This was a nice wig store, but it is out of business and closed. I have not found any other comparable wig shops in or near Lansing.

I went to look for a wig before losing my hair due to chemotherapy. Kevena, the wig consultant, was the perfect person to help me. She made it fun and I quickly found a style/color similar to, but much better than, my own hair (think, always perfectly styled and no gray!). She taught me all about the care and styling of the wig and I left feeling confident with my "new" hair. Two weeks later, I was faced with losing my hair. I took advantage of Carol, the owner's, "Elegante Hour" which is free with the purchase of a wig. It was time to get my head shaved. What was a very emotional experience was handled with such gentleness and empathy by Carol. I got a buzz cut, an exfoliating head massage, and moisturizer applied. It felt almost like a spa day. I left feeling invigorated rather than depressed. Every aspect of my experience at Elegante was positive and uplifting and I highly recommend them! read more

Carol, the elderly lady who I believe is the owner pretty much chased us out of her business. Absolutely rude and unhinged. This is not a normal way to act towards anyone. I was in disbelief as I don't believe I have encountered anyone like her before, especially towards potential customers. Fortunately, my mom found great service and many options at Luxe Beauty. They have a huge variety and i can guarantee you'll receive kinder staff members. I hope Carol finds a new owner fast. She needs someone stable to take her place ! read more

I love Elegante I have purchased 3 wigs from them. Please make an appointment this is not a walk in service. They give 100% of their attention to the clients who have made an appointment and I appreciate that level of service. They listen to you and help with finding the perfect wig, it's not about how much you can spend it's about them wanting you to leave feeling great about yourself. Unfortunately zero stars is NOT an option here! This place is a joke...First of all, I would be weary of these fake perfect reviews, because this place is not worthy! Carol Peterson, the owner was very rude, unprofessional, and has no sympathy, empathy, and only cares about her HIGHER PAYING customers. Guess what, Carol? I am thankful for the technology we now have to warn others of BAD PLACES OF BUSINESS, like Elegante Wigs. She couldn't be bothered with small purchases, and rolls out the red carpet for people spending more money. Then after waiting days for a call back to get an appointment, I finally get scheduled, and went there, only to find out that she had several private rooms, and I guess she decided that I don't need privacy! She just wanted to do everything out in the open for everyone to know my personal situation! Also, she continued to try to rush me out!! And was insensitive, that she claimed it wasn't a big deal, the fact that I wanted privacy, she didn't feel like I needed it! OMG....Then, she became flustered when she realized that she wasn't going to make much money off of me, and started seeing other people ahead of me, and putting me off and helping others who were going to spend more money...DURING MY APPOINMENT!!! HOW RUDE! HOW GREEDY! HOW INSENSITIVE, HOW UNPROFESSIONAL! CAROL! Then, she was getting a big attitude, that I wasted her time, because I didn't buy anything! I Have been in Elegante Studio a few times and I have purchased hats and a hairpiece, which I am very happy with. I find that the hairpiece can be very usefully in this Pandemic when you can't go out and get your hair colored and you don't want to do it yourself. You can put a hairpiece on and feel like a new person, and guess what.....you look like one too! I have never had a complaint about their service and I find them to be very friendly. I visited here today and upon entering I called out to make my presence known. I greeted the owner with compliments to her outside decor. She gave me a disgruntled look and asked "what is it that you need". Her tone took me aback, however, I told her that I needed a wig. She then said that the woman who now was coming from the back was leaving and that I did not have an appointment. The woman now before me asked "how much money are you looking to spend?" Well...I ignored her rude tone and question while addressing the owner's question. I told the owner that yes I know that you take appointments, however, you are open and not serving anyone else. Mind you, I was in a few months earlier deciding to give them another chance after have been treated rudely by the owner's daughter. At this particular time the owner intervened and assisted with my purchase of a wig and sleep cap and shampoo and conditioners. She use to be cordial. Today..down right nasty. Well..I know where I am never going to spend my hard earned money at again! I immediately turned around and walked out. (biting my tongue). As I was exiting the parking lot I noticed a salon directly in front of me. I stopped..called to inquire if they had any wigs (as they sometimes do). The woman apologised informing me that they did not and suggested Youngs Wigs. I told her that I was looking for a nicer line. With reluctance she suggested Elegante Studio. I shared my minutes before bad experience and she shared hers. She said that she had taken a friend of hers who happen to be a cancer patient and wife of a prominent doctor there and that they too were treated "terribly" and never to frequent again. read more

Pamela is the most rude representative of any place of service I have EVER frequented...rude, snobbish, uncaring and a totally disrespectful person. I had bought several accessories and wigs to the tune of thousands of dollars in this establishment...never again. I don`t know if the owner . Also this place does cut tags and any info on the product you buy. Well lets all pay hundreds of dollars for something and not have any manufactures info..who does that? its all about money they do not want you to try to buy online..no other store does that sort of thing...just elegante` can you think of anything you buy, especially for hundreds of dollars, that you are refused the right to the manufactures info....I sure can`t... should be illegal to cut tags out of a product the manufacture attached for their products,and should only be removed by the purchaser .. run from this place there are more caring places to help you and will gladly want and appreciate your business read more

I was in this shop about a year ago and as soon as I stepped in I felt very uncomfortable. Staff was like vultures. What was I looking for and what was the amount I would pay for a wig. I felt like I was buying a car!! They have tons of wigs but you could tell they wanted to be involved in deciding your style and did not want you to check over the floor sample wigs. I left knowing that I had no intentions of EVER returning. I now buy my wigs online and I am very happy with what I have ordered. This place needs to change their ways and be more people friendly instead of making a person feel out of place. read more

