Some people have a heavy hand and I'm sure I've had quite a few knots, but my last massage (a few years ago) blew me away in comparison to today. Update: I woke up from a nap and I am in excruciating pain all over my upper back, neck and my head, and called only to be asked why I didn't make a complaint in the spa, when I was willing to let it pass. I want a full refund for the services done extremely poorly and will wait to hear back from the manager tomorrow, because I don't think a gift card is enough severance. Second update: It's laughable, honestly. First, they offer the money back, then say to dispute. No issue. They also act like they aren't the owner to avoid accountability. As a health care student, and as a immigrant female, I thought I was getting seen by a Dr. with ethics, care, and professionalism. I WAS SO WRONG. I moved to the neighbourhood in 2021 and I decided to go to Mrs. Almendral's office for my physical exam for NYU school of Dentistry entry. Honestly, I felt well taken care of the first two years because she always have had AMAZING MEDICAL ASSISTANTS, AND MEDICAL STUDENTS doing her job. Nonetheless, the only time I had a procedure/exam done by Mrs. Almendral (I can't even call her Dr.) was my PAP SMEAR, and she took the opportunity to invite me to her Open House for her new Esthetic clinic. After that exam, I received results that were ALARMING and CONCERNING to me as a young female with no kids. In order to not get overwhelmed googling my results and finding every answer as "cancer" I made an appointment to get my results EXPLAINED by an actual "professional". I came that day (May of 2023) to her office, and I waited about 20 min and got the regular screening (temperature, high, weight, Blood Pressure) taken. I was taken into the cubicle and the sweet assistant went over my medical history (as it should be) and current medications. Once all of that once done, Mrs. Almendral came and sat down, she said hello and took my results to read them, however, she suddlenly stopped and asked me if she was my primary care doctor. I told her no, I never was told to do so, since 2021. She told me I had to go to the front because "she was not going to get paid". I had to leave the cubicle and the poor young receptionist had the job to ask me out of the clinic until THAT LADY was assigned as my PCP. Mrs. Almendral left to her office and even when I kindly asked the receptionist to ask her if I could just have the results explained so my anxiety would go away, she was told by Almendral that her hourly rate was $150 without showing her face to me ever again. I LEFT THE OFFICE CRYING!! I never felt so discriminated before. I am a full-time student and I have free insurance coverage, I cannot afford $150 for someone to explain to me my results. I felt like I was just an income to this "Dr" and not a human, not a patient at all. She has no ethics as a doctor in medicine. That same day I made her my PCP but then decided I never want to go back there. Today, three months later I received a BILL of $200 from 2021. I called my insurance and they told me all that she said was false. She was getting paid, just that the process is longer when the Physician is not your PCP. This lady just wants money, and you will not be a HUMAN BEING to her but just SOME INCOME, SOME PROFIT. She is just interested in practicing medicine that is not covered by insurance (botox, etc.) and not intern medicine. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME! She will show you who she really is in the long run. IT TOOK HER 2 YEARS TO DO IT TO ME.
