Recently spent 3 nights here and loved it. Everything was easy. All staff that I encountered were friendly and accommodating. I found them very welcoming especially when my family walked over to visit.
I liked that the Hotel was easy to get to, easy to get into, easy to unload in the huge portico.
I found getting to the parking was clearly marked and right there. It was plentiful and well lit.
Parking in DT Vancouver $29/nt. Parking in Vancouver, West Broadway area $19/night. Parking at the Element Hotel in Metro Town, Burnaby $11/nt.
The skytrain is 10 minute walk away. Huge mall for your shopping fix 5 minutes walk away. Lots of restaurants and services right there. The neighbourhood is friendly and multi-cultural.
Having rented a suite before (from another hotel) I was gratified to find that this unit with its small kitchenette had everything needed including a knife & cutting board, citrus juicer, dish soap, hand towels coffee maker, microwave.
I liked the fact that my little Studio did not have carpet. It was tastefully and minimally decorated. Really clean too. Great magazine left in the room.
This is a "green" hotel. The water is filtered and I did not notice any taste after drinking tap water. They also have it organized for composting and recycling.
Loved the rain shower, shower head so much I went out and bought one for home. Too bad I couldn't just take the whole roomy shower home with me. The dispensers for shampoo & conditioner also show their commitment to being "green". Good light too.
On the 5th floor are the amenities. Breakfast area, (continental breakfast included w/room, I'd call it an executive continental breakfast) a work out room, business area, saltwater indoor pool, hot-tub, sauna and a room that would be perfect for a larger family gathering sometime...
My grandkids met other kids there, they had a wonderful couple of hours playing together in the pool. We met lovely folks that get to live there full time.
As a "home away from home", this is ideal. This is exactly what I was looking for.
Having the split lobby works well too. If you use the upper mezzanine you bypass the desk, thereby maximizing the feeling that you live there.
I haven't tried it yet, but next time I'm bringing my dog. I understand that there is a designated floor that has dog friendly suites. There are plenty of parks & green spaces nearby for walking that dog.
Personally, the wi-fi which often confounds this old luddite, only took a few seconds and was free.
A criticism? The TV is a little too big for the room. A size (or two) smaller and mounted on the wall over the shelves directly across from the (very comfy) king bed, is about all I can come up with. But... no problem finding all my favourite channels!
Once everything is figured in, this Hotel, in my opinion, has good value.
Looking forward to my next longer visit.
