extremely subpar and it was no bed limit in the room we had to go down and get it. While I was a great place to lay our head for the evening I do not believe I will be returning to this hotel.

Error message on ac in second, smaller room we were given because they said room I originally reserved had non-working AC.
Shelley M.

A few years ago, I would always stay here on my trips through Nebraska and I liked it a lot. This time almost everything went wrong; no one cared much or tried to address any of the problems; and it was a truly bad stay. I had reserved one of their suites like I had in the past that has a nice layout and good views. When I arrived Guy #1 told me I couldn't have the room I reserved because the AC did not work--he said, oh, I will give it to you if you really want it, but you won't have AC. So what could I do on a hot summer night? I said I was ok with the downgraded smaller room he offered me. He charged me the rate that lesser room cost, with no discount--he made some vague reference to marriott giving me points on my Bonvoy account, which didn't happen. He kept trying to make it seem like it really didn't make any difference--which it did. He seemed mad I wasn't happy about taking a lesser, different room than the one I had reserved--but I wouldn't have stayed there if I had known I would not be given the room I reserved. If I had not shown up, the hotel would have taken my money for the better room, since it was guaranteed. Why can I not have the same guarantee that when I show up I will get the room I chose and reserved a month ago? So we went to the smaller room and guess what? The air conditioning did not work--it flashed an error message and wouldn't turn on or off or work. we called down and Guy #2 said he could try a "hard reset" to see if it would work. When it didn't work, we called down and let it ring and ring and no one answered. my husband went down and Guy #2 was chatting with someone about a side business venture, so he waited patiently for a while. When Guy 2 finally addressed my husband he said "I was waiting for you to call"--I guess "waiting" entails not answering the phone and continuing to have a side conversation. My husband said if the ac is not working in either room, can we have the original one we reserved since it is bigger and nicer? He replied that all those rooms were taken. So was my room given away despite me having a reservation? That's what it seems like. Don't count on the AC working in any of the rooms. They don't know which ones have AC that works and which ones don't, and apparently many don't. So on those 90 and 100 degree nights in Omaha you will be sweltering. We had to keep the windows open and couldn't sleep because of the sirens and the noisy busy street outside. In the morning my husband talked to a sub-manager, since the manager who we had been told would be in at 9 AM was too busy to talk to us after all, and we did get a discount. But it wasn't worth it. I would rather have paid the full price and not had a hellish night. One of the most troubling things was the staff's and junior manager's inability to understand the problem. The obvious fact that they had given up on fixing the air conditioners throughout the hotel and the general disrepair the place has fallen into. I realized later it was the first time in a hotel I had called down and said the AC didn't work and they didn't send someone up or act like there was any possibility of getting it fixed. As we left to go to our car, we saw a huge fan outside a door where a horrible mildew smell was coming from a room--sadly we had to walk through it and breathe the miasma before leaving. Who knows what it was? It certainly smelled awful. Last but not least, parking is difficult--there is a private lot next door, with no instructions about which way to go to park near the hotel--so we parked far far away and had to walk about a half a mile through a fairly confusing lot to find the right place to lug our stuff up into the hotel. Not good if you're older or have a disability. They should provide handout but no one cares about anything here. There is no pride. It wasn't a shortage of employees problem--we saw many different front desk people and the hotel didn't seem at all busy and mostly the guys at the front desk were chatting with friends or customers and not having to face a line at all. The place has gone radically downhill and I won't be staying here again.

I am so glad we stayed here while in Omaha. I love a Westin hotel. And this place has the luxurious but simple 'feel' you really enjoy on a change-in-pocket vacation. I was totally mesmerized by our room. The layout was perfect. The desk against the window, the huge closet, the ottoman, and the modern appliances in the kitchen were real difference-makers. Oh and the bathroom was great. Can I have this at my place? That narrow shelf below the mirror makes all the sense in the world. The only thing I would add is an extra outlet on both sides of the bed (instead of just one). I didn't care for breakfast. Stick with the yogurts and the cereals. The quiche is store bought and so dry and cold. Waffles were blah. This is the low-budget part of your stay. Besides that, kick back and enjoy the glamorous lounge areas. Oh and can I recommend one more thing? The bikes we rented from the lobby were free for the day and that's great. But oh man. Ugh. The seats were awful! Mine was so small and uncomfortable and his kept falling low. It was also itty bitty and very uncomfortable. Painful actually. We loved our bike ride but really paid for it at the end of the day. Unless your hotel guests are miniature size, forget the lightweight stuff and invest in some real seats that your customers will like.

Good location and probably a cool decor when it was built. In desperate need of a quality and updated makeover. They have a free beer tap for use during social hour with a couple snacks. Some wine is also available. The room I had included a mini kitchen with microwave, stove, sink, refrigerator and coffee pot. I did hear that they are going to be doing renovations soon. I'll attach a few pictures of why I feel it needs refreshed. My upgraded room included a view of a parking lot.

Pull out sofa bed had leftovers from previous renter

We were first greeted by the front desk Lady, very friendly, but was taken back on why she was allowed to be wearing a Grey pullover sweatshirt greeting guest? son used the Bathroom once we got there, I guess it was not flushed before we arrived. We pulled out the sofa bed and there was no Sheets, extra pillows or even a mattress cover, but it did have some old food left on the mattress from the last person, plus under the couch was a wine lid. The room had a funny odor to it, so I opened up the two windows to vent out the room, we were greeted at 8:49p.m by the City of Omaha Jack hammering the sidewalk beneath our window, as I debated to either have the window open for ventilation or to shut the window to muffle the sound below, I noticed someone left two Cigarette Butts in the bedroom window. With only being in the room for 15 minutes I was overwhelmed and tired and wanted to just go to bed. As I layed there I noticed the end tables had sticky stuff on it, the vents have not been cleaned in a very long time, holes in every wall from where they moved the blinds, but were to lazy to fill in the holes and paint over it. The clean bath mat was thrown in the corner of the floor, the Shower was dripping so bad that the walls looked like housekeeping did not even wipe and clean them. I have no idea who the Head housekeeper is or if they even have one, but I feel they honestly need to whip the housekeepers in shape and start focusing on deep cleaning every room, when you walk in to a fine Hotel, you should have that WOW Factor!!! If you use a magic eraser on all of those scuffs on walls & doors, it should take them right off. Maintenance needs to get in to those rooms and start repairing the walls, fix showers windows ect. To be honest, I feel the owners need to hear this and figure out were the broken link is and start repairing that Hotel. By the way, I do have pictures on every issue I had during the stay, i did mention this to the front desk.

