Service was highly professional and was done within two days of the distress consultation. They assisted me with an understanding of the type and number of security cameras I would need to pick up. They provided the essential hardwire security camera installation of three floodlight cameras needed before I would leave for out-of-state extended holiday vacation. They were compassionate and very helpful to assist me with a jump-start sense of direction to get my system online. They were Christmas angels -gifts sent from Heaven. HOME WARRANTY OWNERS BEWARE! We requested service through our home warranty on 7/22/24 and EMP was assigned. They called within 24 hours to schedule and were at my house on 7/25 to diagnose the problem (very fast, which was awesome!). According to the electrician who came out, there was a wiring issue on the wall/outlets that were not working (3 outlets in total along about a 40-50 foot wall). Based on what she said, it seemed pretty straight forward and said EMP would be in contact to set up the repair appointment. Two weeks later, I still had not received a call to either discuss the issue or schedule that follow up appointment. On 8/9/24, I get a text from my home warranty saying a new company has been assigned and will be contacting me to schedule a diagnostic appointment. I call my home warranty because according to EMP the issue has already been diagnosed. However, it seems EMP took 2 weeks to let my home warranty company know they didn't have the "proper skills or electrician to complete the job" (quoted from my home warranty). So either 1. this company is admitting they don't know how to complete basic electrical work (a wire issue, I would assume, is pretty basic for electricians); or 2. they did not want to complete the work due to it being through a home warranty contract so they passed the buck to someone else. My guess (and yes I'm just assuming) that it is the latter reason. With a home warranty they can't up charge or add additional work to make more money. All work has to be submitted and approved by the home warranty. Guessing EMP didn't like that. I've reported them to my home warranty, who said they have done this before (passing off contracts) and would be reviewing their company for further use. Just super frustrating because now we have to continue to wait when we've been without power in our living room for over 2 weeks. I also want to add that the EMP electrician who came out (I can't remember her name) was somewhat rude and impersonal. She never introduced herself (I get this is a personal preference for me but it's also just common sense when it comes to having manners). She walked around our living room dragging her feet everywhere with no regard for our floors. She then asked to use our extension cord, which is fine, but then proceeds to throw it across the room multiple times to the different areas of the living room she was testing. Between this and dragging her boots across our floor I was worried about scratches to our hardwood. Lastly, before she left, she made sure to talk about how annoying it is for them to have to go through the home warranty company for approval and because of that, she wasn't sure when she'd be in contact for the repair. Just a super frustrating experience with this company and they never even did any work for us! If I were not using a home warranty for repair, I 100% would NOT call EMP! read more

My rating has nothing to do with the work that was performed. It has everything with their ethics. My husband was quoted $199.00 per hour and when Terry arrived he looked at the situation to extend electrical approximately 4 feet, insert new gfi outlet and he quoted us $550 to do the work, he finished in 1.5 hours and still charged us the $550. The office said it was because he had to cut out some drywall, which we in turn now have to repair. It did not cost $250 for an outlet and some pieces of wire. read more