I bought a very expensive wig here. Gwen was friendly and helpful and did a great job explaining how to care for it. I like the wig. When I got home, I saw the wig's tag had been removed and the box's label, containing the product information, had been blacked out with a marker. In a phone call to Pamela, I asked for the wig's product information- brand, style name and color name and number. The gist of her answer was that it was none of my business. I wrote the owner and asked for the same information. I never received a reply. I know I paid much more than had I bought it online, but I am okay with that because I understand overhead costs and personalized service. However, I would never return to this place because of the lack of openness and honesty. read more

My mom has been coming here for years and always had great services. Recently she came in to try on some new styles, she really just wanted a new look. The sales lady went through how wigs were made and how to care them which was fine. Then she she ask what my mom had in mind, to which my mom replied something kinda spikey and fun, a change from my more smooth hair piece. So the sales lady goes to the back room and brings out a piece to try on-- it was a flop. My mom explained what she didn't like and asked if she could look around the show room, since wigs were set up around the store, to this the reply was you can but that makes it harder for my job to style you. Then why have wigs sitting out if people can't look at them? We walked around anyways. The sales lady brought another piece out and told my mom in a condescending to to "use your adjectives when saying what you don't like" while her trainee replied "you have no idea what you want"... Very rude. They only brought out 4 pieces all together and as my mom and I were reminded a few times that the sales lady was "very good at styling" The workers seemed to get upset when my mom didn't like anything. Finally my mom asked to tried a wig on from the floor and they let her, guess what it looked good and I know my mom would have bought it right there. She actually was prepared to buy a few pieces however they only let her try on about 4. When you're spending around $500 on a wig my suggestion is to let people try on many options. My mom told the worker that she wanted a few styles-- but the worker didn't listen. This workers condescending tone and rude attitude is the reason no purchase was made that day, we took our business's else where. read more

The people here are really nice so my session with them started out well. But of course they are because they want you to make a purchase. The session did take a turn for the worse. I had that nagging feeling in my stomach and didn't follow it. I should have left but didn't. I guess I wanted to be 'nice', since the sales person spent so much time and of course I wanted to leave with something. I did end up making a purchase which I later regretted. I had a change of heart regarding the color and since it was a human hair wig, or so I thought, I decided to dye it. This is where my entire experience really goes off course. Know these things up front. (1) Although Elegante promotes itself as a full service wig salon, they actually do a really awful job educating their customers. I thought they told me everything I needed to know about the wig but they were really just trying to close the deal - think 'car salesman'. (2) They remove the product tags from your wig before you leave and do not give you the packaging. (3) They do not send the customer home with any information about the the wig in which he or she just invested, what can/can't be done to it, or how to care for it. They expect you to remember everything that was stated during the session (although in my humble estimation that is asking a lot. You never know what has happened in a women's life to make her seek out wig wearing. She might not be in the best state for remembering a lot of information, as was the case with me.) If you don't ask about something, it may not be covered. It is your problem if that which wasn't covered was actually important information about your wig. (4) If you have a problem with the wig, they will blame you for not asking the right questions that would have prompted the sales person to tell you what you should have known. They take no responsibility for the fact that they don't do a good job educating (and don't send you home with anything to refer to, not even the name or product no. for your wig), although for me that was my sole purpose in going to them in the first place. (5) They criticize your selection, if you have a limited budget, if you have a problem with the item for which they didn't describe fully or send you home with information. (6) They expect you to call in before you do anything to the wig, which they didn't even give you the name or product number for but they also DON'T return messages or follow-up with customers - well at least they didn't follow-up with me. (7) They have wigs in their store that are labeled 100% human hair but are actually some sort of blend. I did try my best to glean what I needed to know and do from the internet but I still ended up damaging my wig by dyeing it to a more natural color. The hair on the wefts performed wonderfully with the dye. But, there was a part of the wig that had a plastic scalp area (which I didn't even know was a part of the unit until I got it home). That area lost most of the its hair. The wig now has a bald spot and is useless. You should do exactly what they told me after I confronted them with my concerns - DO YOUR RESEARCH. I went to them thinking that would have been enough, as I thought from their commercial. Research products online and watch YouTube videos. On my own, I've purchased other wigs that worked perfectly for me - two in town and five online. I encourage you to do the same. Further, I found that you can get the same wigs for less elsewhere. Go there if you want to but I truly encourage you to buy somewhere else. Learn from my mistake and do you research for yourself. Don't depend on the professionals. read more

My mother just found out she has cancer and went here to look around and just see what her options were. She said "I don't even know if I will lose my hair yet" being that she just found out and hadn't started treatments yet. To which the lady responded sarcastically "yeah maybe YOU will be one in a million"! This discouraged her very very much! Actually kind of devastated her. Well guess what? Her doctor told her that there are many treatments that do not cause hair loss hers being one of them. The doctor also said that she has heard that the owner is very nasty and rude to customers. Not only am I happy that my mother doesn't have to deal with hair loss but VERY happy she doesn't need to spend a dime in this horrible place. Dropping a grand or more on wigs you would think they could afford some decent customer service. If you have cancer, please avoid this place as you will just leave feeling sad and discouraged. Oh, and Carol, don't bother responding to this. Instead do some serious self reflection. Btw we did have an appointment. read more