I lifted up the lid only to find a randomly made pop bottle lid and highlighter had been used to fashion a toilet piece.

Open wires near the bed and nightstand, stains on the floors that matched the blood or red/brown splatter on the duvet, dirty bathroom/hair on towels, and splatters on the walls. I moved rooms immediately and noticed the microwave and fridge did not work. That was not a big issue but the next day I had absolutely no hot water so while checking out I mentioned that and was told the problem was known and now fixed. Why wouldn't you tell your guests that of this known issue? The worst part is that management questioned me for pictures after I left even though I complained in-person, right away and they moved me. I expect this kind of treatment if I booked through a third party app but not when I booked straight through the hotel. I've included the last letter I wrote to Guest Relations. It was my third and final attempt to get any sort of recognition for the ill situation. I was awarded 15k points (that I probably will never use) before Veronica even contacted me. Management and guest relations couldn't care less about making things right with the customer. She definitely took my last paragraph seriously and did not respond whatsoever. I guess if they're ok ending it like this then so am I! Hello Veronica, Personally, I would have liked to see the situation handled a little differently by starting with a callback from the GM, Jason Johnson. To me, that sounds a little more personable than an email and I didn't think it would be too much to ask since you are indeed in the hospitality industry. However, I will gladly send you the pictures of what I have to help assess the situation. Of course, I do not have pictures of the microwave not working properly, the smell of the room, or the refrigerator and shower temperature. I do have pictures of the text interaction between my mother and Haley after finding the mold and wires, as well as the lamp and splatter on the duvet. I was in town for a funeral and to reunite with distant family that I have not seen in years so forgive me for not taking pictures of the mold or wires. I was more concerned with spending time with my family instead of worrying about the hotel room. Keep in mind that I moved rooms rather quickly because of Haley being so responsive in fixing the issues. She was an absolute pleasure to deal with and I hope she gets the recognition she deserves even with due circumstance. I appreciate the points even though I'm not familiar with them. We travel at most, once or twice a year so I'm not sure I will use them but thank you for offering something more than a cookie or breakfast. I understand in your position that you need to be wary of guests who tend to over exaggerate their issues or concerns but I never thought I would be questioned for pictures over such obvious issues in the room. I suggest speaking with the housekeeping and management team about the unsanitary conditions of room 236. If my young children would have grabbed those wires and been electrocuted we would be having a very different and difficult conversation right now. I am not happy with how this is being handled but I am also ready to put this behind me so please do not feel obligated to respond. If anything, I ask that DoubleTree by Hilton Omaha-Southwest 'DO BETTER' because this entire situation could have easily been rectified.

There is no odor of smoke that you can have when people try to sneak one in. Our room was in good repair, there was no mildew on the bathtub or shower which often happens no matter how clean the room is, there was no outside ambient noise which can often be problematic. The only reason that I gave four stars is an issue that we had the day we checked out. I booked this location was it advertised to have hot continental breakfast starting at 6 AM. My husband and I we're down at 6:30 to find it nothing was there except for the juice machine. When we asked the staff what was going on in regards to breakfast, she said she was running late and it would be at least 20 minutes more. The bathroom of the room we booked was described as having "Shower with hand-held shower hose and shower with built-in transfer shower seats." (These descriptions have subsequently been removed from the website, but we have screenshots. Curiously, when I called the 800 number during this stay, the rep told me that only corporate can change website items. The room we were assigned had only one grab bar, no shower chair of any sort (a built-in transfer chair was advertised), and no hand-held shower hose. We went to the front desk and asked for a shower chair, and the front desk person (who was doing his best to provide good service) was told by the general manager that they had no ADA shower chairs. The GM refused to talk to us and made the employee take the brunt of our frustration. The GM's solution was an old, dirty folding chair (We have photos) to place in the tub for my wheelchair dependent daughter to use. This is not a safe, ADA-compliant solution. We were told that the folding chair is the only shower chair available at their property. We were given a second room with a better tub and better grab bars, but the toilet seat was completely unattached on one side. When we reported it, they offered to move us again, which would have been the 3rd room they had us look at while finding an acceptable ADA-compliant shower. The next day, we went out to a hospital supply store to purchase a shower chair, only to come back to find the toilet seat fixed (thankfully) and a small, previously used shower chair in the bathroom. Good for in-shower use, but not a transfer chair for a wheelchair dependent person. Upon asking the front desk about the shower chair, the clerk (different from the evening) was unaware that one was needed or requested. We were thankful for the chair, but we then had to return the shower chair we had just purchased. The purchase of the chair and subsequent return took 2 hours of our day. We were not told by any associate that they had located a shower chair, apparently from storage. The parking in front of the hotel is actually arena parking and is well-surfaced, but there is a sign that says "Arena Parking Only." The hotel parking lot is beat up with potholes. The handicap parking is on the far side of the building, and the closest door to it leads to two separate flights of stairs. IHG should seriously investigate the blatant disregard for the needs of its ADA guests at this location.
