This review is long overdue... but Eric and his team of professionals were one of the greatest highlights on my special day. The music was absolutely perfect throughout the evening, and every meeting we had with Eric beforehand left us feeling optimistic and taken care of... and for good reason! My mentor hired him to play piano for her mother 100- yr-old birthday. She really likes him a lot but she didn't mention him to me because she didn't know Eric is also a DJ and MC. Somehow, she and I went to the bridal show at Four season hotel and met him there. He was playing quartet, and I really liked it. At that time, I was about to decide the DJ/MC for my wedding, but after meeting him, I paused my decision and requested more information from Eric. After we received the info, price and video clips from him, we decided to pick him for our wedding day on 11/11/17 at the Oak room in Calamigos Ranch, Malibu. There are 4 main reasons we picked him. 1) He is a pianist, DJ and MC. I only need to communicate with ONE person for our wedding, the itinerary and song choice and so on. The DJ/MCs I had inquiry before, some I had to talk to the assistant first and some I had to talk to the DJ and the MC for different information during the wedding. Too complicated! 2) He plays amazing live music and he is so talent about it . We hired him and his wife to play piano and flute for our ceremony and cocktail hour. He told me he transferred a foreigner song simply to sheet music and played with piano at a wedding before. Thus, we gave him all kind of songs from Andrea Bocelli, Michael Buble, The Corrs to a Taiwanese singer David Tao. He and his wife played them all with piano and flute remarkably. I have to applaud for it! 3) He is so knowledgable about the songs and music AND other wedding stuffs. Though he is caucasian, he suggested me to choose 'the moon represents my heart' as the song during mother's rose ceremony. I was kinda surprised he knew that song, because that is a very old song from a Taiwanese singer and even the current generation might not know that. He also suggested us to have a mini version of Paebaek ceremony as one of the games during reception. I asked my Korean husband, he didn't even know what it is. lol We did that and it created a peak for the guests. 4) Price. The price he gave me was too reasonable for all the quality service he had. The price I received is the price I got from other DJ/MCs WITHOUT the live music. With the live music, your wedding has already been upgraded to a more glamours level. One more thing is he accepts credit card. All the DJ/MCs we inquired before only accept cash. It makes everything so easy and simple. During the wedding, everything was flawless. He followed the instruction from the venue, the song list I gave him. Some of my guests requested different dance songs like salsa. He got them all. Everyone was dancing until the last minute. I was kinda worried no one would dance, but I worried too much. We really had a good time. I will definitely hire him back for my baby shower. read more

Wow! Eric really knows his stuff! He worked with my wedding planner and made a timeline of every step. He knew when to cue each dance, intorduction, toast, etc and made all my guests feel special. We did the Anniversary Dance where the longest married couple stays on the dance floor as the others (married less than 5 hours, less than 1 year, etc) get eliminated and they win the prize. Eric made it fun and the whole room was cheering. Although we had a playlist, Eric was able to read the crowd and the dance floor was always hoppin' as he changed the music to suit the crowd. Every request from our guests was played right away so all felt important and included. The ceremony music was spot-on and right on cue. My husband and I hired Eric, Shelia, and their team of musicians for our wedding ceremony and reception last June. Eric served as MC and played the keys in the quartet. Before the wedding, Eric and I spent an hour or so on the phone on a few occasions to plan the event -- he provided wonderful suggestions as needed and also was very flexible and accommodating to my husband and I's vision for our wedding. Eric's MC skills are excellent. He was incredibly professional and made sure our event unfolded on schedule. The quartet performed for our ceremony and reception. They were able to adapt our favorite songs to fit the quartet, including songs by Jason Mraz and Muse (they are able to adapt a wide range of music). Our wedding guests said that the music was one of their favorite parts of the wedding. We got so many compliments on how tasteful (but not stuffy) the quartet was. Our ceremony and reception took place outside, but that wasn't a problem -- Eric had the appropriate amplification system and made sure that the music was audible to all (he also brought a lapel mic for my husband and the officiant to ensure that everyone could hear the ceremony). I wish I hired a different company for my wedding. Eric not only did not respond to any emails after hiring him as our band and dj for our wedding 6 months before the actual day but be made absurd excuses "he was busy with shows ect". I think if you hire someone for a big day like your wedding and paying $3k+ to perform than emailing and responding is a must. Eric did respond a week before the wedding and showed up at our home a few days before the big day. Not to mention he wouldn't budge of price since he didn't perform for 2 hours. I regretted hiring him and so did my husband. Eric is misleading and uncaring and he did not play any songs requested. My guest danced little to none. I was very disappointed. I would say before leaving a deposit research and don't settle for a vendor especially for your wedding day. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. We were pressured into hiring Eric to be a DJ for a wedding in October, 2014--because the venue said 'he understood the rules about keeping the volume low'. The bride and groom gave him a playlist-with instructions to stick to it--which apparently he didn't. He clearly doesn't understand what a DJ is there for - to gage the crowd and keep the energy going. He played music that wasn't danceable - he kept putting on rap songs after the group would get going--and everyone would just stand there--he left his DJ 'stand' over and over and over -he wasn't even facing the dance floor. This is not a criticism of his playing live music - as background music it was fine, but DO NOT HIRE HIM AS A DJ. We would have been better off using an iPod--which is what the groom wanted to do in the first place. read more