We recently had one of their electricians out to fix a few switches and a can light above our shower that was intermittently working. After fixing a few light switches and moving on to the shower light, the electrician promptly broke the can light fixture in an attempt to get it off and perform a repair. We thought this would be no big deal because they would surely fix what they had broken right? The electrician apologized and said she would file a claim. After a little while, we called their office to get a status update. The manager there claimed they would make it right and they would call right back. After several hours with no call back, we received a single call back where the manager quickly said "oops" and hung up. My wife then called them at least 4 times to get a response but got none. I then called from a separate number and did get a response, where I was told "your can light was old and because this work was done under a home warranty claim we won't be fixing it." Wow. Until this point we had been very polite and respectful. We have had many professionals out on home warranty claims and have never been treated this way. When something else is wrong, we just file another home warrant claim, or work to make it right. It's like they didn't want to own up to their mistake. I really don't care about the $30 fixture. I can replace that myself. It's the principle of how they treat customers just a mile or two away from their business. They literally broke something that wasn't broken, left, and ghosted us. One item on our list was the installation of 3 ceiling fans. We bought the fans online and needed the help of an electrician who could do a good job at a reasonable rate. The first place we called wanted $600, so I rechecked Yelp and landed at Electrical Maintenance Professionals (or EMP as they requested on my payment). We scheduled a 2 hour window on a Friday about 10 days ahead of time.....not that such advance notice is required for an appointment. We called that morning to double-check and, sure enough, were told Daniel would arrive in 20-30 minutes. He did and we toured the house to discuss the fans, which light switch was meant to operate each one and whether we wanted to attach the light kits (we didn't). He also gave us guidance on possible issues with installing a chandelier and the accommodations we might need to make to get it done. Overall, Daniel and EMP met the criteria to earn 5 stars, including: - Flexibility with the calendar - Arrived on time - Explained what needed to be done before doing it - Completed the work with a minimum of fuss and delay - No harm to the house - Cleaned up after himself - Nice guy - Charged a reasonable price of $487 (lower than the phone estimate of $525) Based on our first experience with Daniel and EMP, we'd heartily recommend them for residential electrical jobs on the Central Coast. I have a Home Warranty that covers electrical. I was having issues with running my hair dryer in my main bathroom. Every time I turned it on, the power would go off. I contacted my warranty provider and it took a couple of days before I got notification as to who my service provider would be. When I reached out to the service provider, it was a while before I could get on their calendar. In the meantime, I started having more problems with lights not working and a Ring camera going offline in a she-shed next to my home. On May 2, 2023, an electrician came and replaced 3 GCFI recepticals inside my house. When I showed her the she-shed and explained the problems. I said it might be from an exterior GCFI since the shed was wired to the house system. She checked the exterior GCFI's while I went inside. She came in and told me that she didn't find any GCFI's outside that weren't working and because the she-shed wasn't part of my house, it wasn't part of the warranty. Okay. I get that. Very disappointed but I understood. On May 27th I needed something from the refrigerator that I have outside next to my house. I found that the refrigerator was off and had been for some time. Everything inside was moldy. I pulled it away from the wall and found another GCFI and guess what! I wasn't working! It had been overlooked by the electrician fro Electrical Maintenance because it was behind the refrigerator. Granted, an easy mistake to make. My warranty company said contact the electrical company directly. I did, left a message, no return call. Tried again - same thing. Contacted my warranty company. They reached out to EMP. EMP said problem in a building not that is not a part of the house. What? How would they know since they hadn't bothered to speak to me? Well, this went on until my warranty company took it up a notch. I have to provide photos to prove the outlet WAS connected to my home. Today, June 7th, Terry comes to my home and stands there and tells me that since the outlet was originally part of the siding (manufactured home) that was damaged from flooding on January 9th and the siding has been removed, he didn't feel that it was safely mounted (I absolutely agree!) and it neede to be mounted to the actual wall of the home. BUT, he wouldn't do it today! No, he said he needed to go back to the warranty company for approval and went on to give me some story about how some warranty companies only cover 3 outlets, blah, blah, blah, and he needed a new work order, blah, blah, blah. Sorry, I just don't see how this is a new issue. I originally called for an electrical service matter. I didn't call and say "please come fix 3 GCFI's". If he had spent one second looking around, he would have seen a place in distress with a woman in dire need of help. Just one more second, Terry. What has happened to businesses today taking care of people? He asked me why my house was the way it was. I started to tell him but it has been such an emotional trial over the last six months with dealing with insurance companies and getting ripped of by a contractor that did the skirting/insulation work that I didn't go into details. I didn't think Terry wanted to see me cry. Well, he left me crying this afternoon. I feel like another setback. More emails and more phone calls - another battle to get something done! No Terry - there isn't a limit on the number of receptacles covered by my warranty. read more

I wish I could give you a better review. But after being stood up twice for our appointment, I cannot. At first the follow up text conversation was great with a text stating when the appointment will be and what to expect. I arrived at my business early for the first 8am appointment and received a cancellation notification at 10. No problem I understand let's reschedule. Next appointment was from 9 to 11am. I arrived at my business at 8:45 to wait. At 9:15 I get a text message that the technician will be there at 10. My reply text was simply. He should be here by now. At 10 I received a cancellation text notice!! Who does that! There reply was rude snotty and with sarcastic hashtags. This business is far from professional. I hired them to install a Ring doorbell. Their policy is $145 for first hour and $125 for each hour or part hour thereafter. The worker was good, friendly, but hadn't installed a Ring system previously. I was charged for FIVE hours of labor. He was here for 90 minutes, then went to lunch. 2 hours charged. He came back and worked 90 minutes. 2 hours charged. Should I be charged a full hour because he decided to go to lunch 30 minutes into my $125.00 second hour? He came back and worked another 90 minutes and charged me for 2 hours. He worked 3 hours but charged 4 hours! He then came back for 30 minutes and charged for another hour. 3 1/2 hours worked but 5 hours ($645.00) labor charged to install a doorbell! I contacted the office but got no consideration. I've had Terry do several jobs at my house and he's very Quick clean and does the job right I've had him install recessed lighting throughout my whole house fix outlet issues throughout my whole house custom switches, install fans and custom lighting in my master bathroom with all that done on separate occasions ( do to my availability at home) his hourly rate is so far the best I can fine not to mention he also has a half-hour rate which in some cases the work that I've had done around the house he has just charge me a half-hour rate I'm very please with Terry and his services and his experience levels I believe he has 20+ years with electrical. Very flexible on times throughout my work schedule. I've had him here as late as 8 o'clock at night still working on projects that I've had lined up he completes the job and has most of everything that you would need for your project on hand. I requested that someone do a quote and after a wait of a few minutes I was told "they" do not do quotes and that a minimum one-hour service call ( apprx $120) would be required. I have used EMP twice in the past and was very pleased with the work Terry did. I have an problem with the electrical plug on my SPA. So I called EMP for an appointment. Which was setup for today between 10 am and 1pm. At 12:55 today I get a call from EMP saying that the Highway has been back up all day and that they didn't feel my job was biggest for them to drive in traffic to get here. Basic I would be wasting their time. They want to reschedule for next week. I live in AG and I do believe that the Highway is not the only road here.