Five stars but I would give more if I could. Eric and his band are incredible, simply put. From the beginning of us connecting about my wedding, he was the epitome of a consummate professional... he was so easy to work with throughout the entire process, and always was approachable and available - I could truly tell that he wanted to make my wedding as special as it could possibly be! He was very hands-on and extremely detail-oriented... he even helped plan out our entire wedding night with us, detail by detail, like a wedding planner does. Knowing that he would be the emcee for the night allowed me to relax; I knew he'd make sure the night flowed as I wanted and do everything in a very elegant way, which he of course did. It was so nice having one point of contact for everything music - my ceremony, my cocktail hour, dinner, dancing, and DJ - he did everything. I went to him not wanting a cookie cutter wedding, but rather for the evening to feel like a very elegant dinner party, and he executed on that! My husband and I were very specific with our musical choices for each part of the night, and he honored our wishes and even surprised us with some songs that are absolutely our other favorites, we had just forgotten to include them! The music was so perfect the entire night, and was such a crucial part of the ambiance being as fabulous as it was. I have been a school psychologist for 35 years. Our wedding was at the Los Angeles Athletic Club - a very classy wedding venue. We had Elegant Music's quartet play for our ceremony and cocktail hour. The pianist Eric Zimmerman continued on as the Master of Ceremonies and the DJ for our reception. These musicians were very talented and professional. They helped create such a joyful atmosphere, one that our guests are still talking about. I found Elegant Music when I attended a wedding open house at a popular LA church. Eric and his wife Sheila were performing. I picked up their card and soon after researched their website. The website was packed with information and videos of their performances. As a musician myself, I could tell right away that these folks would be great for our wedding. I contacted Eric shortly after via email. Within a week, he sent me a guest pass to a bridal show where his quartet was performing. I went and introduced myself. The quartet was finishing their lunch break. Eric put down his salad and asked me what song I'd like to hear them play. I chose one I heard on his website, "Viva La Vida" by Coldplay. A few moments later the musicians were seated and began to play. The quality of sound gave me chills. These people were amazing!!!! Shortly after that day, my fiancé and I met with Eric and his wife at their home to talk about what we were looking for and to see if Elegant Music was the right fit for us. Eric asked us about some of our ideas for song choices. He was genuinely enthusiastic. He then sat down at his piano and played some of those tunes for us. After a couple of songs, Shelia joined in with her flute. That told me that these folks know this business, are passionate about what they do, and have a large repertoire of music at their fingertips. That day Eric gave us a general script template to help us organize and plan our ceremony and reception. (This was also available on his website.) He offered a few suggestions from his many years of experience, which we welcomed with open arms. My fiancé and I are in our 50's and both of us had previous marriages. It had been many years since our first weddings and many things have changed. We wanted this wedding to be an event to be cherished and remembered by our newly joined family and friends for many years to come, therefore, we wanted to leave nothing to chance. We had 5 more months until our wedding, so we put down our deposit that day. Securing Elegant Music 5 months before our big day gave us piece-of-mind. There was no pressure to sign a contract that day, that's just what we wanted to do. And we are so glad we did. A little over a week before the wedding, we met again fine tuning the wedding script. I asked Eric if he could compose a medley of 2 songs for the ceremony. He said sure! Our wedding was not typical with bridesmaids and groomsmen, etc.... There were many nuances my fiancé and I wanted to include. Eric was great in incorporating our desires and scripting the entire evening.. The event began with the quartet playing for 30 minutes as our guests arrived. Guests told us how the room and the music created such a classy and beautiful experience. When the ceremony began, in the distance I could hear the medley ("Simple Gifts"/"Somewhere Over the Rainbow") as my fiancé, our mothers, and our children walked down the aisle. The medley was exactly as I envisioned it. Then it was my turn. Shelia's gorgeous flute resonated down the hall as I entered; the quartet was playing "1000 Years." I was filled with joy, the joy my fiancé and I had intended for our wedding event to express. " Edelweiss" was a special song request that the quartet preformed when we exchanged our rings - it went along with the name we now share "Edelmann." We ended the ceremony with the quartet doing an instrumental of "Marry You" by Buno Mars. We were dancing down the aisle and were then joined by our children and moms and our guests. It was magical! The quartet music continued during the reception where our guests were getting to know each other while we were taking photos. Eric then took over the DJ role and set the mood for our reception in an adjoining room. As he announced our family and us he played Smash Mouth's "I'm a Believer." Everyone was up on their feet and clapping. Through dinner, toasts, and special dances, Eric's performance was seamless. The dance music included our ideas and his, blending old and new genres. After dinner, the dance floor bustled with non-stop dancing. We even went over our contracted time by 30 minutes. Eric played on till the time we had to end. And, he stayed true and ended the evening with my song of choice - "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey. And that's the true message of our wedding: Don't stop believing in magic, don't stop believing in joy, and don't stop believing in love.
